Oi.
Most of you already know about it, but there’s a daily morning training where some people are working so that they can help you figure out how to transform or what your Meister ability is. I’m one of them and as such I have an important message for you. I’m only going to say it once, so wash your ears and listen.
The next smiling idiot who shows up unprepared and expects us to just do all the work for them will be drowned. Don’t waste our time when you can’t even use your poor excuse of a brain to try and think about the solution of your own problems!
..That’s all.

[He shrugs.] As I said, nobody needs to come to me for help. I'd actually call you pretty masochistic if you do. There are others and nobody expects anybody to spill their personal history or do anything they don't want.
[voice]
[He wasn't going to agree with the way he was basically tearing down people before they got to him, but he would not deny that the guy had a point somewhere in there. He wasn't even a Meister. He just didn't like the way people seemed to be treated by some of the people here.]
I sure as hell don't agree with the tactics of threatening people, but me saying that a couple of times won't make a difference. I'll give you that at least you want to see people succeed. That's...gotta count for something.
[voice]
I'm only threatening those who are too lazy to stop and use their heads for two minutes. Maybe you can explain to me why that's such a terrible crime, because I'm not seeing it.
[voice]
Well threatening people doesn't really inspire confidence in them. I agree that holding somebody's hand the whole way isn't, well...idle or anything, but just flat out cutting somebody done is a surefire way to get people to quit.
How do you expect to win a damn war if you end up chasing off somebody with potential?
[He sighs. He really isn't sure what he is trying to get at with somebody obviously set in their ways, but he'd be damned if he was not just the least bit curious as to why this guy's attitude was so fucking lousy.]
[voice]
What, did you think I was one of the locals?
[voice]
That...is a pretty damn good question when a lot of us had our own wars to fight. Whatever mess this world is in, bringing in people and more or less forcing them to fight...it isn't right.
[How else was he supposed to put that? He thought about it enough, but hearing it from somebody else made him think a bit more on it.]
I really wouldn't know who the locals are around here. You seem to know what you're talking about if somebody is trusting you to train a bunch of people. Either that or you volunteered. It doesn't matter if this place brought you here or you happen to have always been here.
[voice]
[Have the vocal equivalent of a shrug.]
All I do is spend a lot of time in the library and then try to figure out what their ability is by the cues that people give me. I got the job because it's my duty as a Keikain to help people and I got it because they were desperately short on people.
[voice]
That's what people do. They stop and think and sometimes, believe it or not, somebody's words can trigger what has been on their mind all along. I know. It's a fucking phenomenal concept to you.
Your choice of words still sucks by the way, but it's not anything I'll lose any sleep over.
[It was kind of backwards for somebody so adamant about pissing other people off to even want to help people out, but he digressed.]
Seems like a smart way of handling things with a little research. What exactly is a Keikain?
[voice]
Being disliked works for him just best. He doesn't comment on the pointing out the obvious.]
A clan of onmyouji that has sworn to protect a certain big city and its citizens.
[voice]
He would ask what onmyouji was, but staving off another string of insults this guy was able to spout off like a damn fountain was not the way he wanted to spend his day today. The concept was easy enough to understand.]
Hmm I see. So I guess you've sworn yourself to this city now then. Well...somebody has to do it and...it's at least respectable you held out others even if it's a bit...no need to go there. Guess the results would speak for themselves.
[voice]
I don't care about this city here. It seems to have plenty of its own guardians and it'd look bad for me to switch allegiances that lightly when just both of my brothers died in order to protect Kyoto and the seals.
[voice]
I don't care for it much either if it pulls us away from what we were doing, but if it gets us back home...there's no question what has to be done.
...I'm sorry to hear that about your brothers.
[He wasn't about to go giving him a bout of sympathy when he'd probably just throw it back in his face.]
[voice]
All males of his family line died early thanks to the Gitsune's curse, but Shūji and Koreto didn't only have no chance but also neither a quick nor a peaceful death. He had seen their mutilated bodies. It had made him want to fight those creatures who did it all the more.]
Don't be. They knew the risk when they became the guards of the seals. [There's a small quiver of emotion in his voice but he kills it off quickly.] ...All of my family die quickly and there are still two of us left. [A pause.] Considering how the war is going I'd consider that a good score.
[voice]
...That's gotta be tough though. Still...it sounds like they knew the risks. It doesn't make it right to lose family or anybody else even if they did know what might happen. War of any kind...
...I suppose you could call it a good score of some kind...it isn't right though.
[He really wanted to add that there shouldn't even be a need for somebody to have to say something like that, but this guy knew that.]
[voice]
[voice]
[He didn't want to keep him for too long on here if he had some people to train and, honestly, if he was bothered before then it would be an asshole move to prolong the conversation.]
On that note, I won't keep you from training some people up. If there was a misunderstanding in there, I'm sorry about that. I think I'll just be getting the hang of this in the best way I can.
I know it won't mean much, but thanks for your time.
[voice]
You're welcome, for whatever you mean you have to thank me for.
[voice]
I'm Isaac Clarke by the way. What do you go by in case I ever run into you? Just Keikain?
[He sure wasn't going to forget that condescending voice of his. At least the conversation wasn't a complete loss. He did feel sorry for the guy for what he said a moment ago.]
[voice]
My first name is Ryuuji.
[voice]
[And he meant that. He didn't want to end up being one of those people that showed up and did not figure at least a few things himself. His voice definitely holds less of that paranoid edge...at least for now.]
I'll try not to end up being the guy that expects answers for everything here.
[voice]
The first: don't be stupid enough to try tossing yourself down those stairs. It's a better way to get into the hospital than figure out how to change.
The second: Getting intimate with your partners does not help your resonance.
Much luck.
[voice]
I wasn't too into the idea of tossing myself down a flight of stairs anyways. I'll make sure to focus on what some of the other people here suggested over that.
[He cocked an eyebrow at the intimacy with partner part of what he said.]
Gotta tell you...if that was a requirement to resonate, I'd have to pass. Good to know that it doesn't take that.
I appreciate it.
[voice]
Be clever and you won't have any problems with me.
[voice]
I guess...some people just get desperate as hell. REALLY desperate.
[What else could he say about that?]
I don't think I will have a problem with that. I suspect you'll let me know it if I screw up too bad.
