[The feed switches on to Kanji sitting in a chair facing backward, though the frame only catches the bottom half of his face as he pulled his arm back. He was never good at filming...]

...Yo. Had a lotta shit to do lately, so this entry's kinda late.

[And that was when an odd jingling started from somewhere behind him. The teen ignored it, taking a fist and slapping it against an open palm.]

I partnered up with Tifa! We're livin' in Death City Heights, Building 6, so don't bother lookin' in Murder Manor or Creeping Crypts.

[A lopsided grin.] Heheh... Witches're seriously screwed now!

[And with that, he cuts off the feed to the public, opens up a private message and hesitates, heart pounding. He could do this. He could do this...!]

[Private: Naoto]

[He'd turned his head away before the private feed started, arms tightly folded as clammy hands were balled into fists.]

Y-... y-y'free tomorrow!?

[Did his voice crack? Of course it did.]

[He nodded, and made a point of sending off that reply before resuming his search.]

I've, uh, been meanin' to ask...

[He scratched the back of his head.]

I've had some friends ask me about you, but I dodged sayin' 'her' or 'him'. I-it ain't my place to go around sayin' you're a girl if you don't want it gettin' out for whatever reason, y'know?

S-so...

[He let it hang at that. How this came to mind he didn't even know, but now that he thought about it, he should figure out what Minato uses, what the Agency uses...]

[She blinks, looking up at him, but then, seems to shrink in her spot]

I... don't feel ready to disclose that information freely here. The Agency already knows and Arisato-san is aware from his previous stay, but... not yet.

[She'll get around to admitting what she is eventually, but many people don't seem to care about it right now.]

Yeah, I... know how that feels.

[He wanted to reach out, grab a hand, squeeze... but the nerves kept his hands where they were. Instead he shook his head.]

You take your time with that, yeah? One step at a time.

Mhm...

[Her free hand curled against the bed and she resumed her small nibbling, the second cracker disappearing]

[He settled into the silence, and he couldn't find what he was looking for.]

[...And yet, there was a draw-pad function. He could just use that, pulling out the attached stylus. He began to draw what looked like a backward 7, and six lines beneath. He would try to entertain, damn it!]

...Ever play Hangman?

[She picked up another cracker about to set to work when he asked her about Hangman. She raised an eyebrow]

... Once, but it was some time ago.

A Weapon. [he pauses briefly.] What are you?

[Oh, it's this kid again.]

Hn, I guess congratulations are in order.

[C-cute frog... he wants to squish Giroro.]

[Then he realized he was kind of staring.]

--Uh, y-yeah, thanks.

[Tifa raised her eyebrows but returned the nod, smiling faintly. They were to take on harder tasks and missions now, after all.]

We've got to keep stepping up our game, yeah. I think we can get some of the resonance attacks down if we keep training.

[She tilted her head, tone softening.]

There's nothing wrong with taking a day off though.

[It was strange, hearing that. Ever since he'd arrived in Death City, Kanji's mind was set on catching up to the others, doing everything he could. ...But had he ever just sat down, taken a day off that didn't involve some tragedy or some injury? Now that he thought about it, no. No, he didn't.]

...You got a point.

[He pocketed the communicator. If things went well, he'd have that day off tomorrow.]

Got somethin' you're doin' tomorrow?

[Weird... he was a Meister last time, but Kanji chalked it up to BREW's usual time-screwing bullcrap.]

Meister. I'm always down for resonance practice, so you can hit me up in the park in the mornings, yeah?

[Minato nods.] So who is it?

You pick a day and I'm there!

I'd play with Naoki back in the day, but...

[He shrugged. Damn, he kind of missed the guy. Even before his sister's death, they didn't see each other as often as they did as kids.]

...Anyway. Gimme a letter.

[The stylus was given a little twirl in his hand. Hopefully this one wouldn't be too easy.]

[She nodded, understanding. Talking about this... she was missing home too.]

[Hm, a letter for a seven-lettered word]

... T.

[She had an idea.]

Tifa Lockheart! She's one'a the bartenders at the Bitch's Brew. Turns into a glove.

Haven't figured out her Weapon abilities yet... gonna try one when we head out, I think.

[The world may now collectively shudder at the thought of Kanji with Limit Breaks.]

[He etched a T into the first line. T _ _ _ _ _ ]

[Crap. Maybe he should have picked a longer word...]

[Hm, well, it wasn't her original word. What other seven-lettered words begin with t? Well, she could at least try and see the result.]

E?

You saying you can handle me?

[What? Was there something on his face or something? Besides the scar he means...]

Hn.

[And then a quick salute.] I am Corporal Giroro of the Keroro Platoon.

[And he was saluting, o-oh god.]

...Kanji.

[Must pet you whenever he runs into you next.]

[Oh. Oh, was that a challenge? Come at him, broji.]

Heheh... I can sure as hell try, Senpai!

[Aaaand another. T E _ _ _ E ]

[Definitely picking a longer word next time. Perhaps he should not have chosen a letters game with the Detective Prince, but hey, perhaps this was getting her mind off of things.]

[She's pretty sure that's the answer.]
