Yo, Death City, how's everyone doin'? [ Duo's smiling face comes across the network, his braid wrapped up in a bun at the back of his head, a small smear of what is probably motor grease across his cheek. He seems to be outside working on his motorcycle, dressed in what appears to be a black tank top and cut off shorts to try and beat the heat. It's clearly not working, but this is what he gets for being a colony kid used to controlled environments. ]
Just a reminder - if anything of yours or you got smashed up - give all of us at Black Mesa a call. We make house calls or we can fix your stuff in office, and I know my way around just about everything. We also offer security systems, if you wanna be able to track down whoever smashed your stuff up, if it happens again.
[ Duo laughs a little, lightly. ] All I can say is, those guys were real lucky Shinigami's been retired for a few years now or I would've been a lot less tolerant of all this rampaging bullshit. At least it gives me an excuse to fix my bike up though, right?
[ Private to Black Mesa ]
Hey guys, gals and mechanicals - can you all check in and tell me how you're doing? If you're injured take the time you need to recover, I don't wanna be picking people up off the floor at their jobs, you know?
Prepare for an influx, though, I get the feeling we'll be making the big bucks, in the next few weeks.

Guess you got lucky with your bike, huh? Seems as though it'd be a little easy to repair- or, well, considering how fucked up someone might have left it.
Hell, I'd like some peace and quiet here as well, but it'd get a little boring. I'd go on a mission sometime, as well, but they don't seem to offer interesting ones to someone as new as me.
Hah, well, too bad for you I'm pretty sure I was pulled out of my test tube a couple hundred years in the future from this time frame and most people's version of Earth, so. Besides, I didn't have it too bad. I was a street orphan but you know, me and the boys did well with each other, it wasn't too bad. Hell, even being in the war wasn't too bad. Travel and food like no one's business.. [ He laughs lightly, realizing that he was glazing so much over but... hey. He wasn't about to linger and wonder over it. It's been a long time since he's had a pity party for himself and he wasn't about to start it again. ]
I mean... it still sucks. It's a brand new bike and now it's all fucked up and dented.
Missions are fun though. Souls have a ... weird taste to them.
...shit, never mind. Sorry you had it rough, buddy. Ahaha, luck just didn't seem to favor you today. [She's practically laughing about it, too.]
Oh, you a weapon? I wouldn't know how the fuck a soul would taste in the first place.
[ Well, the last time he told his little story he made a girl cry.. so... It was just awkward. He didn't really mind it - his life could have been a lot worse. He was still alive, so what did he have to complain about, right? As a rule, he tried not to complain too much about his life.
It had turned out pretty well, despite his beginnings. ] I mean, it could be a lot worse. I could be dead or in some comatose state of some sort post-war, you know? And I managed to survive unlike a lot of those kids, for some odd reason...
[ he laughs with her, at least, when it comes to the bike. ] Yeah, tell me about it.
Yeah. I'm a beam scythe like my gundam used to carry. It... doesn't really have much of a taste. It's just squirmy as it goes down your throat which is awkward..
Heh, would've sucked to have been in some sort of coma. I mean, I couldn't handle being like a god damn vegetable for the rest of my life. But still, sucks for the other kids that couldn't exactly make it. But that's what survival of the fittest is for, right? Can't make it, then get the fuck right out of here and die.
[That was pretty dark too, but she says things like that all the time.] Hey, at least you can make it cooler than before, right? Or shittier, if that is what you like.
...the hell is a beam scythe...? And a gundam- Hold on. [She's squinting at the screen.] ...you mean like those weird mecha shows they used to play on T.V?
[ He's used to that, really - Hilde wasn't all that girly of a girl, and considering how much he tagged around with her... it had taken him aback to see tears that time. After all, all of his friend and him had 'tragic' stories like that - it wasn't really anything new or amazing to him.
Or all that tragic, anymore. Other than the deaths of a bunch of young kids, of course ]
I don't think the others would've let me stay that way. Or at least I hope. I think they'd know that wouldn't be how I'd choose to continue living at any point. But really... the other kids.. they all died from a flu that a doctor could've easily treated. But where I'm from has a real problem with orphaned kids in gang so they just sort of... let them all die like they didn't matter. [ And truthfully, they might not have, but he'd known them, and known that they were capable of things other than making trouble or stealing, but that's just what they needed to do to survive.
He laughs, as she brings up TV shows, shrugging his shoulders. ]
I guess so. I've heard a few times about shows like that. One guy recognized me from one of those shows so.. hell if I know..
[She lets out a tiny, maniacal laugh, before returning back to her usual bored expression.
But still, she's a bit surprised he's...not too down about it in the first place. But then again, that would make him a bit tougher than most of the people she's met so far if he saw his friends die around him like that. But like she said, she's not one to actually show her real feelings on the matter, instead putting up a wall. So all he's going to get is a little frown on her face.]
...huh. Makes me wonder if it really is like that around here...I'd be weirded out if someone said I was from some show or something.
It wasn't even a disease, man. It was like a common cold type shit. Nothin' super epic or anything like that. I don't need sympathy or anything like that - it isn't gonna fix anything or change what's already happened, so... [ Duo shrugs, not really the type to sit and pity himself for very long at all. That seemed really pointless, particularly to someone who tended to laugh things off and move on like nothing had ever happened, most days. ]
... I was mostly wondering how the fuck he knew all the specs about Deathscythe.
Re: [video]
...was he some sort of die hard fan of yours...? That's sort of creepy, I would have just struck him where it hurts.
