[Well, being almost!human sucked. Joshua, unfortunately, after a day of exploring the city ~~and discovering many fun shops!~~ is currently rediscovering what it means to be tired. What can he say. The battery life of an average human being is pathetic at best. 12 hours? 16? 18? Awful. The sun's going down, and the stars are out. He's currently walking to the apartment he's been allotted, but physical exercise is boring. Very boring. So! A transmission as he walks, mainly to kill some time.]

So~ While the little welcome get-together was indeed quite charming, I have a small question. I want to help with this little war that's going on. The faster it's over, the sooner I get back to doing what's important to me. If I can be some help in that it's better for everyone, right? Anyway, What's the best way to do that? Is it a case of simply walking to the Shibusen, banging on the door and signing some liability waivers or...?

[He's inside the apartment complex now, fiddling with a set of keys as soon as he clears the first hallway. A swing of a door later and...]

I'm not any sort of expert. Just a little experienced.

And there is training. Though the grounds are closed at the moment, because of everything. Every morning when they're open, there's a lot of different people teaching everyone different things. It's pretty helpful.

As for finding a partner... [[a small hesitation there. Because he hasn't had much luck there.]] You have to find someone you can work with, since Weapons and Meisters have to be compatible or else it's just no good.

There's been a huge mess with people lashing out against all of us because the war's still going on... There's been vandalism and attacks and a few people even have been kidnapped during the riots... it's really worrying...

[Ah, yes. He's already observed that the city isn't just populated with people that don't belong here...]

Understandable. They can't be blamed for getting impatient. People worry, people talk. Conspiracy theories are rife in most societies, let alone one under such duress. In fact, it's a decent war tactic. A talented enemy spreads tales of such in an enemy camp to weaken it from within~

Tell me, how long as this war been going on?

I'm not sure... it's from before any of us arrived. It seems to be one of those conflicts that's always there, from everything I've read...

[A soft laugh!]

No wonder they're a little annoyed then...
Imagine how much of their taxpayer's money goes on places like our apartments.

You wouldn't think something like that would matter when there's so much fighting going on so close to home...

War is an expensive thing. Having people like us here, even more so. Mouths to feed, apartments to build, not to mention the little device that brought us here and the potential risk of overpopulation ruining everything for everyone. The accommodation here is quaint but basic obviously, but how do you think people would feel when they have to work for everything they have and we just stroll by and get it handed to us, especially when there's no discernible end to this war coming?

I don't think that's how it is at all....

Because we're here to fight to protect everyone. And the amount of us is growing smaller, not larger.

And you don't get everything handed... Just the basics; a place to live, food and clothes and things like that.

That isn't it at all... When the witches attack, we're the ones who defend the city... and the ones who go out to try and stop things from getting worse.

Anyway, what do I know. I've only been here a few hours. What do you think the reason for the riots are?

I think something's taking advantage of people's frustrations... Even before, if they were upset, it was never like this... and it happened so suddenly... and not long after we stopped an invasion too... Things should have gotten better then, with the emitters gone.

[And that is way more believable than the citizenry suddenly for no special reason at all losing it in a conflict that's apparently gone on forever anyway. Of course, the fauxpolitics were suggestion, an outgrowth of his desire to not be looked at as more than a random jerk.

This guy's theory has way more merit than that already, especially since Joshua knows that such things exist in the form of Orange Noise in Shibuya... oh, he's listening.]

Not unless we find what's causing it.... either a sort of Madness where only the people rioting are being exposed to it or something else...

What's your name?

I have something which could have picked up energy spikes around the city. Though now it's pretty useless. Someone uninstalled the program on it when I arrived. It would have likely been quite handy in this situation. Tell me, do you know of anyone off hand that could reactivate it? And I mean someone competent. I'm not about to hand it over to a psychopath with a hammer and chisel.

And there are a few people who are really good with that sort of thing here... if you asked on the network, I'm sure someone would look into it. It'd likely need to be adjusted, since I think a lot of things between worlds are different enough that it wouldn't quite be the same.
