[She nods firmly, fixing a smile on her face before beginning to speak.]

Hello everyone! My name is Marta. I’m one of the new arrivals. I still don’t really get it, but if there’s a war going on, then I’ll do whatever I can to help. I’m pretty sure that’s what he would want me to do.

I’m a Meister, so I guess I’m supposed to try and pair up with a weapon...but before I worry about that, could anyone give me any tips on settling in? Oor anything else that I should keep in mind? They told me so much when I first got here, but it was so much at once! It’s really hard to remember it all.

[She pauses, seeming to lose her train of thought for a moment before suddenly remembering it.]

Oh! And if anyone sees a boy with short blond hair and green eyes, wearing a black and blue outfit, please let me know! His name is Emil and if he’s here then it’s really important that I find him as soon as possible!

That'd be great. I'm at the mall right now. Should I wait for you outside?

Yes! I'm coming right now.

I'll be waiting!

[And she will be! Oh-so-anxiously.]

[Emil's at the mall as soon as he can and starts looking around immediately. It shouldn't be too hard to--there she is!]

Marta! Over here!

[Marta doesn't stop fidgeting an anxiously looking around until she hears his voice, and her face immediately lights up. In fact, she's so happy to see him that she takes it upon herself to run up to him and immediately try to throw her arms around him.]

EMIIIIL!

[Emil lets her, partially out of shock and partially because hey, it's been a long time for him. Although the attention is still a little embarrassing...]

I'm really glad to see you too, Marta! It's been a while since I last saw you, but - um, what's the last thing you remember at home? It's important, really.

[She lets go of him as he begins asking his question, not wanting to let go of him again, but knowing that she has to.]

The last thing I remember...

[She frowns faintly, almost not wanting to answer, afraid that he would be like Lloyd and Colette, not remembering all of the things that she did. But that was silly, right? Emil was the one person she could trust to be in sync with her.]

After everything was over and everyone went their separate ways I decided to go back to Palmacosta. I wanted to try to find a way to create peace between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla, one that didn't involve the Vanguard's extreme methods, but I found myself here before I could. N-not that I mind! I mean, as long I have you by my side, I don't care where I am.

[After everything was over? Then...]

I don't remember that much. The last thing I remember before coming here was traveling to Altamira, to save Regal and the rest of the city. So does that mean - we did it?

[That thought triggers a lot more, because the months he's spent here means he's had plenty of time to think about what could happen at home.]

How is Regal, and your father? Is everyone all right?

I see...then you don't remember...

[The kiss that they shared that night, the courage that he gave her, saving Daddy--saving her more times and in more ways than he'd ever know, his decision to protect the Ginnungagap, much less the confession that she'd waited so long for--all the memories that she had carved into her heart. It was almost like none of it had never happened. She clenches her shaking fists before opting to fold them behind her back.]

I-I mean, yes! We ended up having to fight Daddy, but because of you--because you were there, because you shared your courage with me, we were able to save him in the end. He did some really terrible things in the name of justice, but still, I....I was just so happy to have him back.

[But that's not really why she's wiping away tears, forcing a smile. Everything feels so surreal. She keeps on talking, but it doesn't feel like she's holding a conversation at all. She wants to scream and cry and shout--but she can't. Because he's always been strong for her, even though she was always so selfish. She wants to do the same for him.]

Regal and the others are fine too, including Richter. I'm sure you've been worried about him too, right?

Richter...

[She'd said it was all over, hadn't she? So then it sounded like everyone had turned out okay. There's so many questions he wants to ask, though, although one thing she's said stands out to him--]

Good. But, um - you said everyone splits up, right? Does that include...us? And Tenebrae?

[Emil's never really given much thought to what he would do after waking Ratatosk, but even if he tries he can't imagine himself just leaving everybody. He's not even sure where else he has to go other than with his friends, unless Luin has changed since he left.]

I think that Tenebrae stayed with you. You were always protecting me, but you're still a Knight of Ratatosk, remember? So it only makes sense that he'd stay with you.

[Though that's not quite it and she knows it. It hurts her, too, having to lie to him again, but how could she possibly tell him the truth? Even if she could find the right words, the fear of what might happen once she did would have been enough to keep her from speaking them.]

A lot of things changed after Ratatosk woke up.

[Unsure how to explain it, she'll let him take that how he will.]

[That's a little vague. And it seems strange, that Tenebrae would stay with him. Tenebrae's one of Ratatosk's Centurions, so he would be working on restoring the world's mana balance. Unless--unless he's doing something, too, as a Knight of Ratatosk? Helping out the Centurions, possibly.

It's not like he can go back to Luin so easily, not unless something's changed.]

Changed. Like me? Am...I working with Ratatosk now?

Yeah, something like that.

[Her eyes flick to the side, then back to him, one hand resting over her stomach. She's lying to him again, just like she did about the Vanguard, Daddy and Ricther and...just about everything else. Thinking about it, she's never really been honest with him, has she? But she just...can't.

All she can do is hope that he'll forgive her when he finds out the truth.]

[Emil knows Marta well enough to tell that something is off, but what? Is it because of him, or it it something that happened? Emil would really hate to have done something to upset her.

Maybe now's not the time to talk about it, though. If it's not something she wants to talk about he doesn't want to force her into anything, especially when he doesn't even know if any of this is true. Trying to be there for her won't hurt, though.]

Well, even if that's what happens...I'm willing to bet we're still friends. Even if I don't remember that, I'm still glad to see you again.

[Oh, Emil, you always know the right thing to say. ♥ That pulls a genuine smile out of her and she finds herself glad for the change in subject.]

Of course. No matter how much time passes, that's one thing that'll never change. [She cocks her head to one side.] So, how long have you been here, anyway?

[It worked? Phew. It's good to know he was able to help.]

I've been here for a few months now - about four or five. It's been a long time...and you're the first person I've met who isn't from two years ago. For some reason everyone I meet from home is from that time, or even earlier before that. Weird, huh?

Yeah. I can't believe the people we traveled with don't remember us at all! But I'm glad that we at least have each other. I can handle the others not knowing me, but if you were to forget me... [she shakes her head] I don't know what I'd do then.

That's...exactly how I felt. When I first saw you I was worried you wouldn't know me either, but I'm really happy to know that you do.

We really do think alike. I'm so glad.

[And that's as good of an excuse as any to latch onto his arm. ♥]
