MAN FOUND DEAD

A man wanted for questioning by police in relation to the brutal killing of five-year-old James Dougen in Las Vegas three weeks ago has been found dead. Forty-four year old Gerald Wanton, was found early this morning with a crossbow bolt lodged in his chest in an alleyway in the Financial District of Death City. Daily Souls understands that Wanton was low on the list of suspects in the murder of James Dougen, but police had been unable to locate him for earlier questioning.

Wanton was a well-known and respected businessman in Death City, holding majority shares in many large companies, including Death Grip Financials and Deathbucks.

Wanton’s murder follows a recent spate of killings of known criminals Bob Grimlock (32), John Digger (53), Demi Morgan (27) and Mortimer Adams (24), however it is the first murder in which a crossbow has been used. Police have refused to comment on whether Wanton’s death is linked to the other four.

Police believe the murders of Grimlock, Digger, Morgan, and Adams were committed by the same serial killer, dubbed by the Daily Souls as “The Crim Cutter”. However in each of these cases, the victims’ throats were slit. While Digger and Morgan were known to each other, the only other common links between the four victims was their gender and criminal backgrounds. Police believe the killer may be waging a personal war with Death City’s criminal population. Devin Bones, who remains the prime suspect in the Adams case, is now wanted for questioning over the other murders.

Police Chief Inspector Samuel Buckley is urging members of the public to come forward with any information related to the five murders.

[Temperatures for today will be 72/49F (22/9C). It's the second day of the carnival, and the attractions are just beginning to swing into full gear! It seems that the pageants from yesterday, plus that impromptu contest for men might have made things more exciting--maybe too exciting. The atmosphere in the alleys and streets of the bazaar feels odd today, tense and tight, like the stillness before a lightning strikes a dry bush. Some people seem jumpy, skittish, perhaps in reaction to the ordered chaos of the carnival, or a manifestation of some sort of nervous energy.

Whatever it is, it's starting to affect some of the people running the carnival, and even the visitors. Previously-shy and courteous stall owners are getting bolder and more aggressive at drawing customers to their wares, the lines for the scarier rides are longer--the one for the bungee-jumping is several hundred meters long. There is a louder, more frenetic energy to the place compared to yesterday, and the darker corners, like the sharp bends of the Love river ride might even feel hostile to some.

Could the murder from this morning have any relation to the strange air around the Nocturne Bazaar?]
