This place looks really cool, even if there are a bunch of stairs. Kinda looks like one giant cake.

I'm Sora! I was told I was here before, but uh... [ he rubs his nose a little here with a laugh. ] I don't really remember any of it, sorry. But if we were friends before, I'd really like to know. Just because I don't have any memories doesn't mean we aren't still friends, okay?

[ their hearts are still connected and all that fluffy jazz. Sora rests his hands behind his head, thinking. ]

So... When's that morning training again? I kinda want to find a partner really quick, if that's okay.

[He caught that spark of interest. He was all too happy to explain what he could about the ones he worked on.]

Where I come from, which is apparently in the future compared to most, we have a lot of different ships that go into space. One of the most important kinds are called Plant Crackers. They have enough room on board for a lot of people to be able to live on for several months to a couple of years. As you can imagine, they're quite massive.

We were also able to jump to different parts of space.

Why are they called Planet Crackers though?

[ can't blame Sora for being interested. he's... sort of flown through space. sort of.

okay maybe not, but he'd like to! ]

On Earth where I'm from, we used up all of our resources to the point where we had to start seeking out other planets to salvage them from. It's called Plant Cracking because they basically take chunks of the planet and send it into orbit, so the ship can catch it in orbit and bring it on board to extract the resources.

It's a lengthy process that can take up to five years to complete.

[Isaac likes talking about space...a lot. Feels a lot closer to home that way.]

You don't do that to planets that have things living on it, do you?

[justanengineer]

Fortunately for me I never was really a part of doing any of that. I just worked on the ships if there was a problem.

[The question made him uneasy.]

I wanted to question the morality of it myself. Of course there were living things on those planets. We were reassured it wouldn't have a lasting effect on everything, but I don't know if I believe any of it.

You don't think the people in charge would tell the truth?

[justanengineer]

Not where I come from. When something precious like natural resources disappear, the government sees dollar signs and the cover-ups start up.

[He shook his head though.]

I guess here though that isn't the case. I don't get the same kinda feeling from this city.

If it's all that bad, why doesn't anyone do anything?

[justanengineer]

Because the people that did try to do something about it disappeared. People have families. They couldn't risk it. If you give people power, they can do whatever they want with it and feed lies to people.

Disappeared?

[ might have to spell it out for him. he doesn't understand the implication. ]

[Fuck...he was talking to a kid after all. He didn't know if he should approach this delicately or...]

...When I say disappeared, they're gone. They aren't coming back. It doesn't necessarily mean they were killed, but...you just don't see them anymore.

Why would anyone do that?

...I don't know. I honestly don't.

Maybe you're better off here.

Maybe...and maybe not. I had kind of a mission there to get rid of something that was hurting people. As much as I would like to be away from that and all of the problems...I feel like it's my duty now to end it.

[Maybe that sounded stupid though.]

Plus I don't just end up losing people like I do here. They might not die...but they all go away. I think I might be better off before this place.
