I'm glad those that were taken are back again. That's a relief. And things seem to be calming down with the effects of the water supply. I'm...sorry to those who knew Mister Ryuuji. I wish there was a way to end this war without losing anyone. [It's idealistic and perhaps naive, but Colette truly never wants anyone to be hurt (emotionally or physically), or killed if there might be another way around it.]

A-anyway, um, welcome back to everyone that left on the missions! I was just....wondering. I haven't seen Zelos in a bit. I don't suppose anyone else knows where he is?

Yes. I'm in my room if you wanted to see me. Is everything all right, Fuuka?

Yeah, everything is fine.

Um...I'll be at the apartment pretty soon!

[And soon later, have a knock at the door!]

[And Colette is fairly quick to come answer the door, a small smile when she sees her partner.]

Fuuka! [Standing aside to let her partner in, gesturing to the chair at her desk as Colette herself sits on the bed.]

What did you want to talk about?

[For the most part, Fuuka didn't really say much until she sat on the chair Colette gestured. How could she mention this to Colette? For the past 2 months, she thought that she could handle it by herself. She hated to burden her friends but now she wasn't too sure what else to do. With Valentine's Day around the corner, she hated to ask Minako about this issue...and she didn't want to ask anyone too...but....]

Colette-san...[pause] how...how do you get over a former love?

[Colette waited patiently as Fuuka sat down, willing to listen and help however she could. The question did not involve something Colette had first hand experience with. Lloyd was not really a former love, given they had only ever been, and only were, good friends. There was more feeling on Colette's part, she couldn't say for Lloyd but given her circumstances, she felt it best not to say anything about the depth of her feelings for the boy.]

I...have not really been in that situation. But, I know I like someone, I care about them very much, and I want him to be happy, even if I was not sure it would ever... [A pause, shaking her head.] My situation was...different, but for me, I just reminded myself whether we were together or not did not matter. As long as he is happy, that's what matters and that is what matters when you care about someone. Even if things might be different, it doesn't mean you couldn't still be friends? I guess, the important thing might be that the other person, or you, might need some time.

Ah, I don't know if I'm really the person to say much about this, but I want to help. I guess I never really thought about...being with anyone.

[Trying to have a relationship when you know you will likely die at sixteen would be kind of selfish, wouldn't it? That's a big part in why Colette never said anything about her feelings for Lloyd, merely content to let her actions speak for themselves in a way. But regardless, people could still tell how she felt all the same after seeing them together.]

We are friends and we still are. [This was difficult] It's just...

Another friend of mine is in love with him too and she went through so much for him. It wouldn't be fair for me to take him away for her. [She told Yukari about this but the last time she did, she was from a different time from her. She didn't know about what happened to Minato just yet...] I told her about my feelings for him but ,when I finally told him, I felt...guilty.

I thought for a while as long as he is happy, so am I. However, after 2 months, it doesn't seem to work. ...Is it selfish of me for wanting to have him all to myself?

I see....

[This did seem pretty complicated, and Colette does not know all the details.]

I don't think it's selfish, but if the both of you like him and he knows...um, wouldn't it be up to him, who he wants to be with most?

[Because, that's the point, right? That friends and partners were happy together? If he chose one of them, it would mean he wanted to be with her more. This seems the easiest solution Colette can think of, but there might be more to it that she is unaware of, not to mention she has never had experience with relationships like this.]

It would.

I...I haven't really talked to him about it. The last time we did was...perhaps 2 months ago. [Was she scared that he'll reject her? That he'll choose Yukari? That...and Minato seems to be happier being single]

I'm scared he'll reject me.

I know, sometimes telling your friends things....can be scary. But sometimes it helps, too. You can't know for sure what he might say unless you really sit down and talk with him about it, right? Even if it is scary. I think...the chance of being happy with someone, it'd be worth the risk.

[Maybe if her own situation was different...she and Lloyd might be like that. Though she is not sure she would ever really tell him how she feels. She is still just coming to terms with the idea that she won't die at the Final Seal and all.]

I suppose you're right. [But she was right, he had to talk to Minato sooner or later. Now that Yukari was gone, who knows what his answer might be] It wouldn't be fair to keep this to myself from him...

If you don't talk to him, he might not know that it's still upsetting you now, so...I think talking to him about it would be a good idea. Then he can decide what to do about it. [Colette was never one to burden others with her problems but she did always like to try and help others when she could, especially her friends. If only she could apply that to herself.]

Yeah, it might be a good idea.

[Then there was a small smile]

Thank you, Colette-san, I really needed it.

Ah, yes. I'm not sure how much I could help, I don't really....have experience with things like that but since you came to me about it, I wanted to try. I hope things work out though!

I hope so too!

[Then there was a pause]

I don't mean to be rude but ...I heard you talking about someone in your life too?

Oh. Well, um....there's...Lloyd. But it's not like I've ever actually told him how I feel. [There was a lot in the way of Colette having any kind of relationship. It's a wonder she had any friends at all given the town of Iselia were all pretty much expecting her to die on her Journey and all. It was the main reason she had not said anything aloud about her feelings for Lloyd, but there was also the anxiety in that if he felt the same way. Not that she had ever really even considered the possibility of living long enough to actually be in a romantic relationship with someone.]

Um...could I ask why not? [Because it wouldn't be fair for her to talk all her feelings out with Colette and not to help her with anything in return. Now that she thought about it, she and Colette probably have a lot of talking to do.]

Well....because...because of the Journey. Not every Chosen is successful, and even if they are...they don't tend to return. [Which Fuuka can probably guess some amount of the truth of what is supposed to happen to Colette back home. With something like that weighing on her shoulders, it did not seem fair to take any relationship too far. Doing so would only end in more pain when they found out the truth, that Colette was supposed to die. And even those who would make it to the Final Seal, they would be taken as potential candidates to be a vassal for Martel and all.]

[After she heard Colette's response, Fuuka suddenly felt guilty.]

Oh, I see, I-I'm sorry. Perhaps...I shouldn't have said that. [Although, she can somewhat relate. After all, Minato did risk his life to save all of them]

Ah, n-no, it's okay! I like that you came to me about it. The more partners know about each other and the better they work together the better the missions should go and all. I don't mind. I'm just sorry it isn't something I have more experience with to help.

[Because of course Fuuka is the most important and Colette wants to help.]

No, it's fine! I'm glad that I talked to you about this!

[pause] It isn't good to keep things bottled up.

Yes. I'm glad you did too. It's...not good, to keep things bottled up.

[If only Colette would take her own advice. :l]

Mind if I ask you another question? [Pause]

There's something else that I have been wondering. If your friend comes here and she was in love with the same person...what would you do?

W-well....if she talked to Lloyd and he was okay with it and happy....I'd be glad someone was able to make him smile that much.

[Because Colette is ever the selfless one and of course, she has never even entertained the idea Sheena or Presea or Raine felt the same way she did about Lloyd.]

[There was a long pause coming from Fuuka]

It seems that we have a lot more in common than we thought. That's...why I was asking how to get over a former love.

[Colette manages a small smile. Certainly, in a lot of ways Fuuka was perhaps more similar to her than Shishito had been.]

It seems so. I'm glad you came to me. I just wish I could help more, but I don't really have any experience like this.....I guess it mostly depends on what he chooses. Talking to him and seeing where it goes from there? You might not need to get over him if he decides he wants to be with you, Fuuka.
