[This evening finds Cupid on her couch again, a box settling into view in the corner of the feed while she makes herself comfortable.]

Wow, okay so- shopping for other people? Totally exhausting.

[As she speaks, she opens up the pastry box in front of her and withdraws a ridiculously decadent-looking cupcake, leaning back on her sofa and crossing her legs primly.]

Feels excellent helping them bring their wardrobe up to speed from whatever the last fashion era they got stuck in was, though.

[Not to mention she gets to dress people up all day. Score!]

But I've been thinking- since I got here, really- that helping people out with their issues might be why I'm here. Soooo...

What would everyone think of a little matchmaking? For people looking for Partners as well as people looking for romance- since really, they're both about compatibility to one degree or another. I'd have to make up some forms and stuff, of course, but I figured I should throw it out there, and see what everyone thinks...!

On top of that- would anyone be interested in an advice broadcast? I figure it'd be possible to broadcast over the network maybe once a week- folks can mail in questions for me to answer on-air, or just call in and ask live! What do you say? Good ideas or no?

[Though really, she'll probably wind up doing them regardless. She sits up a little straighter after a moment's pause though, and leans forward.]

--oh, and before I forget... [She reaches into the box again and pulls out another cupcake.] Got something for you Jack!

Well, it's not even just that- a lot of them just out-and-out try and tell me they don't think love exists. It's a little depressing.

[She's looking at you, Near and Mello.]

But I'm sure you're right...! I just have to hope they'll be willing to write questions in.

I'm sure they will.

[But then he frowns slightly.]

Though, I can't believe someone would tell you that love doesn't exist.

In my opinion, people who think love doesn't exist must be scared to fall in love...

And that is a little sad.

They're really pretty dead set against it. It's not even that they don't believe it exists, they just qualify it all in scientific terms and think it's completely useless. They might as well just not believe in it at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were afraid, really.

[He crosses his arms and thinks.]

...I feel really sorry for them, to think that way. They must be really lonely, don't you think?

They probably are- but they sounded like the kind of people who like to act like they don't mind being alone. Even when it's pretty much the exact opposite of what they want, if you ask me.

[Ah.. that reminds him of his little brother. A person who acts like he doesn't need friends, but friends is really what he needs the most.]

They're acting tough, but they're probably hurting inside. I'm guessing something traumatic happened to them early on in their life, which had them turn cold like this.

It wouldn't surprise me- I mean, people like that usually have a lot of underlying issues that need to be addressed before they can be expected to even make an attempt at a functional relationship... but geez, I don't think even I have the qualifications for the kind of counseling they need.

I wish I could call home. My mom would be so much help.

[He smiles again, softly.]

Well since you can't get in touch with your mother, you'll just have to do your best in place of her.

Yeah... I guess I will.
