[ Lenalee has kept herself as polished as the mirror she's now drumming neat nails on, but the spit and shine doesn't quite hide the tired shadows in her eyes or the imprints of teeth on her lip. ]

Don't paint me ungrateful for this, but I don't care for this place's wars.

[ she had meant for the message to be bait (if Kanda is here then it's perfectly feasible that this BREW thing had russled up the rest of them - they are warriors after all) but she's lost so many things already that it can't hurt to lose her train of thought as well ]

The fresh linen and the food and the promises don't balance out blood loss, and the storm gets in my eyes and makes me tired. It's all at the wrong time, though I can't think of a right time, and I. I have people. [ her eyes crease, flicker and the feed ends ]

Try not to jinx it. (he looks her over quickly.) You okay?

I'm breathing. [ awkward choice of words, she realises, and moves towards the door with all the feigned confidence of someone who doesn't know where they're going ] The people down there were whispering about somewhere called Casualty Communal.

[ioudas]

(he knows that's really not a reply. cross ruffles her hair the way an overprotective uncle would, but it's supposed to be comforting.) You'll be staying with my partner and I.

[ Lenalee had skulked out of the speeches about weapons and meisters and souls, and thus the prospect of staying with Cross and his partner really does not appeal to her ] Oh.

[ioudas]

(they weren't like the rest of them; cross didn't consume souls, wanting to become stronger through his own merit, not the merit of his enemies.)

[ her toe drags in the ground and she stops. ]

(he just crosses his arms and stares down at her.)
