[The video is bouncing all over, showing brief flashes of flame, and Shin's foot trying to stomp it out to no avail.]

Shit!

[There's a sound of crashing, with more wild shots of the room and fire. The ground is still rolling and groaning, causing even more things to crash and glass to shatter. There's a flash of his bass guitar as he reached for it, his hand red and his shirt sleeve scorched. He then runs for the door, getting tossed back and forth by the rolling ground.

The video keeps recording as he stumbles into the hall. The quake subsides and he takes that chance to head down the stairs and out of the building, the camera occasionally getting a shot of him looking panicked.

In the lobby he finally looked down at the device in his hand, still not seeming to notice that the video was already recording.]

Room 7G is on fire!

<small>((OOC: The culprit was beer spilling into the couch, and then the cigarette he was smoking landing on top of it. He's not hurt badly, mostly just shaken. He managed to save the bass he arrived with, but most of the rest of his things will at least be damaged. Anyone who wants to respond, either because of his injury or just because he seems to be out an apartment now, you're welcome to!))</small>

Shin! Are you okay?

[Shin's sitting leaned up against the wall of the building. The hand not holding the mirror was around the neck of his guitar as he held it in his lap; it's definitely burnt, but not badly.]

Yeah, I'm fine.

What happened? Where are you right now.

When the earthquake started my beer spilled on the couch and I dropped my cigarette. It caught rather quickly.

Ah, so that was it. Are you in the building, still? I'm almost there.

I'm outside. You don't have to rush here, it's okay.

Well, what about the fire? You can't just leave it that way?!

Hence the SOS. Unless there's a way to contact the fire department? Is there a fire department?

Hold on--

[Ling turns his mirror to voice. He runs into a Shibusen security box nearby and informs them of the situation. Because he'll feel weird just leaving it.]

Ah, they say they'll take care of it ASAP, so don't go back for safety reasons. But I'm coming to find you anyway.

[In a minute, Ling suddenly pops up from RIGHTBEHINDYOU]

Shin! I'm here. You burned or anything? Let me give you first aiiiiid!

Ah, I'm fine really, [ignore that the hand holding his cigarette is burned, though not badly. He sighs as he breathes out smoke.] Looks like I'm going to need a new wardrobe.

[Ling can't ignore that. He quickly puts on a serious face, bends down to check out why Shin's hand is now pink and red.]

Oi, oi. Look at your hand, you. What did you do to yourself! You're burned!

[Now he's unshouldering the first aid kit he's been carrying with him.]

[Shin ran his other hand through his hair.] My fingers are fine, so it's really nothing. It's not a bad burn at all.

[He'll begrudgingly let Ling check his hands, hanging the cigarette from his lip.]

It's not a bad burn, but this will help it get better fasterrrrr.

[Ling squirts a little ointment onto Shin's hand, and begins wrapping it carefully with a roll of clean bandages.]

Yup, if you were burned bad enough to damage your nerves, think of all the things you might not be able to do so well anymore. You couldn't make your music, for one.

[Shin just frowned at that, keeping his thoughts to himself as he let Ling wrap his hand. The idea clearly upset him though, but he also seemed troubled.]

[Ling ties a tiny, neat little bow in the bandage on the back of Shin's hand.]

There! All done. I just wrapped it loosely with one layer of gauze, to protect it but let air get through. Try to keep it dry, and then by tomorrow, it should start to feel a little better.

[Ling grins at Shin, not understanding all the feelings that might be happening and why.]

Okay?

[Shin banishes the dark look and smiles up at Ling.] Yeah, thanks! You're a big help.

It looks like I'm going to need to start looking for a new place.

You can always stay at mine if you need a place to sleep. I don't mind!

Ah, that'd be great. Until I can get a new place at least.

Of course, of course! My place is really boring, so it'll be nice to have company. You can even sleep in the bed. I'm not fond of it anyway.

Why don't you like the bed?

[Ling's lower lip pooches out pitifully. You can practically hear the sad violin music in the background as he says in a sorrowful tone:]

It's too smaaaall. And it's uncomfortable, and hard. My feet hang out of it.

Ah, maybe you should get a bigger one then? [He'll fit into the bed fine at least.] If not the bed, what do you sleep on?

The "sofa." Or the floor. I'll get a decently sized bed when I have the money to. If I ever find one that's decently sized, that is. I don't think I will in the stores they have in this city. Can you believe what the people in this world think is a "King Size"?

[Ling scowls and shakes his head, clucking his tongue]

No, no no nonono. Why, I'm pretty sure my cooks had bigger beds than those things!

[Shin laughed a bit,] I've spent most of my life sleeping either in a woman's bed or on a bed roll. But I'm still short. I don't have to worry too much about how long a bed is.

A woman's bed? [Blink]

Ohhhh! Did you have a nursemaid too? Awwwwww, that brings back nice memoriesssss. I was so attached to mine, I got to share her bed to keep warm, and she used to sing songs and make little puppet shows for me and everything.

Ah, so I'm not the only one who's got father problems. Reassuring to know that I'm not alone.

[This was Ling's indirect, face-saving way of saying to Shin that he's not alone, either. He nods, with a small smile.]

True. It look to me like you've done pretty well for yourself. Is that actually why you started playing? Your father?

Shin! [goddamnit, she can't leave now]

[He sighs, smoke slipping out of his lips.] I'm okay. [Well, minus that redness on his hands and arms underneath the burnt sleeve. But as he's holding his cigarette in that hand, it can't be that bad.] But I think I'm going to be out of a place for a bit.

I'm sorry, I can't do much right now.

I'm sure Shibusen will provide you with a room, please don't worry.

It's all right. I know a few people. If I can borrow I shirt I know a few women... oh, I think I know one who'd be glad to have me with no shirt.

Maybe Haru or Envy'll put me up until they've got me a new room.
