[Video] In a bit of a Jam - May 12
[Beyond has had to restrain himself all the way to his assigned home. It was so hard not to go and follow that white haired moron who just couldn't bloody give him what he wanted. He's sure that L is here now, if not it's that dumb, useless Naomi Misora. Either way, he had an image to hold up and had decided this was the best way to do things. He looks quite like L, only the smallest, most subtle differences that would require the screen to be closer to see or him in front to relay other than some of the mannerisms that he wasn't able to study in full.
He's laying on his bed, arms outstretched in front of him, on his side with a bit of his cheek hidden in the pillow even if both wide eyes are staring intoyour soul the screen.]
Hello.
As it seems there is a man who both has my name and possibly the answers to who I am. After being toyed with jerked about even by one of your residents I had just met I profess a lesser tolerance for it at this time. He thought it hilarious, I'm sure, to pretend to give a damn and then walk off to leave me questioning both my sanity, my life as it was and just who I can trust around a strange place that I've no knowledge of, no more than a fledgling. I thought that perhaps it wouldn't make a difference if I asked everyone if they know who I am. I've no memories prior to the room and only that Ryuzaki is significant to me.
There must be one compassionate person within the lot of you, I trust that statistics hold out in there is always a chance of meeting someone who doesn't -- how does it go? -- get off on another's misery still applies here.
[He brings his thumb to his lip, eyes wide and unblinking into the mirror while he's seemingly trying to study it while it broadcasts him.]
Also, any information on how to use this system more efficiently would be greatly appreciated. I'd owe you one, in other words.
Thank you.
[Instead of turning off the system, Beyond lets it sit on his bed face down and no more than bare feet are seen walking out of one part of the room and into the next to see just what there was there.]

Hello, Audrey.
My earlier message was one of frustration. I'm glad to see that this place does indeed have its share of-- to use your phrase --bedside manner. I'd offer my name, but I'm not completely sure. When I heard 'Ryuzaki' it did strike me that it might be mine.
Oh! No, I'm afraid Mr. Ryuzaki is already in Death City. Maybe you know him from somewhere?
Though I don't really see how you could forget a person like him...
I-... I don't know. I would have thought someone giving as much active attention to the topic would have at least taken me to meet him, or--
[He licked his bottom lip.]
Or even had him meet me in public if they think I may be a threat. I don't know what to think.
Does he really look like me?
Why would anyone find you a threat? You don't seem very threatening to me.
[ She frowns a little at the very last part. ]
I'm afraid I don't know what Ryuzaki looks like. I have yet to meet him in person. [ The smile returns, accompanied by a slight eyeroll. ] Technology these days... Pretty soon there'll be no reason at all to meet with someone face to face. Sort of sad, really.
Because I am new in a time of war. A very musically talented young man has informed me that these are dangerous times and new people, just as I've learned today, might be taken advantage of. I could only assume that since I believe there are still those willing to take advantage of me, that I myself have to reverse the thought to believe someone would be wary of a new person taking advantage of them. That and only that. One will feel how one feels. You've no worry of me, I couldn't hurt a fly if I asked myself if I could. [He pulls his feet up onto the chair he's in, knees obscuring most of his chest and his chin settled in against them.] I did ask, earlier, in the conversation with that young man.
Don't frown, you're too pretty to wear such a face.
She thinks for a minute, but her curiosity is too much for her. She's having a hard time getting a real read on this guy through video alone, so she needs to meet him in person.
Audrey smiles brightly, making it look quite genuine. ]
Aw, you're so sweet! Hey listen, I'm starved. Feel like meeting up somewhere for some lunch? I'll buy. Give you a proper welcome to Death City.
[ Oh she plays this game too well... ]
...Alright. Let's not exchange residences. I'd prefer directions where to meet you.
Oh, that does sound like a good idea! Never can be too sure about people sometimes...
How about Death By Pastry? I love that place. It's in the shopping district, not far from the salon.
I will gladly meet you there, I can't vouch for how long it will take me from the current location, but I doubt that they would build too far out from the living quarters anywhere. That wouldn't be financially sound.
[ Another smile. ]
See you in a few!
[Action]
He moved along quietly, asking when he had to where the place was, it didn't take long at least. When he got there, he waited on the outside of the doorway, just in case, he peered in every now and again. He paced, too, if someone shot at him, he'd be glad to take hostages from inside.
[Action] hope you don't mind continued action tagging from me! \o
She pulls on her jacket before exiting the apartment, making sure to lock the door behind her. As she goes down the stairs to the ground floor of her apartment building, she makes sure and leave Dwight a message on his phone. She has a weird feeling about this one, but the need to investigate is, as always, stronger than her instinct for self-preservation.
