[sometime during the late afternoon, another feed pops up on the network; this time Maka is on the air, with Soul tagging on right beside her, although it seems as if she's the one holding the device as they trek down Shibusen's impressively long staircase]

Hey, everyone-- Maka here, along with Soul- [she nods a little in his direction] -and we just got back from a mission we were sent on, which is why we had been absent for a while. Which-- I apologize on, especially after we heard what happened the past few days...

[Soul, in the meantime, is walking along in his usual fashion: hands in his pockets, jaw slack, wearing boredom the way he wears his clothes. He glances at his partner once, then looks back at the camera.]

Everyone all right? [A beat.] You better be.

[in response, Maka simply gives him one of those looks (that sort of frankness wasn't needed right now!), turning the camera a little more away from him]

-- What he means to say is, we hope everyone's all right, or at least is going to be. So if anyone ever needs anything or just wants to let us know what's up, give me a call, okay?

[Aww, c’mon, Maka, they don’t have to babysit, do they? -A-

Still, he’s breathing a sigh out of his mouth.]

Yeah, what she said. [Siiiigh.] And if anyone cares, we’re fine. [Obviously, his look seems to say. Since he’s a Deathscythe, aww yis.]

There is no need to apologize. It would have been bad if Soul had ingested more of the black blood. [Which she means to say, that it might actually be a good thing that Maka and Soul had been away on a mission the past week.]

[Oh yeah, huh...

Rubbing the back of his neck now, looking a bit sheepish.]

How did everyone else manage, Professor?

[as blandly as she can manage:] Badly.

Oh. Guess that isn't surprising.

It is a different form of madness than what they are used to dealing with, I suppose. It took everyone by surprise.

Won't happen again, though, will it?

[Or they'll try, at any rate.]

I cannot say that they won't try again, considering how very effective it seems to be, but we will certainly not let it happen again.

Sounds good, Professor. There anything Maka and I can do now?

... Talk to the ones who were heavily affected by their ordeals. You two have experience dealing with the black blood.

[Maka glances off to the side, admittedly unsure how to take the response. yeah, but... augh, it really was a double-edged sword here. she tries not to frown.]

... Right, I understand.

[is all she can manage to say, she supposes.]

Are you managing well, Miss Azusa?

Quite well. The city did not fall, which is more than what I can say considering the scale of the attack and the numbers involved. [And the fact that a lot of their own people - the very guests they meant to rely on - were the ones who halved the city's defenses, under the influence of the black blood.]
