How do you celebrate birthdays, where you come from?

I need to get a present for someone, but I'm not sure what it should be. It's for a man in his mid-twenties...

Ah, for those of you who know Heiwajima Shizuo, it's his birthday tomorrow. Just in case someone wanted to know.
