[Edgeworth's transmissions are always organized. He is always seated somewhere, be it in Fatality Condominiums or at the Agency. Today is no different, and yes, he is at the Agency right now. However, while the paperwork and books on his desk are all in order, he looks quite frustrated and a bit exhausted. He clears his throat, and starts, his voice crisp, mincing no words.]

Good afternoon. If you have been paying attention to recent events, there have been three reported arson incidents in the Shopping District this month. The last one was ten days ago, at the Creeping Crypt. Fires were previously started in the Holocaust Mall and a DeathDonalds branch. [His brow furrows, and his disdain is clear as day.] So far, no deaths have been reported, although some refugees at the Creeping Crypt were injured.

Investigations are still going on; unfortunately, very few clues have been discovered. [A weary sigh. He folds his arms across his chest and leans back in his chair.] A locked door at the Creeping Crypt, which led to the laundry room, was forced open with a large blade of some sort; I say it was locked because the doorknob was examined. A witness, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claims to have seen the shadow of a tall person near the door that had been demolished, shortly after the fire started. They only saw a shadow, nothing more.

[He turns a page of his organizer, which is open before him and filled with notes, and some diagrams.]

Unfortunately, we have yet to find anything that can point us to a possible motive. We do not know if the arsonist is targeting a particular person, or is simply fond of wanton destruction. Most of all, we do not even know if we are dealing with one arsonist, or more.

I advise everyone to be on their guard, and contact the Agency, the Watch, or the police if you find anything that can lead us to the truth.

And if we do? Is there any reward?

[Of course, being a mercenary, that's the most important question.]

[Edgeworth just stares at her with an unfathomable expression. Actually, he never contemplated giving anyone a reward. He'll leave that up to the cops.]

That depends on how significant your lead turns out to be.

If it helps catch the scumbag?

[It's mainly a theoretical question though. She doesn't know anything about the fires.]

And if it does? How much?

We shall discuss this when you actually discover something.

And why would I want to do that if there isn't a clear reward? [That doesn't seem very promising...]

Because if you don't, the arsonist may continue his crimes, and no justice will be had for the people who were injured or who lost their property in the fires.

That isn't my problem. Not if there isn't anything in it for me. [She's in it for the money, not for justice.]

[Well. She certainly made her priorities clear. Edgeworth begs to disagree with them.]

Your residence could be the next target, if we do not catch the arsonist in time.

I doubt that. And if it were, I'd just find him and beat the repair money out of him.

I do not condone violence as a means to enforce a person's liability for their crime.

[Lily frowns a tad. She remembers hearing about the fires, had been a bit concerned with the thoughts she had lately but they'd slipped to the back of her mind with the events since.]

You're sure that last fire was deliberately set? Fires can start from lint building up inside dryers.

[With all the laundry she did in her line of work, she was especially careful about that.]

I'm very sure. [He nods.] The dryers were damaged from the outside; the insides were in better condition.

I see. The laundry room was where the fire started? Were there any signs of how it might have been started? A match or cigarette or anything of that kind?

Yes. There were scorch marks on the floor and some spilled chemicals, but so far, we have yet to find a burnt matchbox, or the remains of a match or cigarette. It's likely they have been consumed beyond recognition.

Spilled chemicals? Flammable ones, I presume. [That would explain the suspicion of arson.] Or the culprit could have used a lighter and taken it with them.

That is also a possibility, yes.

[Still thinking about what he's mentioned so far...] The shadow doesn't seem like much of a clue though. Shadows easily distort so would that witness really have been able to judge if the person was tall or not?

No, especially because we cannot replicate how the flames were burning and therefore gauge the effects of the light from the fire on the shadows. Unfortunately, that is all the witness claimed to have seen.

What about motive? Do you think it's just a pyromaniac? A laundry room doesn't seem like the most logical place to start a fire if they were actually targeting someone in particular.

Possibly. We haven't ruled out that angle, but if we are dealing with a pyromaniac, they are at least exercising some form of restraint.

[So they wouldn't be caught, likely.]

What about the previous fires? Were there no clues from either? Or a connection between the locations?

No. It is quite the strange case.

Huh. Sounds like a tough case. I doubt I'll come across anything useful but I'll let you know if I hear anything.

So I guess we can just look for a guy with a really large blade? How large of a blade is this that we're talking about, de arimasu?

It isn't as simple as that, unfortunately. A butcher knife could have caused this, or something bigger.

What, like a cleaver, de arimasu? Machete? An axe?

You're not suggesting it's a katana or something, are you?

It is difficult to pinpoint the exact nature of the blade...although a katana may be too thin a blade to have forced the door open.

Something thicker than a katana...like a claymore or something, de arimasu.......?

I highly doubt that a claymore is thick enough. [He...actually knows, having studied different swords.]

[Keroro's just name-dropping swords at this point.]

With a broadsword, then? A shotel? A scythe? Beam saber?

[It doesn't help because it could be any of those, but...]

Yeah! A beam saber, de arimasu! If there were melt-marks on the door, then it definitely could have been a beam saber.

[Except Edgeworth never said anything about the door being melted, Keroro.]

The door was hacked and slightly burned, not melted.

Then I have no idea what it was, de arimasu.
