[Some people have probably already expected something untoward when the ever-present and sparkling Gai-sensei didn't show up to morning practice as he normally does. Since it's still fairly early, Kakashi's absence probably didn't go quite as easily noticed. However, as the one who lived with the two of them, it's up to Obito to be the bearer of bad news.

For a moment, he just sits in silence. Then, once he seems to have gathered himself so that he won't burst into tears during the delivery of at least the initial message, he begins to speak. His words are almost monotone, completely controlled. Very unlike him.]

For anyone interested, both Maito Gai and Hatake Kakashi seem to have returned home. That is all.

[She's quiet for a moment, thoughtful.]

I've had a lot of people tell me they couldn't afford to feel sad and a lot of people tell me that it's okay to feel sad.

I'm not sure which one of them is right, but... [She pressed a hand against her chest.] When it feels heavy here, it doesn't help to just ignore it.

And it only feels heavy because you cared about the people who are gone, right? What's so wrong about that? And what's so wrong about wanting to make the heaviness go away? I don't understand.

[What Eve said made a lot of sense. Why fight against what would make things feel better? It was such a complicated subject.]

[Obito comes to the door, knowing it's Eve just on the other side. He opens it up and steps back to allow her in, acknowledging her presence with a nod.

The house is big. It's a condo after all. But it's very empty, now missing a lot of the homey touches Kakashi and Gai had filled it with. And without any dogs wandering around, it hardly felt like home anymore to Obito.]

[The place did seem awfully big. Keroro and Eve didn't take up that much room themselves, but they've accumulated a lot of stuff over the course of their stay in Death City, so the place they lived in never felt very big.

This place though...it wasn't just the difference in size. It felt an awful lot like how her apartment did when Keroro was sent home...]

[Obito hummed and led her through to the kitchen. It was probably the most homey in there, other than Obito's room. Everything else was so empty.

Pulling out the seats at the bar, he moved to get some tea cups filled and set some sugar out with it on the counter.]

Hope I'm not cutting into your free time with this....

It's fine. [She sits down on one of the seats.] It's my free time to do what I want with. [That's what she's been told free time is for.] And I want to spend it here.

[He nods, giving her a fleeting smile.]

[He sighs and looks around.] It's pretty lonely around here without Gai and Kakashi. And the dogs. They were usually lively enough to make it homey here even when Kakashi and Gai were on missions...

It was like that when Keroro was sent back too. [The apartment had seen that much more empty without him or that strange red Zaku he'd built.]

I'm glad he came back to you. I know you were really lonely and it was hard to judge how to react.
