[Hiro looks dead serious today, and perhaps even a little antsy. He talks with a certain speed and tension, and it's clear that he's troubled.]

Hey, everybody. It's Hiro again. I've got a question for you guys... how do you know when you're "ready" to start going on missions? I haven't even been here for a full month, but given all the crazy stuff that's happened, and especially this most recent problem with the people who disappeared on their missions... I want to help. I don't feel comfortable just sitting around anymore. I didn't sign up for the rescue missions because I wasn't sure I was ready, but now I'm worried. I mean, not like I wasn't worried before, but still. I'd like to start breaking myself in for harder jobs like that.

I'm looking for a Weapon who would be willing to come with me on my first mission. I'd like to meet you in person first so we can talk and maybe practice a bit. I've got one little requirement, though: I think I'd like the mission to be after the Summer Gala, unless we can pull everything off before the 20th. I think that might be rushing things, but we'll see what we plan out. See you soon, hopefully.

My first mission was a few days after I first got here so I guess it depends on how you feel...? But I had my best friend from home as my partner so we already knew each other really well anyway.

Wow, that soon? You must have been really ready to go. Did you have combat experience before coming here? And of course, it helps that you had an easy partner.

Yeah, I had some experience before coming here using a hammer. And then I found out I turned into one. Makes sense, I guess!

Ah, that's neat! I've had no experience using actual weapons before, so I felt a little out of place at first. It feels like a lot of people here really know how to fight.

I'm sure there are a bunch of people here who don't know, but that's why we have training! But you don't have to fight if you don't want to, you know.

Any idea which of the positions that you want?

Hmm... any positions for clerks open? Like, the people who handle the tickets and prizes. That sort of thing.

Actually, yeah, there are. We have plenty of those positions.

... It might be a couple more days before you can start though. I'm helping out with the tours today and tomorrow I'm going on that rescue mission.

Are you okay with starting on the 17th or 18th?

As soon as you are confident in your combat skills and the resonance with your Weapon. Shibusen will not give you overly difficult missions when you are just starting out, but you will still be putting your life on the line.

Mm... well... I don't have any Weapons to resonate with yet. I'm getting a little better with actual physical combat, but... [He sighs.] Waiting around for my skills to improve doesn't feel right anymore. And I know how it feels to have my life on the line. I was in danger nearly every day for eight straight days.

I understand not wanting to wait, however... Remember it won't be just your life at risk, but your partner's as well.

You don't have to be perfect immediately, but at the very least make sure you can achieve a stable resonance with whoever you go with.

That's right. I'll make sure to keep whoever I bring with me safe. And apparently, my Meister ability makes it easier for me to resonate with weapons, so that helps. That's part of why I asked for a practice session, though.

You're never ready. Just remember that.

I guess I know what you mean... Having a video of the death of one of your friends or having a huge alien show up out of nowhere isn't exactly something you can be completely ready for. But with these missions, you at least have an idea of what will happen.

War, battles, fights; it doesn't matter what you come down to calling it but you can never be fully ready for it. The only thing you can do is prepare yourself for the worst and hope for the best. Don't let other people tell you otherwise.

That I'm sick of people not being able to think for themselves, but that's nothing new. Have you found a willing Weapon yet?

How is this not thinking for myself? I'm making the decision to start fighting on Shibusen's side all on my own. I could just stay a civilian and not deal with any of this, but I've already been in this kind of position before. The best thing to do is to act.

...No, haven't found a weapon yet.

That's for the person to decide themselves. If they feel like going right now, then it's okay, and it goes the same if they'd rather do it at a later time as well.

I might be willing to come with you, though that all depends if you're comfortable with using swords.

That'd be great! Swords and sword-like things are what I've been training with, after all. What kind of sword are you? And have you had any previous experience with missions?

Well, I'm a zweihander, but I'm also lightweight so it shouldn't be much of a problem carrying me. And, I've only ever been on two missions so far. One went well, and the other...not so much.

But, I don't mind helping anyone out in the very least.

Hmm... well, if you're pretty light, we should be good to go. And at least you've had one successful mission under your belt. When would you like to meet? Before or after the Gala?
