[Edgeworth's transmissions are always organized. He is always seated somewhere, be it in Fatality Condominiums or at the Agency. Today is no different, and yes, he is at the Agency right now. However, while the paperwork and books on his desk are all in order, he looks quite frustrated and a bit exhausted. He clears his throat, and starts, his voice crisp, mincing no words.]

Good afternoon. If you have been paying attention to recent events, there have been three reported arson incidents in the Shopping District this month. The last one was ten days ago, at the Creeping Crypt. Fires were previously started in the Holocaust Mall and a DeathDonalds branch. [His brow furrows, and his disdain is clear as day.] So far, no deaths have been reported, although some refugees at the Creeping Crypt were injured.

Investigations are still going on; unfortunately, very few clues have been discovered. [A weary sigh. He folds his arms across his chest and leans back in his chair.] A locked door at the Creeping Crypt, which led to the laundry room, was forced open with a large blade of some sort; I say it was locked because the doorknob was examined. A witness, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claims to have seen the shadow of a tall person near the door that had been demolished, shortly after the fire started. They only saw a shadow, nothing more.

[He turns a page of his organizer, which is open before him and filled with notes, and some diagrams.]

Unfortunately, we have yet to find anything that can point us to a possible motive. We do not know if the arsonist is targeting a particular person, or is simply fond of wanton destruction. Most of all, we do not even know if we are dealing with one arsonist, or more.

I advise everyone to be on their guard, and contact the Agency, the Watch, or the police if you find anything that can lead us to the truth.

[Well, here’s a rare sight. The local Deathscythe and a witch from another world. Judging from the crosses and the strange clouds in the background, they’re in in the Death Room at Shibusen. Lily glances over at Spirit for a moment, wondering if he expects her to start off.]

I think I’ve mentioned before I can sense things from clothes when I touch them, about the folks who wore them. [She holds up a cracked white skull mask, the one worn by the former Shinigami.] And despite what I’ve been told, I’m not so sure if the owner of this mask actually died.

There was pain at first but when I concentrated more, I saw a vision. A man wrapped in scarves with a strange red eye on his forehead. He was attacking whoever was wearing this mask. Then the mask broke and I couldn’t see anything else. It fell off after that blow, I reckon. But I don’t get the sense this Shinigami died just then.

[The news of that leaves Spirit unusually serious. Which means it must be serious business because this is one guy you can barely get to pay attention if there's a good looking girl by his side.]

So, you heard the [his eyes shine briefly] beautiful [back to normal] lady. I'm pretty sure you all know what that means, right?

.....right?

Please tell me you know what that means because I'm not good at explanations.

[Lily sighs and prompts him…]

Um, wasn’t there something else you needed to tell folks about?

[He coughs loudly, spitting out his cigarette. But waste not, want not, so his hand immediately snags it out of mid-air....and he burns himself. Rather than react, he just sticks his cigarette back into his mouth and pretends that he doesn't have a spot of charred skin on his finger.]

A-Ahem. Right! You felt those rumbles, didn't you? This place is usually pretty stable, I think. Whatever it was, just prepare yourself. Some bad stuff is on the way and you want to be ready to defend your friends and all the lovely ladies.

Just a tip from me but looking cool is far more important than anything else so when things happen to blow up, keep a tough smile on your face. Hardboiled is what's in style these days.

......

Just stay safe and kick some ass.

[Mello hardly ever uses video, but he's rather proud that he came out of a battle with a Witch with only minor injuries to show for it: the bandages on both his forearms are the extent of the damage.

Near was slightly more worse for the wear, but he is the one who had to consume a Witch soul. Now he's awake and on the mend, and though Mello hasn't yet left his clinic bedside (the IV stand and bed railing, but not Near, are clearly visible behind Mello), there are public service announcements to be got out of the way.]

Yesterday, my partner and I defeated the Witch Isabella, and became the newest Death Scythe pair.

[He permits himself the closest to a real smile most people are ever likely to see from him, which skews slightly wicked before he speaks again.]

We might have broken the Grand Canyon a bit in the process. Sorry.

[Good morning, Death City, you better sit tight because these two have some bad news to give you. Both Agency heads look serious, but while Near's expression remains carefully neutral as always, Edgeworth looks like he might excuse himself at any given moment to shed a few tears in private.]

Greetings, Death City.

