[From the looks of it, Loki is at the top of Shibusen's stairs. He's sitting cross-legged on the ground in front of the propped-up mirror, and there is an empty DeathRobbins cup sitting next to him at the edge of the shot.

The Madness wavelength really shook him. He's spent most of today thinking about Things, totally blowing off his job to wander around the park and climb up to the top of the city. Loki is visibly subdued, far from his usual chipper self. Although the ice cream did help a little. He'd heard it might.]

People of Death City...will you tell me of your families?

[A-ha. But Loki is playing nice right now, and also has no idea how bad Dark Bakura is, so he's just going to note that for later. He would actually feel a little bad about bringing up what looks like a bad memory if he hadn't been needled at just now for pining.]

I take it you're not here to talk about it, then?

[He scoffs, his voice turning hard and mocking again.]

Why should I? So that people can take the truth and call it lies again? Landlord told you about his parents, be satisfied with that.

[Loki is torn between wanting to get Dark Bakura to tell him what really happened -- and striking back at the mockery. He can't resist. He just can't.]

How horrible, to bare one's soul and be met with nothing but skepticism. I can't imagine why anyone would doubt you. You didn't give them reason to, did you?

[He is all soft-spoken, wide-eyed concern.]

[There is a short flash of anger in his eyes - Bakura is many things, but he is a man with enough pride to make his word worth something. True, he fought with no holds barred, but he wouldn't lie about that.

His voice is low and very controlled when he speaks. This has just become more than a mere mocking game.]

They already decided to hang me before I had a bad name, back then just as much as now. You already decided to buy the landlord's story as the full and only truth as well, didn't you? When it doesn't matter what I say or what I do I may as well resent you for the role that you push onto me.

[Oooh, interesting. This has self-fulfilling prophecy written all over it. Loki can make a few guesses about what happened based on these words and the resentment behind them.]

I see. You were punished for a crime you did not commit, weren't you? If I'm not mistaken, that prompted your descent into troublemaking -- for you felt that if you were to be persecuted anyway, you might as well benefit from the crime.

And now that I suspect you -- of crimes that you have committed -- you are only behaving in the way I unfairly expect. That way, it is easy to justify your continuing crimes to yourself. Is it not, thief?

A pity. I would listen to your story, if you wished to tell it. I only believe your "landlord" over you because he has earned my trust, and I'm afraid you've yet to.

[There is a moment of silent staring as Bakura fights hard not to laugh or be too obviously amused. He'd gotten it all wrong, all wrong, and yet twisted it into something that would, basically, make a lot of sense. But there's a challenge in those words and so he decides to twist the proverbial knife.]

What, is me giving you my only knife for free not enough? What I did back then was literally ages ago and has nothing to do with what I do here and now, nor with my host, no matter what he might think. To be entirely honest, I don't even know of all the things that he might be accusing me for.

[Although he thinks that he can guess a couple of them.]

[Hm, that pause is troubling. Had Loki missed the mark? But what else could be extrapolated from this Ghost Bakura's words?

No matter, the subject has changed. Loki tries not to look too surprised that the knife was not Host Bakura's. Oh, dear. He'd promised this one knife lessons, hadn't he? Well, Loki would not forget his words. Only time would tell if he would keep them, though.]

If you wished to know what he's said about you, all you had to do was ask. I keep no secrets.

There have been thefts at his apartment. He is convinced that you are behind it.

[Loki's manner is hard to read as he says that last sentence. Murder is not a thing he is cool with, but he is playing a game of words here, so it's said casually and with noting but curiosity. He can't afford to let his personal distaste for killing serve as leverage for this Other Bakura.]

[Not keeping secrets is not the same as not telling lies. He doesn't trust anybody.]

A murderer? [He echoes before bursting into laughter.]

I won't deny that I tend to use his things in order to keep his body up to snuff, but who pray tell am I supposed to have killed? I hope he told you some names because I can't think of anybody! [That isn't to say whether he actually did it or not.]
