[Aqua was sitting by a window, with her knees draw up and the communicator balanced on top. She leaned back against the wall, posture relaxed.]

I've been wondering, does anyone come from a world with magic? If so, would you mind telling me a little about it?

[She reaches out a hand to steady the communicator when it slides a little to the left before righting it again.]

I specialized in magic back home, so I'm curious about what kinds of magic exists in other worlds.

I found a copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales in the library. [She smiled.] I really enjoyed it; thank you for recommending it to me.

...how does a game destroy a whole world?

With meteors, apparently.

I see. Do you know how that happened?

[She nodded.] That sounds similar to the magic I used. Were the attacks for attacking focused on elemental magic, or was there something else?

Time and space? Those spells are considered elemental? For us, that was a far higher caliber of magic than that which controlled fire, stone, or water.

They tried to destroy anyone who used it and after, they forgot it. Humans do that a lot.

They could be, but there was non-elemental magic too. There were attacks that could drain the opponent's energy, for example.

Within my world, only those of elven descent are naturally capable of wielding magic, although there exists a means by which humans can be permitted to use it. The magic itself is primarily elemental magic along with various healing, offensive, and defensive spells. [A very basic but decent description of it.]

It does seem that way, doesn't it? [He smiles at that.]

Mmmhm! You wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between a human and a demon there. [Well, except for hair colours and the fact that most of the demons throughout Shin Makoku were considered beautiful.] They look just like everyone else.

[He sometimes forgets to mention to others that he's half demon...]

Well, everyone is different. I guess your friend is more earthy than you.

...is it weird not having magic here? Sorry if I'm pestering you but everyone else here was something else at home, I... was just normal.

Are these formulas like incantations then? Or does it not work the same way?

Not in who can learn it, but certain elements have their own limitations. Fire and ice based spells can only target one enemy except in the really advanced spells while lightning and wind based spells can attack multiple enemies but is limited in range. And sometimes people won't be compatible with certain elements.

I see. That's a little different, since I we mostly just draw energy from within ourselves.

I see. Can more than one person hold a pact with a spirit at the same time?

What's "chakra"?

It's very useful.

[She let out a thoughtful hum.]

I think casting charms would suit you really well.

[Elves, huh?] Someone else mentioned that only those with elven blood could use magic. I wonder if he's also from your world...

[Though that last part surprised her.] you're going to become an angel?

I see. Is it an energy that comes from within you like it is here? Or is it something that comes from outside?

Oh, really? Who was it? There are a few others from home. Lloyd, Mithos, Kratos and Emil, I mean.

Well, yes. I don't have my wings here, but along the way with my Journey I was given more Angel powers.

Most of it was elemental based magic, usually fire, ice, wind or lightning based. I also knew some basic healing spells, and ones that affected time and space.

So you could adjust your strengths and weaknesses as you needed in a battle. That's really impressive.

And your element was light.

[This is all really fascinating.]

Does that mean you draw your power from your element? Or do you have your own reserve of power?

Chakra is energy, life force. Ninja can manipulate it in various ways, use it for attacks and defense and even fun.

It's not luck. It's the path I've chosen and the one I plan to stick to for as long as I live.

[The talk about atoms was a little confusing, but she managed to follow along well enough.]

So you can't get something out of nothing with alchemy, right? That's different from the magic I'm used to. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of anything quite like this. [It's all really interesting!]

Did you know how to use alchemy, Hughes?

Yeah. Everything you did with alchemy had to keep a balance of some sort. You couldn't make something out of nothing, though it was possible to destroy things entirely since destruction basically involved separating all the atoms from each other.

Er...well, I knew the basics, but it wasn't really my thing. I didn't mind the science aspect of it, but I never really got the hang of manipulating stuff like that. Roy and Ed could do it though. They were military certified alchemists.

How heroic. I wonder if those you sacrifice for that righteousness of yours are going to see it the same way.

Hrm... so, for example, some people aren't compatible with using lightning magic? Each of our spells have their own limitations as well. Basic spells, such as Lighting or Stone Edge, can only attack one enemy. However, when you learn the more advanced spells, like Indignation and Ground Dasher, you can more enemies at once with more damage.

Hm? Is it all right if I asked how that works?

[ Mithos shakes his head at this question. ] Once a Spirit has a pact with one person it cannot form a pact with another. So as long as the Summoner is alive or doesn't break their pacts no other can make a pact with the Spirits.
