[those who know this network id well enough should know that usually its user stays exclusively to voice and text. today seems to be the first break from this pattern, however, as the feed opens to Rose standing in the morgue. those not intimately familiar with the place will have difficulty pegging it as such - the angle of the camera leaves only the very edge of the corpse fridges visible.

Rose's face is carefully neutral, although she's far too pale for comfort. she stands stiff and ramrod straight, the first indication that something is very wrong. when she speaks, her voice is tight but calm.]

We've returned from our mission. I'm afraid that we ran into more trouble than we could handle.

He left me something to give to a friend but I'm afraid that he wasn't able to specify which, only that he had a girlfriend. [she pauses, shifts a little. for a brief moment Rose looks as lost as she feels as she murmurs, words encompassing more than just her last wish dilemma]

This sounds like an utterly horrid time to mention that you've just made an investment in a ride that no longer functions, but I bring the sad tidings to your attention all the same. Such tragedies are the natural outcome when you tangle with a Lalonde in the very familiar territory of unwarranted arrogance.

Bring it on Lalonde. I will make my ride continue onward. You think you got me beat, but shit is just getting started. The family battle between which kid can be more obnoxious and arrogant is still going.

I'm not quite sure whether I should humor your ultimately futile efforts to emerge the victor in this timeless competition, as allowing a loved one to live in a delusional fantasy world has been hotly debated by the experts. For the time being I suppose that I'll simply say nothing and continue to crush your every effort instead; actions speak louder than words, after all.

Moreso than usual, at the very least. I imagine that some poor soul would have to bring you in nightly from the cold in order to keep you from wandering aimlessly through the streets, demoralized and directionless. It's quite a sad possibility to contemplate, and one which I'm extremely glad to be able to prevent to the best of my abilities.

How serendipitous that I'm still wearing my work shoes. If I can manage to muster up enough fortitude I should be able to hold off the tremors until most of the planet can be safely evacuated.
