thirteenth dazzle | July 29, after dark | video
[Takuto doesn't look sad for this appearance on the network, but he doesn't look characteristically happy, either. He just looks... tired. Maybe it's just that the only light is the glow from the communicator's screen itself, but he looks far more tired than a seventeen year old boy obsessed with singing out his youth and being a source of metaphorical radiance has a right to look.
He sighs, turning the video feed away from himself, into what appears to be total blackness.]
...Some of them are missing. [The darkness of the image focuses in and out of a blurry gray before slowly resolving into tiny pinpricks of light. Stars. There's the sound of a heavy sigh once again.]
I know it's not a thing that's particular to this city or this world or the situation we're all in. People can leave for reasons much worse than a magical device's whim. But all this leaving is exhausting me. People coming and going and coming and going.
[He pauses, recollecting his thoughts as the images blurs, refocuses. The stars twinkle, distantly, silently.]
I think life is a string of people coming and going no matter who or where you are, but… but here, this… I’m getting tired of it.
BREW sent Yuugi away.
[text | private to Yako]
I'm on my roof and I would like some company.

[She frowns though at what he says next.]
What do you mean?
[Hence, he does not trust BREW. Are the malfunctions even real malfunctions? Is it really for the best when people are sent home? Is it really for the best when people from other worlds arrive?]
Do you mean the one that had been powering the barrier? The one that had been stolen?
All I know is that there's a Kishin out there that Naoto once knew as a person. A person from her world. So now that she's a Deathscythe, she and Kanji are going to go after him.
[He bites his lip--a gesture he's pretty unfamiliar with--and then heaves out a worried breath.]
Why would BREW bring someone like that here? Unless there isn't any criteria for any of us, and we're all just randomly plucked from our own time and space?
So there was, again a pause after his question when she thought about it.
During that moment, her eyes didn't really seem to be focused on her communicator. (And it wasn't. She was staring at her hand and wondering something similar about the Keyblade.)
She refocuses on the communicator after a moment.]
I doubt it's random.
[Another pause.]
How much do you know about the Keyblade?
[There's a shuffle--the sound of someone moving--and then something blots out a few of the stars. In a few moments, the communicator's lens manages to focus and it's Takuto's face, looking confused.
It's kind of a large shift in topic for him, after all.] That's your weapon form, and it was Riku and Sora's as well. Keys and blades at the same time. But that's all I know.
Why?
[video | private] Sorry decided to make this longer.
She weighs her words though and, as usual leaves out whatever she thinks she can't tell.]
The Keyblade is a weapon that can only be wielded those with a strong heart. Even if the Keyblade acknowledges you, if your heart becomes weak. [She purses her lips for a moment, frowning.]
I always thought that to have a strong heart means having the conviction to protect people and worlds. To do what was right and fight for what you believe in in the face of adversity.
[Even if there are Keyblades of Darkness, surely...surely no one evil could wield a Keyblade...]
At least, that's what I thought.
[The next part was harder, but she steeled herself to continue.]
There was a man called Xehanort. [She didn't quite spit that name in anger but it was pretty obvious it was an effort on her part not to. You could see it in the anger in her eyes when she mentioned him.] In Riku and Sora's time, he had caused many worlds to fall to Darkness and he also lied to and hurt my friends, and was partly responsible for the death of my Master.
He also had a Keyblade.
[video | private] you could have changed it eighteen times and been alright
You mean... BREW could be like that, too. Like the keyblades. Choosing people based on strength--or something just as morally ambiguous--instead of people who actually care and want to make this world a better place.
[He shakes his head slowly.] I would've guessed the same as you about the meaning of a strong heart. But it couldn't be true if this Xehanort person also had keyblade....
[video | private] But if I made it longer eighteen times it would be an essay not a tag.
...it would make sense. If someone who was brought in did something like that...maybe BREW chose him because he had the potential to help, even if he wasn't inclined to do so.
[Now that she actually thinks about it, it makes a ridiculous amount of sense given some of the people she's met here.
Ah, but now she almost regrets talking about Xehanort. She didn't regret telling Takuto, not really, but she'd rather not talk about Xehanort anymore than she needs to.
And yet, the next words come spilling out before she really thinks about them. They sounded bitter even to her but she couldn't really help it.]
Things would have been better if he hadn't had one.
[video | private] I'm sure I still would have read it.....
But Aqua's words keep him from getting lost in his own thoughts--especially the bitter note in them.]
...What happened?
[video | private] I would feel guilty for making you read all that though...
Except, of course, when it comes to herself.]
...it's complicated. [Which is to say she didn't particularly want to go into anymore detail than what she'd already told him which is the barebones of what happened.] I wouldn't even know where to start.
[video | private] let me get this straight--you'd feel guilty for making me *read*?? lol
Well, if you ever find a place to start, I'll be willing to listen.
[video | private] ...when you put it that way it does sound silly. =w=;;
...thank you, Takuto.
[Both for offering and for not pushing.]
That means a lot.
