So, this device is a means of conveying instantaneous information? I had heard such tales as possible, but could never scarce believe I would see such a marvel. Aside from Marach’s toad, surely.

[Her eyes narrow a bit and she begins talking into it as though it were a horn.]

Ah… if any should hear this, I would like for you to respond in kind. Though I have no reason to doubt the veracity of my guide’s claims, it would be very much to my benefit to bear witness to this marvel’s ability to transmit another’s visage. Surely were such a means common in Ivalice, the stratagems of the battlefield would greatly benefit.

[There’s a pause as the knight appears to be watching for any signs of life. After getting some, or perhaps after the thought had occurred, she decided to addL]

I have also heard that dissidents have brought war to the people of this city. I would like to speak with the commander in charge of administrating peace in order to assess how he plans on preparing the city and what other benefit I may be to their aid.

Well, there's canning food... putting food into an airtight container to make it so that it doesn't spoil anywhere near as quickly. Then there's also things like ships and stuff; they were originally made out of wood and then later metal because wood wasn't good at not breaking when explosives hit it.

Then there's things like planes... they were originally used to attack from the air, but while some are still made for that there are those that are used to travel between the world too.

I too had heard of ships that could take to the air. They were powered by "engines" and used "magic" as an energy source.

But yeah, umm... those ships you're talking about really sound like planes to me. Other than the using magic part, anyway.

Well, there are definitely some of them here. Though I'm not sure if planes are still in use in this world, considering the madness and everything that's going on.

...And since they somehow have magic teleportation mirrors, we really won't need them.

Of that I have no doubt. I have been told that members of both the current policing force and the group aptly named the Watch are currently assessing the situation and are in the process of taking steps to bring and end to these agitators.
