[kaworu seems happy today -- more so than normal, and a great distance from his melancholy the last time he'd posted to the network.]

What sort of sweets does everyone here like? Or types of cookies? I have a friend who is teaching me how to cook, but I do not have much experience with what others enjoy most...

[he mostly wants yako and mello's answers, but being that specific would ruin the surprise so it's simpler to leave things vague for now.]

[his tone and expression soften and he gives the little mirror a gentle smile, somehow different from the sort he shows everyone else. as much as he loved all his friends here, he hadn't really considered the difference until he could once more see shinji.]

[at least you both had school lives. he can't really hop in here as he has been, having no related experiences, so for the moment he remains silent, seemingly very distracted by what tea remains in his cup.]

[Despite Shinji's apparent hesitancy, Takuto is surprised the other boy isn't a high school student like himself. Or at least in his third year of middle school.

And almost against his will he's totally aware of Kaworu's interest in the tea--Takuto'd done the same thing only minutes ago. Which was why he is out of tea.]

It's kind of weird at first that school is optional here, but I think I like it. I mean, I miss going to school, but I there are a lot of things to do that are more important than listening to teachers. [He takes a deep breath and shrugs.] I'm not sure if there'd really be enough time in the day for me to go to school, go to work, go to club meetings, and fight in the war. I don't sleep right as it is.

[While the idea of actually attending a school that wasn't basically just a front for keeping potential pilot candidates handy was actually a little appealing, he's a little more inclined to follow the other topic presented.]

That's quite a busy schedule. [He probably honestly wouldn't have thought that there was quite so much to do here.]

[oh hey he can actually contribute to this line of conversation.]

Speaking of, drama club has not met in a while.

[Takuto frowns over at Kaworu, trying his best to avoid remembering that fateful day at rehearsal when he'd shown Kaworu how to kiss.]

Y-you've been practicing your lines, though, right? There kind of wasn't that much to do when everyone was just trying to memorize lines, and I think Ryou was able to get a lot more of the set done when we all weren't trying to use it at the same time.

B-but you're right--we should have another meeting soon.

Ah, I didn't know you were going to be in a play. [He turns to Kaworu, a slight note of surprise in his voice.]

[that gets him smiling again.]

Mm. Takuto put the group together, and it sounded fun. Would you like to come to the final performance, whenever that ends up being?

[come on, you totally want to see him being a bad guy and smooching a fish girl.]

[Even Takuto feels better at this subject. Starfish Apocalypse is something he shares with Kaworu that Shinji doesn't. He's also much more pleased than maybe he should be that Kaworu didn't actually invite Shinji to join the club, even though they were still kind of short on members.]

I think it's fair to aim for the end of May or the beginning of June for the show. [To give them both an idea on when the final performance was likely to be.]

[The fact that Kaworu seemed to cheer up at this line of conversation was pretty comforting.]

I wouldn't mind coming to it. [He seems to perk up a little at the idea himself.]

[he's not so clueless as to offer a spot in a play when everything's already been cast. besides, shinji putting himself on a stage as the center of attention? hahaha.

although...]

What are we doing for background music?

[The question stops Takuto. He really hasn't been able to put much thought into how their music is going to work. He knew that sound effects and the like were going to be minimal--they just didn't have that kind of budget.]

I'm... not really sure yet. I had this idea that we could get Ryou to help with sound effects since he won't actually be on stage, but I don't really know what to do about music yet.

[Shinji, feeling like he wouldn't have much to contribute to the particular subject at hand, remains quiet, allowing the two of them a moment to talk between themselves. Maybe he can take this opportunity to finish off his tea.]

[hahaha like he's letting you get out of being part of this conversation.]

Shinji is an accomplished musician. Perhaps he could play for us? I imagine it would require more than just a cello, but there might be others in the city who can play something that would be willing to help, and I can play as well anytime I am not needed on stage.

[Takuto looked at Shinji, trying to hide his mixed feelings about the idea. Certainly it' be nice to have music from an accomplished musician, and cellos were lovely, but... it was beginning to feel like Shinji was invading every aspect of his life.

He glanced quickly back to Kaworu.]

I imagine it'll be hard for you to play since you're one of the main characters, but... [He shrugged at Shinji.] If you're willing to do it, well, we do need music.

[If it were up to Shinji he'd probably just keep to himself as much as possible. Which is why, when Kaworu volunteered him to do some of the music, he couldn't help but give his friend a half-uneasy, half-embarrassed sort of look.]

I told you I'm not that good. ['Accomplished' felt like it was an overstatement, even if it was probably mostly accurate. He turned back to Takuto before continuing.] I guess I'd be able to help if you need it, though.

Oh? Your personal file said otherwise. And I have never known those old men to exaggerate praise. And you were picking up the piano fairly quickly as well.

[his teasing little smirk there might distract from how creepy that could possibly sound. but to be fair, he had good reason to be reading your file. espionage and all that.]

[Takuto raises an eyebrow at the comment. He's not sure if Kaworu is just being silly or if... or if there is some kind of personal file all about Shinji that he's read. And what old men is he referring to, anyway? Even though they had just been talking about drama club, Takuto is suddenly feeling distinctly out of the loop.

Not that he wants to be in the middle of Kaworu flirting with Shinji, though. He looks down at his empty cup.]

I think I'll make some more tea, if you don't mind.

[You're not the only one feeling a little lost, Takuto. The personal file didn't strike him as particularly odd, but the 'old men' were a bit of a mystery. The... people who had sent Kaworu, probably? Wow, okay, what an unpleasant thought.]

Oh, let me do that. You are a guest, after all.

[and taking your cup just to leave no room for argument.]
