[returning to text for this -- trolls seem to prefer it anyway, and he can't be sure about the other one just yet.]

I intend on participating in the coming mission, alone if I must. Before that, however, there are some people I would like to have a word with.

A little more than a year. What of you? Your vessel is young.

[ oh, universal mechanics, how you differed so. ]

[blinking. no wonder you seem so stiff.]

Fifteen years. Was that form created as an adult from the start?

[rebellious]

[ a blink of his own, and he tilts his head in that odd, bird-like manner of his. ]

It's a vessel. For an angel to walk the earth and carry out the duties we must, we take vessels; the bodies of humans who give theirs to us at their own consent. Mortal eyes cannot bear our true forms otherwise.

[diedforyoursins]

That body is not your own? [even with consent that's a little...huh.]

[rebellious]

No. Yours is. [ another question phrased as a statement. he's fairly good at those. ]

[diedforyoursins]

Yes. I was born into this body and grew with it. The same is true for my...ah, other. [other person like him. what else could he call rei?] There are replacements available in case the original body is damaged beyond repair, but those are just empty shells.

[rebellious]

[ strange... ]

There have been occasions when an angel's spirit has grown with the body, but those, two, are rare.

[ he knows it now, but isn't likely to admit to how terribly wasteful the vessel business can be. ]

I have never heard of an Angel possessing an occupied body before. [an evangelion, maybe, but never a human.] And there are only two instances where any of us used a human form at all, mine being one of them.

[rebellious]

We have never had reason to, since the advent of the modern world.

[ a pause. ]

His name [ was is always has been ] is Jimmy Novac.

...Is he conscious?

[rebellious]

[ another pause. this is something he hasn't told anyone, not even Dean. yet somehow, it feels almost right to tell this boy, this youth who calls himself an angel. if anyone could comprehend, wouldn't he? ]

I haven't felt his presence since my arrival here.

[diedforyoursins]

[he understands more than you know.]

Do you prefer it that way?

[rebellious]

If in a sense of control, no. There's never been conflict of that nature.

[ it's one of those things he's not certain how to put into words, and not certain if he wants to try. ]

I... no. I do not.

[he's quiet for a long few moments, contemplating that and debating silently what he could say of himself. it was nice to know that at least castiel's situation was a peaceful one, but he couldn't really decide if he envied it.]

...I am the vessel for the soul of our progenitor, Adam. In my world, that is. If yours is closer to what the Bible describes then I doubt the situation is at all the same there. My will is my own, but my soul is not.

Since coming here, I have not been able to feel Adam's presence. [which he might have said was a good thing, but the whole third impact thing isn't even a threat here, so why should that make him feel so relieved?]

Are you glad for this? To be freed from your duty as a vessel? [ what an odd question, but his stare is one intense and intent. ]

What others are there like you? In human form?

I...believe so. [not so much the duty as the identity, though. this place focused a great deal on souls. maybe he was just afraid to let anyone touch his when he didn't even know if it would feel like his own or another's. he had been far too eager to put off any resonation until after the mission, after all../]

As I said, there was only one other like me in my world. I was the vessel of Adam, and a girl named Rei carries Lilith.
