How do you celebrate birthdays, where you come from?

I need to get a present for someone, but I'm not sure what it should be. It's for a man in his mid-twenties...

They're more important to children than to adults. Still, it's normal to have cake and to give someone a present. Brother and I haven't been able to have birthdays together in a long time, so I wanted to celebrate this one.
