I see no point in beating around the bush as they say. How are things on your end?

I'm still sporting a black eye [that's an exaggeration but his cheekbone sure still hurts] from my last meeting with Takuto, but otherwise everything's swell. The project should be ready for presentation soon.

What happened?

...He punched me in the face. [The heresy. Can you imagine it?]

[As always he didn't crack his stone face and proceeded to clarify his question.]

And one where provocation was involved, I assume? What reason was there for him to throw one?

[That makes it kind of worse, you know? He sighs and shakes his head, looking only the tiniest bit guilty.]

He asked me to become his Weapon and I declined. He wouldn't give up so we ended up settling the argument with a fight.

[He gave a slight surprised look to that. He... declined it? That was news to Viede.]

I was under a different impression according to him. Was he not a good match for the project?

[Though he could kind of see why.]

He has a certain risk potential. I wasn't keen on testing that, but...

[His expression turns into a smirk.]

He has a strong will.

[His own didn't change but he fully understood what the other meant and gave a nod.]

I sensed it as well when I spoke to him in Vegas. And? What's the plan?

[The smirk vanishes.]

You spoke to him in Vegas? What was your expression of him?

Hn. I did. Just as you said, strong willed and also young. The righteous type is what I gathered from our brief meet.

Righteous but not yet completely set in his ways. I think he will do as a replacement for Chrono for now.

Replacement for Chrono?

Yeah. I don't think that he'd feel working directly with us for the moment due to the events right before he arrived here.

How much did he tell you?

[That made him slightly raise both brows. So Aion did feel wary of Chrono because of that incident... well, he couldn't blame him.]

I see. All that's happened prior to his arrival and how he's spoken to you about it as well.

I see. ...Do you think I made a mistake?

[He leaves it up to Viede whether he wants to take that question meaning not telling Viede up till nor or what happened between him and Chrono.]

[He stared at him for a moment, contemplating on what he meant though he went with his gut instinct here. He knew well Aion was working hard for their cause.]

No. I trust your judgement.

[The answer makes Aion chuckle, half from relief and half because it was so predictable coming from Viede.]

Sometimes I'm not all that sure if that's really such a good idea. I make mistakes too, Viede. Sometimes.

Certainly, though one cannot progress much without taking the occasional risk, no?

[He chuckles at this. Smiling gratefully, he nods.]

No. Or rather, yes, without taking risks nothing will ever happen. Thanks, Viede.

[He simply nodded with a small smile of his own to acknowledge the thanks.]

[He nods once, signaling an end of the topic.]

By the way, the house has been finished so we can start making it public soon. You'll see, I made sure that it has been worth it.

[It takes a bit of time to decide if he should reply, but the guy sounds polite enough. He still isn't sure about this Weapon and Meister business. A little small talk never hurt anybody and it kept his mind off of being here.]

...What kind of Weapon are you looking for?

A gun of sort if possible though I have experience with the sword as well. Are you either of those two?

[He really hates to admit it, but...]

I'll be honest with you that I do not know what I am. Spoke to a few people that told me to fall down some stairs and find out. Might have to do that. Just asking in the off chance I find out I'm something you might end up needing. I wouldn't mind helping somebody else out that ended up stuck here too.

I see. I know a few others who have experienced similar difficulties though they knew little to nothing of being a soldier or setting foot on a battlefield. How is it for you?

I'm an engineer. I fix a lot of stuff that needs fixing. I...was on a fairly routine mission and ended up in the middle of a nightmare. Only thing I could do was fight to survive with what I had. Might not have started out as a soldier, but I know what it feels like to be one now.

If we're stuck in one now then I can't just sit back and act like I do not have a thing to offer.

What about you? Did you come from the middle of a battlefield too?

More or less. [It wasn't a lie though it was no longer for their queen but for their freedom.] I was born a soldier one could say.

One method that I've heard of is to deeply meditate and think of what you wish to become in order to fight. Think of its shape, attributes, size, weight, anything pertaining to it. What is it you fix?

Must be tough to not have a choice like that...gotta do what you gotta do though if it was worth it.

[Isaac wasn't about to make this guy talk about where he came from if he did not intend on saying it right now. Some things were difficult.]