We know that most of you are still recovering from yesterday's battle, so we will make this unpleasant announcement as brief as possible. We lost two guests during the battle with the Kishin Adachi: Yako Katsuragi and Takuto Tsunashi were killed by the Witch Medusa. The physical evidence left by the vector snakes makes that the only logical conclusion.

[Edgeworth doesn't say anything at first, but manages to rearrange his expression into something more stoic, but there's no hiding how gloomy and grim his gray eyes are. His voice is clipped.]

Her plans remain unclear at the moment, and there is no other evidence pointing to a different culprit. [His brows furrow before he adds:]

Detective Yako Katsuragi and Takuto Tsunashi fought bravely and contributed to our cause. However, if their deaths - as well as many others - are not to be in vain, we must continue the battle.

[Way to go, Edgeworth, you held up for your adoring public. See, Yako's death in particular affected him, so he leaves this final part to Near.]

Edgeworth is right: we must keep on fighting. We've lost far too many people in the past few months, at the hands of Witches, Kishin Eggs and BREW alike, so all we can do is to become stronger and more resilient.

Thank you for your time.

BREW can't seem to make up its mind as to whether it wants me here or not, but for the time being, I have returned. We can only hope my presence lasts this time.

Unfortunately, my partner is... no longer here. [Raidou's voice sounds strained.] If there are Weapons out there who require a Meister, even if only temporarily, I am available for missions at any time.

[A pause.]

...Does anyone know what happened to my cats? My old apartment is empty.

[Yesterday’s Magic has closed for the day and Lily’s back at her new apartment in Death City Heights now, ruffly vintage apron tied over her equally vintage dress. Dinner is slowly simmering on the stove so it seems a good time to address the network.]

[She’s still not confident about this, lips parting slightly and then closing again, reaching out and almost turning the device off without saying anything. Or the temptation to pretend she just wants to chat about cooking. But after the other day in the foggy tunnel, maybe it’s time that she came out of the broom closet. A few of her friends are aware by now but…]

I reckon it’s time I told y’all the truth about something. [She takes a deep breath, trying to settle her nerves before she continues.]

Back home, I wasn’t just a normal shopkeeper. I could sense things from old clothes. People and buildings too. And if I concentrated, sometimes I could affect things. [She pauses in hesitation.] …I was what a lot of people called a witch.

Witch hunts went out of style centuries ago but it didn’t stop the folks in my hometown from being scared of me. They shunned me for years, nearly killed me before I left town. [There’s a frown as she recalls that day.] Some bad things happened because of my powers but I didn’t ask for those abilities. I was born with them because my father was a witch.

And I doubt the witches here asked to be born witches either. Or that they can all be bad. I think this world would be better off if more folks tried to understand them instead of just thinking of them as scary freaks to be hunted down.

[This entry's strange in that a file is included, labeled IMPORTANT. Might be handy to open it up first and take a look. But there's Kanji looking grim from the very start of the video, not looking at the camera.]

...Yo. I'm gonna make this as quick as I can, but there's some heavy shit I gotta lay down. If ya opened up the file, then ya know what I'm gonna talk about's not gonna be pretty. It's an old poster, I know, but it paints a picture for you, and lets you see what this prick looks like.

His name's Tohru Adachi. He's from the same world as Naoto n' me. Back home, he did some things we thought he regretted when he was caught n' arrested, but... we were wrong.

[The frown deepened. Maybe he was from a timeline where he'd won, but what did that matter now? He finally looked at the camera. His eyes are hard, a steelier gray than normal.]

BREW brought him here, back when it started grabbin' people from different worlds. He was free again, and it got to his head. Long story short, he ate a helluva lot of innocent souls and turned. Bastard's a full-blown Kishin!

[He scowled, ran his hand down his face. Focus... he needed to focus. From outside the frame, a smaller hand settles on his shoulder and squeezes. Kanji glances over briefly, and slowly his shoulders unhitch.]

Shibusen and agents brought in by BREW took his ass down, but then the Witches took him. Since then, he's been a pain in the ass to find, almost disappeared completely.

...'til now. Me n' Naoto found him, and we get the feeling he ain't gonna be where he is for long before he moves on and we lose him again. Shibusen's on board and we're planning a direct attack, but we need a team. We stomp his ass, and we get the information we need to start trackin' down where Medusa's hiding! We can finally bring an end this war!

[The hand at his shoulder lowers to the upper arm as Naoto enters the frame and has a seat. She nods to the taller boy before addressing the camera, far calmer than the visibly-agitated Kanji.]

