Luck is just not on my side with these guys.

[Cupid is examining a smoke-covered wall beneath a broken window in her apartment, expression set into a frown that she's trying very hard to keep from becoming a pout. She gives her mirror a strained smile and settles a hand on her hip with a sigh.]

I hate to see it, but I don't think the show is that great an idea this week, all things considered. Maybe next week, huh? That said, please remember that my private inbox is always open just in case.

[She pauses a second, then smiles wryly, running her fingers through her bangs idly.]

Also- um... Joshua, wasn't it? I guess they were paying more attention than we thought, huh?

[A sigh and she turns her attention to the rest of her apartment.]

If anyone needs me, I'm pretty sure I'm not going anywhere for a while.

...hey. How would you feel about taking our date outside the city?

[She smiles a little sheepishly.]

I guess the new people wouldn't know... whoops! But yeah, I host a weekly romance advice show.

[Another look back at her apartment.]

Usually, at least.

A romance advice show, huh...

[She's suddenly curious. Then she offers a little smile.]

I'm Karina. Would you need any help there?

Yep ! Every Sunday, though the time isn't always the same.

[Cupid smiles back cheerfully.]

I'm Cupid- and I wouldn't mind more help if you'd really like to.

I've got free time. And besides that, I think I'd like to do something other than bake in my oven of a room. Where do you stay?

I'm on the bottom floor- 1P. I can't say it's much cooler in here, even with the new ventilation though.

[It doesn't take long at all for Karina to come knocking on Cupid's door.]

Door's open!

[And inside, Cupid is scrubbing at a stain on her wall intently, brow furrowed in concentration as she does.]

[Karina steps in and she's pretty surprised by the damage! Then again, that was pretty much the downside to having a room on the first floor when the riots were going on.]

Hey there, Cupid. Want me to help you with that?

[She comes over to her.]

[Cupid pauses in her scrubbing to sit up and wave, and then smiles and inclines her head toward the bucket she's using.]

If you want to grab a brush, then sure. No real trouble if you don't though.

[It's really strange encountering someone like Cupid in person for the first time. But she supposes that meeting a guy with a screw in his head the very moment she arrived should steel her for the experience. Was she... made of bone? Anyway, she keeps her attention on the job at hand.]

Alright then.

[She stretches once and reaches over to pick up a brush and help Cupid out with the scrubbing.]

Sorry this all happened to you...

It's not that bad... and honestly, I've been worse off here.

[She pauses to dip her sponge into the bucket and then wring it out a bit before resuming, letting out a quiet, almost derisive laugh.]

After all, this still beats out getting kidnapped.

You were kidnapped before?

[Karina gives Cupid a concerned look as she scrubbed at the marks left upon the wall.]

Yeah. It was... well. I mean it was a kidnapping, you know?

[Cupid doesn't seem to be bothered by it in the least.]

But they got us out pretty quickly, once they realized we were gone.

Ah... that's good. I guess that means the people who are here in the city can really help defend it.

It's just... really troubling that there had to be more chaos happening in the city, too.

What's a shame is that they seem to be foisting the issue on us when we can't control how we come and go, or how well we can handle fighting Witches.

...it's just completely irrational.

Yeah. That's absolutely unfair to us.

How long have you been here in this city?

A couple of months now- which is a little unbelievable to me, but hey. Time flies, you know?

I'm lucky though, I at least have someone from back home around.

Ah, that's good. I also have people from back home here, too.

[Not completely in good shape, but Cupid doesn't need to know that.]

It makes things a lot easier, I think.

[But it's better than no one.]

It does. I think if I arrived here without anyone from home, I would have really wanted to go home right away.

Well, it's not so bad... you make friends and stuff pretty quickly here.

I guess so... I'm actually looking forward to that. I had been too busy to do things with friends back home.