Meditation though, huh? You know...I wasn't ever good at that. Never got the chance to sit still though. I think I'll give that a shot. It beats falling down some stairs.

As for what I fix...I fixed a lot of pretty big commercial ships in space....did things like repairing communications, restored navigation, hacking into the systems and routing power to the right sources, gravitational tethers, taking machines apart and putting them back together...all in a day's work so to speak.

[Worth? Truly, he wasn't sure about that one, but it did have its benefits. He was able to escape after all and be of use, right? As far as tough went? Well...]

I knew of nothing else so there was nothing to compare.

[Every task the man mentioned seemed useful in one way or another. He was certainly someone to consider to recruit for his leader but slowly of course. He had yet to know the man after all. As for being a weapon... He wasn't too certain about that one but even Shader's had its benefits. It was better than nothing.]

Sounds more like support. I ask since one of the key aspect in doing so is to think of your daily tasks and become something that you normally use.

[Support...he had a feeling this guy was onto something with that. It was just a feeling. Though it brought up some memories he was trying really hard to suppress right now, this had to be the first step in figuring out what he was here.]

Guess that makes the most sense. Strangely enough, the sort of equipment I used for my daily repairs and support for these ships ended up getting used as weapons. A lot of what I thought was just a tool became a method of...cutting down the enemy. It was more efficient...

[Could it be one of his hand-held tools? It would make the most sense.]

[That sounded promising to Viede. If anything, it sounded very close to resembling a sword of sort. He could work with that unlike what Shader had originally turned into.]

I see. Such as what tool? If it's capable of striking an enemy than it is more than sufficient to be considered a weapon. I also wish to know more of the kind of enemies you fought.

Well I had stuff like plasma cutters, rivet guns, javelin guns...those were normally used to fix the equipment I was supposed to work on. I did get firearms later on, but I doubt I would change into that if this place likes to give me a form for something I didn't normally use, right?

[But that wasn't all that he used. If this place took tools and made them into weapons then it could easily be any of the other standard tools he had that didn't happen to be vaguely gun shaped.]

I had a different tool. We used it to move equipment. We nicknamed it G.R.I.P. The basic principal of a part you could put on it was to manipulate the gravity of an object, such as a piece of equipment, and being able to move it as if it was nothing....

[Got him going on a tangent until he temporarily pauses over realizing what he was asked about the enemies he fought.]

[This is the part where Isaac doesn't feel comfortable telling everything to just anybody. He felt slightly ill thinking about it.]

...They were called Necromorphs. They...uh...used to be people. There was an artifact called the Marker. It first showed up on Earth...

[How much was he going to be able to say? He sure as hell wasn't going to be able to go into everything. He looked over his shoulder a moment before speaking again.]

...it did things to the bodies...turned them into these...things that didn't even look human anymore...or maybe they looked too human...I had to use those tools to take them apart.

Hn. Sounds like it would be of good use in battle. Essentially, the physical fighting will be up to the Meister so there's no need to take concern there. However, our ideals much be close enough for us to resonate. That being said, what do you think of this war?

[Isaac is somewhat taken aback that he was not questioned further on the Necromorphs, but he would be lying if he didn't appreciate the hell out of that. He swallowed a bit before managing a light chuckle.]

Yeah...I always thought the name was kind of clever. It sure was handy in a fight. If I did turn into that, I'm sure it would be as useful in some way even here.

[His ideals, huh? As much as it would do him good to be away from what he came out of, there was still people like Ellie and like other innocent people that would end up wrapped up in the Marker. If anybody was going to stop it. he would try and see it through to the end.]

I think it's something we have to do if we were pulled here to do it. if we don't then none of us can go back where we came from. I'll be damned if I just sit back and don't do a thing. If we have to fight to be able to leave then it needs to be done right, so we can all get back to our own wars as soon as possible.

[Viede more or less agreed to what the man had to say. Though if and ever push came to shove, he was prepared to follow the footsteps of his leader, who would think of the most optimal route for them to return. He could work with this one for now.]

[That was a relief. he wouldn't mind at all being around somebody who was this straightforward and having the same or nearly the same ideals was...well...ideal.]