Some time ago, investigations unearthed an underground tunnel system beneath the desert. Inside, there lies a lingering thin but viable amount of the yellow fog of Kishin Adachi's creation, his weapon. He will no doubt make use of it in the battle as he has before. Therefore, training in the fog in a controlled environment such as this will not only be a boon to us, but an unpleasant surprise for him. As for what the fog does...

[Now she looks warily away from the camera, but it's short-lived.]

Like Madness, it plays upon your fears and anger, but the properties of this fog functions differently. The fog is like a mirror, forcing you to face yourself in its entirety, for good and for ill. It's... something we can't properly explain without a visual.

In any case, we understand there may be hesitation to undergo such an operation, considering the strength of a Kishin. That is why we hope to answer as many questions as we can now and give it our all when the day comes.

To those of you who wish to participate in what will be your toughest mission yet, you have our utmost gratitude. We would be unable to do this without any of you.

[ When the video turns on, there's a familiar zombie girl staring at the screen. Her expression betrays the inner workings of her mind, because it's quite hard to properly express herself when her muscles default to the slackjawed, groaning zombie look. But that didn't stop her, because she could just talk, here. Typically, she spoke in 'Zombie', which was quite literally just groans. But here? BREW handled the translation, and she could be as eloquent as she wished. ]

Greetings, Death City. For those unaware, my name is Ghoulia Yelps and I have been here before. As such, there are affairs I must set in order. Following my arrival yesterday, some may have seen me as I surveyed the city. Things have changed. If anyone would be kind enough to discuss and get me up to speed on anything I may be unaware of, it would be appreciated.

[ She had gained some information from Giroro upon her arrival, but confirming it from others or learning about other things was essential. Despite the lack of expression to support it, those familiar with Ghoulia will be able to catch the determination practically radiating from her. ]

In addition, if Amaterasu, Neji, Cloud, Sephiroth, and Matt are still present in the city I would like to converse with each of you individually. My apologies for calling each of you out in this manner, but as you may know I am not a ghoul who wastes time.

Hey everyone. Sorry for being... well, a complete mess this past week. [ But hey, at least Chika's not really all that depressed now, right? That's better... though she's still not completely happy and being her usual, excitable self. ]

Anyway, like I said last time, almost all of our regular employees at Triple A have been sent back by BREW, so we're pretty much hiring again. We have a couple of temp people from Shibusen helping out, but I'd really prefer for us to have at least a bit of a stable employee force instead of just having temp workers alternate all the time.

Don't get me wrong, they're perfectly nice people, but well... it's harder to get people who really know the Arcade like that.

[ She pauses for a moment, shifting her mirror a bit. ]

Anyway, we're looking for all positions. Ticket and token clerks, janitors, a mascot, and repair techs. If any of that sounds like something you can do and you're interested in the position, reply to this message and we'll go ahead and set up an interview in person. We're going to be hiring for a while, so don't feel bad if you're too busy to meet within the next couple of days.

[ She waves into the camera, before signing off... and going to sending a few more private messages. ]

[ Private to Kyubey]

Hey Kyubey? Are you able to talk right now? There's something I want to ask you real quick.

[ Private to Mami]

Hey Tomoe-san! Is everything going well for you? I was thinking that maybe we could figure out some sort of shopping trip in the next couple of days. You know, to just hang out a bit?

[ Private to Kyoko]

Hey Kyoko! Umm... remember how you said that you wanted to try practicing with me again when I was feeling better? Well, I'm not completely better yet, but I am feeling better. I figured we could see if we could resonate together better now?

[It's a Saturday morning! Lovely day to walk your dog, or see the (death-themed, skull-studded) sights, or just kick back and relax before the next big invasion with a bowl of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons. Or...you can give a little public service announcement because of all the people BREW has been sending home. Those lucky ducks. Edgeworth has mixed feelings about this - relief because they're better off back home (with the exception of a few who have grown to prefer Death City, maybe), but also unease because the Agency lineup has dropped to a paltry 5-strong team. Why was BREW targeting the Agency in particular?

Oh, and he is 2 days shy of spending a full year in Death City after the rest of the folk from his home have been long gone. Lawyer pride! More like combat lawyer pride...?

