♡ Call 002 [video, April 28, evening]

[This evening finds Cupid on her couch again, a box settling into view in the corner of the feed while she makes herself comfortable.]

Wow, okay so- shopping for other people? Totally exhausting.

[As she speaks, she opens up the pastry box in front of her and withdraws a ridiculously decadent-looking cupcake, leaning back on her sofa and crossing her legs primly.]

Feels excellent helping them bring their wardrobe up to speed from whatever the last fashion era they got stuck in was, though.

[Not to mention she gets to dress people up all day. Score!]

But I've been thinking- since I got here, really- that helping people out with their issues might be why I'm here. Soooo...

What would everyone think of a little matchmaking? For people looking for Partners as well as people looking for romance- since really, they're both about compatibility to one degree or another. I'd have to make up some forms and stuff, of course, but I figured I should throw it out there, and see what everyone thinks...!

On top of that- would anyone be interested in an advice broadcast? I figure it'd be possible to broadcast over the network maybe once a week- folks can mail in questions for me to answer on-air, or just call in and ask live! What do you say? Good ideas or no?

[Though really, she'll probably wind up doing them regardless. She sits up a little straighter after a moment's pause though, and leans forward.]

--oh, and before I forget... [She reaches into the box again and pulls out another cupcake.] Got something for you Jack!

Mhm. Or, well, it's not just for vegetarians. You can do a lot more with it than a lot of people think.

Really? I just always figured it was a vegetarian thing- but then again I'm kind of a major carnivore most of the time myself, so...

Hmm...or maybe it's a cultural thing. Anyway, not like it matters.

[She gives a mildly amused laugh then]

Listen to me going on about tofu. I'm starting to sound like my grandmother.

Maybe...!

[Cupid laughs.]

Hey, at least it sounds like you know your stuff!

Well, I did spend a lot of the past year helping out at the store. And she does talk a lot about tofu. Guess some of it had to rub off eventually.

Oh, definitely. You have no idea how much I learned when I was younger just from listening to my parents talk. It's really one of the best ways to pick things up.

Yeah, you're right. Though I think sometimes you don't realise how much you've picked up until you stop to think about it.

That's really true too. But then that's probably for the best- honestly, I think that's how most kids learn things- especially when they don't actually want to.

Guess you've got a point. I know I find it easier to learn when it doesn't feel like I'm learning.

Exactly! But what else do you know all about besides tofu?

["Shadows" is the first answer that comes to mind, but that's not really the kind of answer for a first conversation.]

Well...I'm not sure I'd say I know all about it but I was an idol back home...an idol on hiatus but I was going to go back to it.

[Her immediate thought is something like 'American Idol', which isn't far off, but...]

An idol? Like... what kind of idol?

Um, like...I sing and dance and sometimes I do ad-work or a little acting here and there...pretty much wherever I'm needed.

Oh! So you're kind of like... a catch-all celebrity, huh? Wow, we don't have anything like that back home- you must be really talented!

Something like that, yeah. And, well, I had to have something about me to win that contest I guess, considering it wasn't even my idea.

Wow, really? Definitely talented then! Do you like it? Being an idol, I mean?

I love it. I mean, for a while I kinda fell out of love with it and thought about quitting. But in the end, I decided I wanted to go back to it. At least, before I ended up here.

Oh, I think everyone hits that point eventually, no matter how much they love what they do. You just kind of hit a wall and you wonder what you were even thinking...

But sounds like you found a way to get over it, so being an idol must be something you're really suited for. Shame about this place though...

Well, it was a little more complicated than that. But it all worked out in the end.

Well, except for here. But I guess there's not so much we can do about it for now except play along.

[Cupid nods and waves a hand.]

Don't worry, I'm not nosy- and honestly, I don't really mind this place so much. It's... quirky.

Yeah.

[And she's glad Cupid isn't prying - not that she's not guilty of it herself at times, but some topics weren't first-conversation material.]

Quirky is...definitely a word for it.

[Cupid can't help but giggle a little.]

Well, you gotta understand- the Halloween thing has been messing with monsters for years. A place like this? It's a total kick.

Wait, monsters? So...you're used to places like this?

Well... yes and no? When I say 'monsters' I'm usually talking about my schoolmates and our whole society, not the kind of monsters they have in this world...

Why would you call yourselves monsters if you're...well, not?
