[under the blaring sound of the alert siren, rosalia's voice comes through a bit frantically, followed by one much less familiar to the network.]

N-No! No emergency! Jack's new! I'm really sorry about this!

A very bored and not so nice god, some would say.

Or just trouble. [It's technically no lie because most people who had the bad luck of getting to know him better tended to think of his as trouble incarnate.] How about giving a name for a name?

A god, huh? [well, the guy's certainly got an ego to rival pitch.] I'm Jack Frost. What about you?

[His smile widens a bit, turning secretive and haughty as if he had just heard the punchline of an inside joke.] How wondrous that I would meet one with such a name at this time and place. Do you think that you really are what you claim by introducing yourself as that?

[his grin slips at that, eyes narrowing suspiciously.]

What's that supposed to mean? Who else would I be?

A fool decorating himself with the name of a dream, maybe? I cannot hear your thoughts here, so it is not as easy to tell of what might be going on in your head.

[wow, if that's not disconcerting.]

N-no one's dreaming! I know who I am! Jeeze, what's your problem?

[Being disconcerting and giving people headaches by making them try and figure out what he just meant are things that Hades does best.]

Not much, besides being bored and stuck in this tiresome world and body. [He inclines his head to the side and one of his furry goat-like ears flicks.] Concerning this conversation, though, I was merely seeing whether I was talking to the real thing or to yet another fool who thinks that he can gain something by decorating himself with the name of a fairy tale.

[His expression turns bemused.] Has that never happened in your world before?

I'm not a fairy tale!

[yeah, someone's still a bit defensive. he's still not used to being believed in, after all, and going back to being just a fairy tale, well...]

Look, I don't care how bored you are or whatever, I'm not here for your entertainment, so back off.

[If he wanted him to go away then he just messed up on that. Hades' smile widens ever so slightly - like all gods of his kinds he enjoys getting a rise out of others.]

Does it bother you? People have stopped believing in me centuries ago but I cannot say that I have experienced it as a bad thing.

[well, if you were trying to irritate him then that just backfired on you. he opens his mouth like he's about to snap right back but then he just stops, then anger almost visibly draining out of him.]

...Centuries? [he wilts just at the word, and his expression is almost...pitying?]

About two-thousand years and a decade or two, more precisely. [He looks thoughtful for a moment but then just shrugs.]

I am not entirely sure - I rarely pay attention to what they choose to believe.

You have a strange sense of priorities, Jack Frost. Humans are born and die all the time. Why would you want to care about what they think if they are as passing as bugs?

They're not bugs, they're important, and... Look, we only exist because of then, we exist for them, why wouldn't we want them to see us?

[He sounds increasingly amused. Beings that would have to rely on something as fickle as the human faith seem ridiculous to him. Ridiculous, but also quite interesting.]

Well, there aren't all these aliens and robots and gods and stuff back home, just...

[humans, and other spirits, and he's never met a spirit younger than himself.]

What about animals? Or plants? Do you not consider them alive as well? Or do they not exist in the place that you come from?

[Despite his questions the tone of his voice remains passive and pleasant.]

Of course they exist, but they're not kids. We protect wonder and hopes and dreams in children -- I don't really know how we'd do that for plants and animals.

Hmph. I hardly think that only humans are capable of hoping even though I am not the right one to speak about such sentiments.

[He thinks for a moment, torn between ending their conversation here and saying some more just because he has nothing better to do ~~and Jack already showed that he can be provoked~~.]

So you care about humans?

Yeah. Got a problem with that?