His expression is pensive, and his eyes like gathering storm clouds. He exhales slowly from where he is seated at a...dining table. An immaculate dining table, mind. A thick novel is off to one side, on top of a small stack of files.]

With BREW sending home more people and summoning less, the Kuzunoha Detective Agency has suffered heavy losses. While it is generally better to be home and mind one's business than to fight another world's war, it does not bode well for the rest of us remaining.

[A beat. His brows furrow, and he folds his arms across his chest.]

The Agency, the heart of the guests' investigatory and archival efforts which closely coordinates with the Watch, presently has five members. Once again, I would like to extend an invitation toward those who have had experience in these fields - or those willing to learn. Not only are we looking for agents, we need a secretary, a janitor, guards and messengers. Contact me or Near, if you are interested, and either of us [read: usually Edgeworth] will set an interview with you.

[Yeah, the links to their inboxes are right thar. He makes a move as if to switch the communicator off at that point, but withdraws his hand.]

Lastly, a question for all of you: How long have you been here? [Many of the people who have been in Death City for much longer than a year were already gone. Despite knowing that BREW was far less predictable than a game of roulette, that did not stop Edgeworth from trying to puzzle out why it was suddenly bringing home more people in proportion to the number of newcomers they got every month. Was BREW finalizing its lineup for a final confrontation with the witches of sorts? Or was this just another day in the life of a demon tool?]

[Judging from the racks of old-fashioned clothes that can be seen in the background, Lily is at Yesterday’s Magic this afternoon and she doesn’t seem to be alone. A fluffy gray Norwegian forest cat is sitting on the counter behind her and yawning.]

Has anyone seen Raidou today? [She sneezes and the picture goes wobbly for a moment as a black kitten in her lap meows and reaches a paw out to the communicator.]

I found his cats outside my shop this morning and can’t seem to get a hold of him or his partner. [Which makes her worry a bit that BREW might be at it again… That cotton-pickin’ contraption did seem to especially like sending certain folks back and forth.] If he doesn’t show up to claim them soon, I reckon I’m going to need a cat sitter. [Another sneeze.]

[And might as well ask about this too…]

I’m also looking for more help in my vintage clothes shop. I’ve rented the space next door and I’ve been working on expanding so I’d like to hire some more salespeople. Ideally, someone who wouldn’t mind also helping with the laundry.

BREW has sent Ryou Bakura home. Some might be aware that he was more than my friend, he was the closest thing to family I've ever had. I did wrong by him, I took him for granted, I undermined him, and he still never gave up on me. There is an hour of need, and then there is what Bakura did; he saved so much more than my life.

He left me most of his things, but... honestly I've no practical use for many of them. Tomorrow evening I am opening my home to anyone who would like to take something to remember him by. Refreshments will be provided, I only ask that you give me with some notice so I can make adequate preparations.

This isn't all about saying hello to everyone. I actually have a question to pose to the current residents! Previous experience would be nice but not required. I took out some resources already so I can give you a run down of how I want this done. If you want to curse someone else while you do this, you're free to do that. Just know that I won't pay you extra for that.

She addresses the camera, looking a tiny bit bored, or perhaps just unimpressed.]

You know, it makes plenty of sense that, if you want someone around to hunt witches, you'd call in someone who specializes in it, right? [Here, she takes a bite of the chocolate bar, chewing it thoughtfully before continuing.] So, if someone, or something, went out of it's way to go through all the trouble to do just that, what's the point of taking away the abilities necessary for actually taking them down?

[She huffs, expression souring momentarily before letting out a noise of resigned irritation.]

This is the sort of thing that happens when you mess around with wishes and magic, though. It's not something to get other people involved in if you want things to go smoothly. [She's certain this isn't anything new to whoever may be listening, however, and rather than press the issue, she'd rather see what sort of information she can get.] Whatever. Greetings. While I have a feeling the majority of you know me, I'll introduce myself for the few who don't. I am Naoto Shirogane, Shooting Instructor at Morning Training and Agent at the Kuzunoha Detective Agency.

Introduction and credentials aside, I wanted to report a very recent investigation that my Meister and myself conducted on the cave system located near Death City. There appears to be an odd mist of Madness within the tunnels and while thin, it's potent. We're offering to escort groups who wish to practice combating its affects into the caverns. I advise having a few missions under your belt and not to merely drag a Meister or Weapon with you for this exercise. All interested parties will contact either myself or Kanji, and please do so as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee it will remain for much longer.

Thank you.
