[ There's a moment of silence before there's a meek clearing of a throat. And then another pause before the girl's voice comes through the device-- ]

I just... I just wondered... Who else here has had other people come from home and--

[ She hesistates for a moment, but then continues. ]

A-And they're from a different time and things happened and now you don't know what to think or feel about a lot of--

[ Ahiru cuts off yet again, a longer pause hanging in the air before sighs and speaks very quickly, almost tripping over her words as they come out in a sheepish mess. ]

[ The feed quickly statics out. ]

[ ooc: Distressed ducky is distressed, but ashamed of her own feelings on the matter. ]

Gosh, it's happened to a lot of people... I wonder why they take people from different times.

It's weird. I feel like I know a lot of things I shouldn't know yet, now.

[ Ah, so this one is in the same boat as Mytho, then. ]

Yeah, that's how it is for my friend who came here pretty recently. They know all kinds of stuff that me and the other person from my world don't know about at all.

Yes! It is.

So you're from a later time than they are?

...They're from the later time. So when I talked to them... well, I didn't know about any of that stuff happening. It's weird knowing about it now.

[ And now she doesn't know how she would feel when she goes home, already knowing how things are supposed to play out in the story. Would that mean the story was already over when she returned? Would she just be a duck again? ]

...Oh. I see. That's even more confusing.

I guess it happens to a lot of people here. Some even have others come from years past.

I dunno how it works.

[ And it makes her head hurt to even think about it. ]

So, what happened?

It doesn't seem like very many people here understand how this "BREW" device works.

[He pauses for a moment, trying to think of what it'd be like to learn something that would happen years into the future. Actually, the more he thinks about it, there's a few things he wouldn't mind knowing about...]

...There might not be anything wrong with taking advantage of that sort of knowledge, if you can use it to help other people.

That's not how it works. At least, that's what everyone I've talked to says. Apparently BREW puts people back right where it took them from.

Is that a problem for you?

I wonder if it would change things too much, though... I guess I did what I always wanted to do, but...

[ It feels empty, when she hasn't even gone through it, herself. Did she just return the rest of Mytho's heart and that was all...? It didn't seem that simple. ]

I never actually did it. And I'm not looking forward to um... what happens afterward.

[ She'll just be a duck again. The story will be over. Everyone will forget about her, right?

...She should just be happy for Mytho. That's all she ever wanted, right? Just to see him smile. Why doesn't that make her happy now? ]

Well, one of the people from my world would have been maybe four or five if they'd been taken from my time. At least in my case, I'm thankful they hadn't been taken from then.

Wha...? But then--what...

...That's so confusing.

Well, someone came from my world, but they're from... after the end. After everything is over. I feel like I know a lot of things I shouldn't know yet.

...I don't know. I feel like I shouldn't know what they know yet. I don't even know how just how how much farther in the future they come from.

[ But now she knows the ending to the story. Will it be the same if she really goes back home to the same point she left and already knows what will happen? Will she even do the right things anymore? ]

So it can be a good thing too, huh? That's nice that it worked out for you.

But I dunno- I don't think that's a bad thing.

[dryly:] Yes.

I know. It doesn't really make sense to me either.

Your life doesn't have to be defined by what happened in the past, or what might happen in the future. Be proud of the moments you're living now—and do the same when you go home.

[Sasame's a bit hesitant to assume too much now that he can't hear the "inner voices" from sound leafe anymore. But...Ahiru's obviously worried about something, and he wants to help, so he does his best to understand.]

I see. So...things didn't turn out the way you were hoping. Is that what you mean?

I never thought about that.

[Now he has to wonder how his friends from home feel, hearing about a future only he's experienced so far.]

So you think...what you know now is going to be a problem?

[Well, it didn't always work out. But in that one instance it worked out pretty nicely, all things considered.]
