[Well, Chika's looking much better than she did the last time she had appeared on the DEMISE network. But even so, she doesn't really look all that super happy.

Actually, she's frowning a bit, her eyes darting between the communicator and something off-screen.]

So umm... there's going to be a gala, isn't there? Like... big fancy party and... well, formal dresses and stuff.

[Chika sighs.]

Okay, I guess there's no real easy way to ask this. I need help finding a dress. For something like a gala, I really have no idea what I'm doing at all.

I need a date too, but well, need to focus on the dress first.

[Chika forces a smile to her face, hoping that she hadn't really been too loud with that last comment. She was kinda surprised that she actually said that outloud instead of just thinking it, but well, nervous.]

So umm, if anyone doesn't mind helping me look for a dress, I'd really appreciate the help.

Oh. Umm, a gala's like a ball. Basically, big fancy formal dance.

[She's surprised that someone doesn't know what one is, but it could just be that it's not being translated right or whatever. Or before coming her this woman's life could've been just too busy for things like that.]

Oh. [Mulan considers. It sounds like it might be fun, but she still feels so awkward around these more modern folk. At the very least outside of talking over professional matters.]

Thank you. I am not an especially good dancer, but perhaps I will see you there? When and where is it being hosted?

It's on June 20th. And don't worry, I'm pretty sure I'm not a good dancer either.

[She pauses, before giving a giggle.]

Well, okay, I might be an okay dancer, but not with the type of dances they're likely to have at something like this. It's being hosted in the park.

And sure, I'd love to see you there.

...I think I've seen you teaching during morning training before, but I think that's the only time I've seen you.

[The girl's laughter is infectious, and Mulan finds herself relaxing a little.]

I do not go out as much as I should, admittedly, nor do I use this communicators. My world while it is the same like this in my aspects is set much further in the past so I find myself overwhelmed by it all quite easily. [She seems a little embarrassed by this but she goes on]

I hope to remedy this. Merely speaking with my comrades to train them won't do after all. My name is Fa Mulan.

Ah. Yeah, I guess everything tech wise has to be overwhelming if you're from a time before it was all common place. I've seen a lot of people freak out about the lights when they first get here.

Anyway, my name's Daimon Chika. It's nice to meet you Mulan! And feel free to ask me for any help in figuring out how some of the tech stuff works.

Thank you for your offer, Chika. I shall keep that in mind. I have been here quite a while, if you put together both my times here, but even now I find myself befuddled by much.

Oh! I thought you looked familiar when you started showing up and teaching during the training. That really explains a lot!

But yeah, I can see why you're still not used to everything. I mean, technology and stuff moves pretty fast, after all.

[She giggles.]

I know back on my world, a bunch of stuff used every day didn't even exist twenty years ago. It's kinda crazy.

Really? Such great tools are made in such a small amount of time? It truly is wondrous.

[Mulan likes to keep things simple, but that does not mean she cannot admire the hard work and creativity that must go into creating such things. Sure she likes making life easier by strapping poles with bones to her dog so he can drag around cornfeed to the chickens but that sort of inventiveness is a far cry from what exists here.]

Yeah. I mean, some stuff was based on older stuff, but even so it's kinda really ridiculous. But I guess that's what happens when you have a lot more food than we did in the past, and have more people because of it.

That is a very smart observation. [And it is very true. So much of the village's daily life is simply spent on ensuring that there is enough to eat, that their homes are properly maintained, and that they are prepared for the cold seasons. If they did not have to worry about that so much, it would allow people so much more free time to devote to bettering their tools.]

If you could choose, what would you say is your favorite of the advances that exist in your time?

My favorite?

[She thinks for a moment, before giving a bit of a nervous giggle.]

Well, I really like video games. Sure, there's a bunch of other stuff that's more important, but well, they're a pretty fun time-waster, and the other important stuff aren't things you really think about. They're just there and for the most part have always been there.

Video games? [This is a new one for Mulan, but hey she is a fan of games.]

What are they, exactly?

[scatterflower]

Well... it's kinda hard to explain, but well... they're games that you can play on a TV screen, using something similar to a remote to control a character on the screen and do stuff. There's like... well, a ton of them.

[She pauses for a moment, before smiling.]

You know, it might just be easier for me to show you some sometime. This is kinda really hard to explain to someone who doesn't know what most of the stuff is without having one of them in front of you.

Yes, that would be best. [While she can identify what a television and remote are she still has no idea how they work and so she is certain she'd get lost.]

Well, my mornings are usually rather busy, but I am usually free in the afternoon.

I'm usually busy in the mornings and the afternoon, but well, I work at a place full of video games, so you can stop by Triple A sometime and I'll show them to you.

They're a little different than what I described there than the ones that'd be at someone's home, but the basic concept is exactly the same.
