Evening, Death City- hope the evening's finding everyone alright...!

[Cupid's voice comes amidst the slight clinking of dishes being put away- which may explain why the post is all audio instead of her usual video.]

Okay, so I've been thinking, since Blair brought it up to me and... I think- considering recent events and the fact that the city probably isn't as safe as it could be- that more of those here could probably use partners- or at the very least, someone they can call on when things get a little hectic.

Therefore, I'd like to suggest a kind of... partnership speed-dating event- though really it could be for regular dating too.

For anyone that doesn't know what speed dating entails, it's pretty simple. Those interested gather in a venue and are given a number- then half are seated at tables and the other half switch around the tables after a certain amount of time. Usually not more than ten minutes, but the duration is totally up for discussion depending on everyone's preferences.

Each person has a paper that they write things down on- namely which people they got along with best and would like to see more of. Then at the end of the night, the papers are given to the Host, and the host then pairs up those who thought the highest of each other for longer 'dates', so to speak, at a later time. Obviously for anyone looking for partners it wouldn't be so much a 'date' as probably a resonance trial or even a mission... but still!

I think it sounds like a good idea... what do you guys think?

I don't have a date in mind yet, but I think waiting until after the Gala is probably a good idea, just to make sure everyone has time to wind down from something like that. I'm also open to venue suggestions if anyone has any ideas- actually, I'm pretty open to suggestions, period...!

[Here she finally takes a pause in her slightly too-peppy ramble to take a breath and almost palpably hesitates before continuing.]

Oh, one more thing before I forget- um... it looks like Jack's gone, so I've got a bunch of extra cupcakes I'm probably not going to finish, if anyone wants to drop by and take them off my claws I'd appreciate it.

Have observed some of what trolls experience. Think that's likely to rival any other race's traditions for strangeness. And body count.

[She raises an eyebrow at him though, looking somewhat unsure.]

In most iterations of universe come from, trolls are extremely violent species. Have entire quadrant of romance more or less dedicated to keeping partners from killing each other.

Oh- someone mentioned that to me- Black Romance, right? I never did finish hearing about it...

Am not really best troll to explain it. But will try.

Third party called aupistice usually takes role of keeping blackrom from escalating too much. Is ashen, not black. This is oversimplifying, but conveys basic idea.

Kismesissitude is blackrom. Don't know if any other species has this. Is... fated rivalry.

It's okay, you don't have to go into detail if you don't want... but wow. That sounds... really complicated. Is all troll romance so complex?

I don't think I've heard of it in other species, but I have seen some monsters who sort of... thrive on contention before.

But matespritship seems close to human idea of romance. And moirallegiance is like human best friends. Am oversimplifying again, but those types of relationship have human parallels. So think would be easier to understand.

So your species has a lot of parrallels with the way normies do things, but they're not exactly the same. It's really interesting, honestly. I wish I had a book on it, studying it must be fascinating.

By 'normies,' you mean humans?

Like humans, but don't think they have same emotional capacity as trolls.

Well, humans can be a pretty proprietary species. I can't say too many of them would be able to share well enough to handle troll romance...

Am not sure many of them are sturdy enough.

Each quadrant represents completely different relationship, so don't see any conflict. But humans do seem to think is only possible to have one romantic relationship at time.

Dii knows more about topic than anyone else know.

Well to be fair, a lot of them are way sturdier than they look...

Yeah, if it's not something they're used to, humans have a tendency to wig out a little about relationship things. Seen it a thousand times.

Doubt trolls are immune to agitation of artificial fur over relationships, either.

[Younger ones definitely seem to have their share of drama. Drama Psii has had lives in box locked shut and crammed in closet in darkest part of his mind.]

Have only closely observed best friend's relationship, though, and it's... anomalous. In good way.

Imagine is even considered strange that refer to SS as best friend instead of moirail. But relationship have with him isn't romantic.

You guys sure are an interesting bunch... but you know, sometimes what most consider 'normal' doesn't really work for everyone, so I think it's pretty great that you guys go with what works for you.

Family never had 'normal.' So made it up as went along. Suspect is same for many who've been imported to this universe.
