1 Spell. Video. March 2nd, around noon
[Anders looks tired as he looks at the mirror. He's a little off-center; he still isn't quite certain on using this thing.]
I could use some help, if anyone would care to explain what some of the things in my accommodations are for. There's one that makes a noise and is cold inside, another has a knob with several numbers on it? I don't know what the box with numbers is either, or why it's pink. I don't particularly mind pink. It's just that it reminds me of the way one of my greeters blushed at nearly everything I said. Kanji.
[He smiles faintly at that. Teasing helps distract, and he needs distractions.]
I'd also like to know why we wind up without our abilities. It seems extremely discriminatory to strip people of who they are, and it's traumatizing as well. I understand that I'm a Meister, but there's no comparison. It's...
[He leans back, putting his hand on the kitchen sink handle and turning it on by accident. Unfortunately, the previous resident left a rubber band around the hose nozzle, and Anders winds up sprayed by a sudden gush of water.]
Maker's breath!
[It's clearly a curse, and he shuts the Forge off before trying to figure out how to stop the water.]

BULLSHIT! The hell're you talkin' about!?

See for yourself. [Anders holds up the mirror. At first it's the wrong way, showing a rather ordinary couch, then he catches himself and turns it around. Sure enough, the microwave is pink, as is the stove, and the dishwasher Anders hasn't even considered looking in yet.]

First is the refrigerator, which, as the name implies, keeps things cool. You can think of it as an icebox. [He's not sure how big the "box" is...the fridge is technically a box too.] I'm not sure what the knob and numbers one is. That's either your stove or your microwave. Both heat things. The stove is big and heats with fire and usually includes an oven [....you do come from a world that eats bread and uses some sort of oven, he hopes], and the microwave is about the size of a [uh...something universal]...something smaller and heats with...well, just think of it as magic. Safety warning for the microwave: do not to put anything metal in it. It will do a light-show you won't enjoy.
And ah...that water thing is the sink. You'll probably learn to enjoy indoor plumbing.
Video
[The amusement is gone at the mention of magic.] I know magic. I do magic. This isn't magic. This is noises and another strange light. I won't put metal in it, though. I try to take some advice.
But a sink... What does it sink? I'm glad I at least don't have to pump water.
Video
With the oven, you turn the knobs to the desired heat setting. When it's reached that temperature, the pre-heat will turn off and you can put your dough in. Most recipes will give you the heat-settings you should use.
[Kakashi nods. A magic user, hm? He won't remind you that you don't do magic anymore, Anders.] This is technology, which for some unfamiliar with it, is like magic. If you really want to know how it works, I'm sure there's a book somewhere.
And a sink doesn't sink anything. It's a basin for your water.

[She was having a hard enough time with how outdated some of the technology was, but she could still recognize it well enough if she could see it. If nothing else, she could at least compare it to what was in her own apartment.]
[Anders turns the mirror to show the other things, the oven and the microwave, in that order.]
Knob with numbers on it, box with numbers.
[Aha. Seeing the other things really helped.
... wow. Those were rather pink. Samus represses a small giggle.]
Those are the oven and the microwave. Both are used for cooking food. The microwave is usually faster, but the oven cooks more evenly. Once you get used to them, they're pretty easy to use. I don't know why they're pink, though; mine aren't.
[Samus moves the communicator around to show her kitchen; sure enough, all of her appliances are a standard-looking white color.]

As convenient as that is man, I don't recommend usin' that for a shower.

I wasn't planning on confusing this with a rainshower. After all, I'm hardly outside.

If you show me the things you're still confused on, I can tell you what they are. I got you a book that might help too, but this should be faster.

[He looks around, still dripping, trying to see what hadn't been explained. Anders spots the dishwaser.]
This.
[He points the mirror at it.]
It... likely opens.
[He reaches down to take the handle with some trepidation, pulling it open and looking.]
It looks like some sort of... metal ribs.

[ Lau looks thoughtful for a moment, looking around his own place with a curious expression. ]
If you need guidance with the modern fixings of the place, I would be willing to offer my assistance. I have arrived quite recently myself, but I have managed to figure out the complexities of it all.
Video
[He nods.]
I would appreciate it. Especially... I was told that the oven is what the thing with knobs is, but it has five knobs and one opening.

I suppose they don't have these sort of things in your world either?
I take that back. They have chairs, and tables, and I'm so very glad to have a bed, because I've never been much of a fan of cots, but the rest...
[He waves his hand as if summing it all up.]
How does anyone live with having to work all of this?

He will only give a rather amiable response for the time being, seeing as you do not have this sort of technology back home either.]
It is rather disconcerting when one is taken from one's home and throw into the chaos that is this world, is it not?
Pray do not worry about it all, for you could learn about them in time. As others have been saying, those are indeed, and in order: a refrigerator, a stove with oven, and a microwave. Oh, and the wash basin, or as it is commonly referred to as "the sink."
[He hums in thought for a moment, his wings fluttering slightly.]
However, the explanation for these things are simple enough. Refrigerators keep food cool for storage, the stove is to cook while the oven is to bake, the microwave can reheat food if one desires to do so, and the wash basin is... self explanatory, I should think.
Only, I can advise that you should find a towel with which to dry yourself, and if you can, find a change of clothing. It would not do for you to get sick when you have just arrived, sir.

What, you know all of these things?

I think there are better ways of getting clean, Anders. Oh, or did your clothes need to be washed?
[Because yes, that's totally what he was trying to do.]
[ video ]
My clothes will need to be washed, but I was trying to speak on the state of affairs. We've been stripped of who we are, Merrill.
