[good afternoon Death City. hope you aren't tired of new arrivals yet because here's another one.
it's hard to tell where exactly this particular old bespectacled man is recording from because most of the screen is taken up by the biggest hat in the cosmos. don't be intimidated, though! he seems friendly enough, though his attention constantly flickers from his unseen audience to a point just beyond them -- as if he's almost more interested in the communicator itself than who's behind it. the quiet muttering doesn't help.] A mirror, eh? Curious choice...
[right, he's supposed to be talking to people. whoops! he blinks, starts, and smiles apologetically, refocusing.] Ah-- greetings. My name is Qilby, and I am an Eliatrope.
[an awkward, expectant pause as if he's hoping that by some stretch the term should be familiar to someone out there. or maybe he's just hesitant to address his next point.] ...I don't suppose I'm the only one that finds it rather tragic that by bringing us here and giving us these new abilities, they've stripped us of our powers that arguably could have been more useful to help end this conflict. And now we must figure out how to harness an entirely new set of skills... Well. They say you can't teach an old boowolf new tricks, and I doubt I'm an exception. [and his smile at his own "joke" implies that he is a very old boowolf indeed.]
That aside, I'm more than willing to try and learn. Tell me, how have people's experiences been? I'm afraid I haven't had to fight a war in a long time.
[and at that, he looks very tired.] A very, very long time.

video;
video, i loled.
video, always and forever getting names wrong! 8D
Anyway, yeah. I agree with ya on the abilities thing. I still haven't unlocked my meister ability yet. It's so frustrating!

I've only heard about Meister abilities -- but it stands to reason I should have one too. [and, slightly embarrassedly:] I'm only a little ashamed to admit that I relied on my former powers as somewhat of a crutch. I hope it won't take too long to get the hang of these.
[smile!] You seem like the fighting type, though. Perhaps we can help each other.
no subject
Don't sweat it, old man! Maybe you got somethin' pretty easy to figure out. I'll definitely help ya!
no subject
How long have you been in the city? The way you put it, it sounds like you've been training for a while now...
no subject
I was told that our meister ability is probably pretty similar to stuff we had back home. I'm a fire mage, so my ability might have something to do with fire. So whatever power you had back home, you might have somethin' similar here, Kidney.
no subject
--I hope so! For the both of us. Fire's a potent power to wield; the dragons of my world can surely attest to that.
no subject
Dragons?? You got dragons? Can they use fire too?? And did you run into one named Igneel?
[ ....it's very unlikely that his dragon wound up in another world. But hey, it was a possibility. ]
no subject
We most certainly do. My people have very close bonds with dragons -- my own sister is one, and my fellow Eliatrope rulers all have their own dragon siblings as well. [le smile!] They can all use fire, and much more.
[and, his smile falters-- for he's very sorry to have to say:] And I'm afraid I haven't met a dragon named Igneel. A name like that, though, and he'd be home among the likes of our dragons Grougaloragran, Phaéris, or Adamaï.
no subject
[ Of course, the hope of finding him is dashed after the admittance. Natsu is able to keep himself from looking too depressed about it, though. ]
It was a long shot anyway, so don't worry about it. 'm just glad to hear that dragons are still thriving in your world. Ours disappeared seven years ago without a trace. Been lookin' for Igneel ever since.
no subject
gently, now:] If your dragons are anything like the dragons of my world, then they're notoriously tough and terribly devoted to the ones they've raised. I'm sure you'll meet Igneel again, even if it takes years, decades.
My sister, Shinonome -- I have not seen her for ten thousand years. [a wry, nigh-bordering on bitter look.] Before I ended up here, I was about to be reunited with her.
no subject
[ -- and then the second part of what Qilby said gets a delayed reaction from him. ]
Ten thousand years?? Wow! You're really old, huh?
no subject
[also WOW, RUDE-- or at least it would be if it weren't true, or if "really old" wasn't a complete understatement. quilty-- er, kirby-- QILBY laughs, cheering noticeably.] Yes, I am. Quite so. Though, there's a reason I haven't aged in such a particularly long time.
But our dragons could live to that age and much further beyond without any sort of help. They gained immense wisdom through their longevity. [he smiles: this is a joke. ha ha.] I like to think the same of myself, sometimes.
no subject
I bet you do know a lot, if ya got ten thousand years under your belt! Actually, you probably know close to everything! So you should know -- how to get our powers back here!
no subject
I'm afraid even fifty thousand years wouldn't be enough to learn everything there is to learn.
I've never been deprived of my powers before, not in all my life. It's... Not a problem I have a ready answer for. [a glance, a raised brow.] I'd be more than glad to try and find a way -- but it's the choice between focusing our energies on that or learning how to use our new powers, so that we may keep ourselves and our friends here safe.
no subject
What kind of powers did you have back home? I take it you're a mage, right? Did you specialize in an element or certain type of magic?
no subject
This definitely wouldn't be the first time I've travelled to another dimension, though. And it wouldn't be the first time I've been stuck in one. [a half-smile...] The company is far better this time around.
no subject
[ Natsu shakes his head and then offers shounen encouragement. ]
Guess we'll just have to do it the old-fashioned way and fight their war. Don't worry, Curry! I gotcha covered.
no subject
It seems that way.
But I'll consider myself lucky to have such an... Exuberant young one fighting by my side. Perhaps you can show this old Eliatrope a thing or two.

no subject
wait what]
Erm... [for a moment he considers protesting the point but apparently by now he's accepted that this is just the way this boy is.] ...I look forward to it, Natsu.