She manages to get to the shop without too much delay, but the tension she's soaking up from the surrounding locals is suffocating. As she approaches Death By Pastry, though, she smiles when she sees New Ryuzaki standing outside, waiting for her. She takes a deep, subtle breath as she approaches. ]
Told you it was a quick trip over here. I hope you didn't come across any more... [ She glances around at the glares they're getting here and there from the Death City residents passing by. ] Any more hostility, I mean. It can get a little rowdy out here these days. [ Thankfully though her broken left arm has been moved from the sling to a hard cast, so she's a little more capable of taking care of herself in a fight. ]
Nope, 's fine by me, do action how y'gotta
"No," he said with a little bit of confidence, "I've met very amiable people so far aside the one sadist here."
[action]
Well that's no good. [ She grabs the handle and opens the door, holding it open for him. ] Here, let's go on inside and buy you a cupcake. Or something. [ She chuckles quietly. ]
no subject
"Jam." he said, thumb moving up to his lip with a shift of his shirt, other hand still hanging in the air doing nothing. "Anything with Strawberry Jam, please."
no subject
Still, she smiles, chuckling a little at that. ] I'm sure they've got something filled. Or we might just ask for some on the side, and you could dip or smother to your heart's content.
[ Right then, as she nodded to him appreciatively for her, there was a buzz in her right jacket pocket. She passed through the door frame, into the establishment, pulling her communicator out of her pocket and reading over the text from Dwight.
Blinking a couple times, she licked her lips and looked New Ryuzaki in the eye. ]
Would you like to meet some more people? My partner's in the area and was planning to stop by anyway.
[ Smooth, Parker. Stay smooth. ]

But then again, maybe meeting strangers was also a little bit tedious for women. After all, if at least one of the women he'd gone away with would have been smart enough to have someone around, then maybe she'd still be alive. "No. I wouldn't." he said specifically, but moved along into the cafe.
"However," he stated, thumb pushing against the middle of his lips, "You would feel at ease, correct?"
no subject
Audrey gawks at him for a moment, the gears turning, and she tries to get a handle on what it is that's picking at the edges of her senses. There's something slightly off, but she still can't pick anything up past the tension from the rest of the city.
After a moment's hesitation, she just smiles gently, nodding. ]
Yes, actually. It would. Thank you for thinking of my comfort.
But really, if it would make you uncomfortable, I'd rather not do that. I just figured that the more nice people you meet, the higher the possibility of giving you a better impression of the city than you got before. [ She shrugs, very noncommittal. ]
no subject
I would rather you be at ease than think I am a threat to you, Miss.
[He shuffles forward, quietly albeit the shuffle wasn't and stared quite child-like into the pastry area glassed off to display.]
Does he live close?
no subject
Her smile broadens. ]
Well, thank you. That's very considerate. Though I really don't think you're a threat. [ A little strange, sure, and if you'd been around the kind of "strange" people she had, you'd be wary too. ]
He actually lives with me- Well we live together. But I haven't really seen much of him today.
[ She catches him watching the pastry, with an intensity that reminds her of a lion eyeing gazelle. ] Want one?
no subject
Won't your husband be jealous, then? Of meeting other people?
[Without really giving too much thought, he answers simply.]
Yes.
However, it's easier if you choose. I've--
[He looks up at her, then the desserts and treats as though a lightbulb just went off.]
Strawberry is the only sort I've ever enjoyed.
[It's said as though the 'memory' pulled into his mind simply from a situation in which it lived behind some sort of block.]
How queer, that I'd remember a food.
no subject
Until the word husband reverberates through her senses. At that one, she just stops, staring at him, pretty much unable to follow the rest of his speech because her mind is busy trying to overcome the shock of what's just been implied.
The blond can't help gawking at the newcomer, and after he's done making his revelation - which is important, she can't deny that - she speaks up. ]
Whoa whoa whoa whoa. [ So much head shaking and just. ALL THE AWKWARDNESS EVER. ] Dwight is my partner. But he isn't my husband. I've got partners out the backside, but not a single husband.
[ For some reason, there's this unspoken yet despite the fact that Audrey (as she sees it, anyway) is nowhere near marriage, and won't be until she figures out the truth behind who she really is. ]
But uh. [ She's trying hard to recover. ] But that's- that's good! That's great. You're remembering things! [ She smiles broadly, proud for him. Every time she remembers something from her time spent as Lucy, she ends up with a migraine and a nosebleed. The fact that he's recalling some aspect of his life without any sign of either symptom impresses her. ]
no subject
But of course, why would your husband be single?
[He sets out to look back at the pastry.]
You should call your friend, I've hunting to do after this.
no subject
Deep breaths, Parker, just take deep breaths. ]
I don't have a husband, that's what I'm trying to say.
[ She frowns at the last part; it seems like such an out of place phrase. ] What hunting? [ She sends Dwight a quick text: HURRY. ]
i can delete if i'm early 83
That was the guy? Interesting. Audrey made weird friends.
The little bell dings and he pointedly ignores the glares from patrons, making his way over to the pair.]
:> you're fine.
