[There's the sound of someone unfolding a piece of paper. Hyoubu takes his time doing this, so for a few seconds all there is is the sound of rustling paper, and a sharp 'pop' when he suddenly pulls on the bottom and top to straighten it out.
He sounds amused when he begins speaking.]
Looks like someone [Read: him.] has been busy putting up some flyers in the city. It looks like pretty interesting stuff! Ah. [He paused as if he only just realized this was a voice post.] Right, you can't see it even if I point the communicator at it, can you? Here, let me read it out to you.
Ahem. "The Seven Mysteries of Death City."
"Mystery 1:
On the 11th floor of the Casualty Communal building in apartment E, lives a mysterious hermit. It is said that he has lived for thousands of years without once setting foot out of his apartment. However, if you knock on his door at midnight, sometimes he will open the door and if you leave behind a box of pencil shavings as an offering it will bring good luck. But make sure you are gone before he opens the door and that he doesn't spot you otherwise you will become cursed. The only known way to break the curse of the mysterious hermit is to leave an even bigger box of pencil shavings in front of his door. The bigger the box, the better. And don't forget to fill it to the brim with pencil shavings!"
How mysterious! I wonder who this hermit is? He can't have much of a life if he's hiding out in his apartment all the time. Maybe he's just some sullen loser who punches people for no good reason and likes cross-dressing. [No, he's not bitter. Not at all.
Moving on!]
"Mystery 2:
A million years ago, a man summoned a demon sacrificing one of his arms in the process. The demon took the form of an ugly hat and when the man put it on his head, it latched onto him and hasn't let go since that day. The hat continues to sustain him to this day, but should anyone take the hat off, the man will crumble into dust and disappear into the wind. Be warned, though, to take the hat off is to court misfortune, for the very ugly hat demon made the man his slave when he put it on. If you take off his hat, it will latch onto your head and make you its new slave!"
Mystery 3:
Long before Death City was built, this place was home to a giant castle. Inside this magnificent castle was a garden more beautiful than any other. It was here that two star-crossed lovers torn apart by cruel fate met at night. The garden where they met used to exist where the park is in the present. Some say that you can still see their ghosts at night, meeting in the same place they used to long ago. However, if you spot them while walking with your girlfriend or boyfriend or spouse, they will attack you in a fit of jealousy. Throwing rice at them before they notice you is the only way to protect yourself.
Mystery 4:
A long, long time ago, a boy with white hair angered a wizard, who put a curse on him that split him into two people. Now he wanders the world in search of the missing half of himself. Be wary when you run into either of them, because they will try to trick you into giving them half of your soul! It is said, because the wizard who placed the curse on them had pale eyes the same shade of green as peas, that throwing peas at these spectres will send them running. Frozen or fresh peas works but the throwing of unopened cans is only effective half the time.
Mystery 5:
In the Outer Residential area, there is a photo gallery on the third floor of building B. There are a number of frames in there, but one of them is special. When the sun sets after the place closes, one of the frames will display the photo of a young girl wearing a lace dress. Not matter what picture had been hanging there previously, it will be replaced with this one until morning. If someone who's death is near walks in front of it, the girl's mouth will turn up into a smile...just for them.
Mystery 6:
In this city there are two blind individuals, one who is a little girl and another who is a young man. They are recognizable by their milk white eyes that have no pupils. It is said that they will appear before those who have wronged others and pass on their judgement. There is no use in trying to run because blind though they are, theirs are eyes that can see all. All you can do is throw yourself at their feet and beg for mercy.
Mystery 7:
They say that there are three individuals who will grant a single wish of anyone who gives them an offering of fruit. These three have lived for many years though a special power keeps them looking young. If you throw a specific piece of fruit at their hair, and if it sticks to it then that means your offering has been accepted. In order to receive their blessing, all three must accept your blessings because only their collective powers they grant your wish. The fruit that is preferred by the one with the golden bangs and red spiky hair is the starfruit. The fruit preferred by the one with bleached hair and a scar above his eye is the tomato. And, last but not least, the fruit to offer to the one with the impossibly spiky hair are bell-peppers. Will you dare to try your luck against these three ancient beings?"
I wonder how many of these are true? It would be interesting to try to find everything on this list, wouldn't it?
Oh, and we're doing a promotion at World's End this week. For every two drinks you buy, you get a third one for free. It's not as interesting as these mysteries, but if you want to, drop by some time.
((OOC: In order, the mysteries are talking about: Shirogane, Quilby, Lily+Lezard, Bakura+Yami Bakura, Fatal Frames, Hanabi+Neji, and Cloud+Takuto+Kanji. Hyoubu's put up multiple copies of this flier throughout the city. Maybe someone even spotted a suspicious silver-haired teen in a Japanese middle-school boy's uniform walking around with a small pile of fliers. :3))

We're not blind.. Who came up with this?
[voice]
I wouldn't know about that.
[ permanent voice ]
Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I just found this flier. [In his pocket.]
Whoever it was had an interesting information source.

I have my suspicions. At any rate, there aren't many that should put much stock behind these rumors..
no subject
So is there any part of that that was true?
