second dream ♔ voice (june 15)

[sugata was used to living a normal quiet life, so dealing with slow days was alright. but this was getting ridiculous. he wanted to do things! but he couldn't really do a lot due to an unfortunate circumstance. and if he had to watch one more death-themed cooking show he was going to blow. this cabin fever was going to be the death of him.]

What do you all do to pass the time here? Other than working or going on missions. [as much as he'd like to help, he can't really go out on any rescue missions right now.]

[Yamazaki pours the tea into the cups while he's thinking of what Sugata just said. It would be pleasant to jump into the cool water in this hot weather.]

An island? What was it like? Did you like to live there?

[The thought of being surrounded by so much water is not too pleasant, though.]

It's pretty cozy. We aren't a deserted island or anything like that, we have a movie theater among many other stores. It's very beautiful too. [he's going to avoid yamazaki's question if he likes living there though.]

I see, so it was not an abandoned place full of wrecked ships and man-eating sharks...Maybe it's not as terrible to live on an island like yours. If only that much water was not there...[Yamazaki sighs and sips from the tea. Nothing is perfect.]

Talking about water... there is a lake in the park, and I didn't hear it's forbidden to swim in it.

It's not. It's very lively and definitely void of wrecked ships. Man eating sharks tho... you'll probably find those further in the water. [he's mostly kidding tho.] It does? I didn't know it had a lake. Though-- I'm not sure I want to go swimming in a murky lake.

I'll definitely won't look for those sharks. If they want to get me they have to come out of water...[Victory of logic! Where are the fireworks?] So did you like to live there? Is your family, friends, anyone you miss still there?

[they used up most of them to blow up takuto's room. sorry you missed out on that.] It was alright. I think the only person I miss that isn't here is my childhood friend Wako.

One of them was. But my childhood friend wasn't. She's still back home on the island.

[he nods his head.] Yes, that would be Wako. And... yes she's a girl.

Don't you...want to talk about her? When I came here I always wanted to talk about the world I left behind, so if you think so, you can tell of Wako-san and that non-abandoned, shark-free island. If you want to.

[It's a sincere offer, there's no information gathering or any shady business behind it.]

Talk about her...? [of course he wanted to talk about her. he would talk about her everyday if it either a) didn't get on other peoples nerves, or b) make him miss her more.] Well she's been my best friend since childhood. We're... sort of alike in some ways in that neither of can ever leave our island. [he waves a hand.] It's got something to do with certain... rules that go back in our families for generations. They differ slightly between her family and mine, but they're still the same. But she's so nice and she never lets that get her down.

Even if it means sacrificing her own dreams of being an idol she just... keeps smiling. If there was anything I could do to get rid of that stupid law, I would do it without a second thought. She... she deserves to have that dream, something of her own. Something to feel proud of. And I'm sure you'd agree if you heard her sing. Her voice is amazing. [he shakes his head and sighs.] I never realized how hard it was going to be from being with someone for practically you're whole life and then suddenly not having them. It's especially hard when I see something that reminds me of her. That usually happens when I'm eating. She-- [he shakes his head once more.] I'm sorry that just... came out of nowhere.

[Hopefully Sugata knows he just told Yamazaki he was in love with Wako.

Yamazaki just nodded hearing that comment on Sugata and Wako had to stay on the island. They were young but they didn't have a place to go and must stay even though they wanted to fly away. Yamazaki wished if he had the power and coerce BREW to bring Wako here for Sugata's sake. And the family issues...his father, the acupuncture lessons and all the needles. Yet he smiled as Sugata talked about their families and he almost saw that young, cheerful girl in front of him, singing. And again, he wished if he had the power to do something for her and for Sugata. Wako-san could be an idol here in Death City and Yamazaki felt that her voice was made a powerful weapon against the Witches, just like Tom Jones did in Mars Attack! well, not exactly like he did, maybe.And then...]

How is that eating reminds you of the girl you...like so much?

[he's just going to let that comment about him liking her slide. because it's true, so he has no reason to dismiss or get upset over it.]

She has a thunderous appetite. So she's constantly eating, or thinking about food.

[It's good Sugata doesn't react on that word, it's not Yamazaki's business.]

Now that you mention it...I've never saw her but there's a girl in this city who came from a different world and her name is Wako...if I'm right. Can't she be your Wako???

[Yamazaki's so excited that he spills out his tea but he doesn't care.]

[his brows raise a little.] You mean Yako? I-- don't think she'd like that if I made her my Wako. I'm sure she'd want to be her own person. And besides, I don't think Takuto would like that if I went after his girlfriend.

"Yako? I thought her name was Wako...so she's not your girlfr...not your childhood friend. It would have been so nice to know her here.

[Yamazaki's a bit sad that Sugata's not!girlfriend is not in Death City, after all.]

And is she Takuto-kun's girlfriend? Is he the same Takuto-kun who's leading the Drama Club?

Wako is my friend from home, Yako is the girl that is here in Death City. But no, Yako isn't my friend from home. [he nods his head as he pauses to sip his tea.] And yes, that would be the same Takuto. He's dating Yako.

Names are very confusing sometimes. Don't you call her Wako sometimes, accidentally?

[He would surely do it a few times. Names rea difficult to remember. Yamazaki smiles at Sugata]

I am a member of the club, too. I got the role of...a weird guy who did weird things. If you'd like to join Takuto-kun would surely find you a fitting role.

They can be, but I don't. It's easy for me to not call her that because she isn't Wako.

And I actually already have a role in the play.

And who will you play? Do we have common scenes? I'll play Inigo Montoya.

[Except that he won't because Takuto would kick him out of the club when he finds out that Yamazaki thinks of himself as Sai's friend...]

No, wait she was played by the feferi...She was sent home too, I guess. Isn't it saddening, that BREW always sends home people you've came to like? And when I arrived I thought of that machine as a god...

[The last time Yamazaki practiced playing Inigo the Princess was played by a tiny, grey-skinned feferi who had reddish-orange horns.]

You know...I'm kind of glad I'm not the main character. No, it's no offense, I am sure you'll be a very good princess! I'd just prefer not to play I'm falling for a Princess who is...you.

[he looks up as he takes another sip of the tea.] I can see where you're coming from with that. It can bringeth and taketh people away, after all.

And yes, that would be quite hard to portray. But I'm sure that in itself would make a rather interesting play.

Yes, that's it, BREW was like...basically I came like like newborn kid. It's good that I wore my uniform.
