[The video comes on to a kimono-clad lady who seems to be mid-tirade, hiding in a back alley. She doesn't know how to aim a camera at her face so you get to see her upside down, mostly a chest shot.]

--if I'm not checking the knitting of the bones and nerves he may lose use of his hand. Ken-san, his body is still recovering from fighting that Shishio Makoto! He nearly died and he needs treatment still! Not to mention, I have patients in Tokyo who are waiting for me to return. Furuhashi-san’s baby won’t deliver itself, and she is a first-time mother. Dr. Gensai will need my help.

Are you even listening? [She smacks the mirror with her hand a few times for good measure, frowning angrily.] I went on your "tour" and I don't care what you want me to do. I've had enough of this. [She huffs imperiously and pushes buttons. She thinks she has turned the mirror off, but has actually simply pressed the wrong button. Now she moves off-camera and is muttering to herself in worry and panic.]

Tch. What am I to do...? This can’t possibly be real--

[There's a level of maturity, of confidence in Kaoru's face that wasn't there before as her smile borderlines on serene. Somethin' happened.]

[Megumi sees it, and raises you a poker face.]

Well then. If you have been taking good care of him, this means that surely you have been putting that liniment I prescribed for his burns from that pig Shishio Makoto on daily?

And having him drink ginseng and ginger tea every morning for the restoration of his immune system?

And also the powdered calcium for the knitting of his bones? Daily?

..No? He arrived here completely uninjured. The battle was a few months ago, Megumi-san.

I didn't say he could stop taking those things so soon.

I never said I was from the same time period. Last time I checked I was still fighting the Juppongatana before I came here.

Excuses, excuses. [Megumi spreads her hands and shrugs.]

I suppose the heavens had mercy on dear Ken-san and sent me to him, since he needed proper treatment!

Excuse me for not being a doctor! Apparently the heavens were sparing Japan for a short while by sending you here to torment Kenshin instead.

[She forces a smile to hide her current feelings on being here, on the different look Kaoru has to her, on... everything. With a toss of her hair and a roll of her eyes, she puts on the front that she's okay with this.]

Well, they're telling me there is no way to get back. So spare Japan I shall, apparently!

Ah, ah, you can defend with the sword and I'll simply mop up the aftermath. It's teamwork, hohoho!

Oh now we're teaming up? Megumi-san I'm so honored! How did that laugh go? [she smiles sweetly]
OHOHOHOHOHO.

Oh no no no, dear, it's more at the back of the throat.

[She sighs.]

Anyway. How long have you been in this dump.

I think that's a laugh for just you.
[she counts with her fingers]
I think..more than three months now.

[Smile smile fake smiling face is permanent.]

More than three months. Ugh, I was hoping we'd be back in a weekend.

Megumi-san..[she furrows her eyebrows]
Have you any idea of where you're staying yet? You..seem a little upset. Not that I can blame you. Is anyone coming to help you?

They told me to go to this room and read a manual about my "Weapon Power."

[But the fact that she is clearly outdoors in the street should say how enthusiastic she was to get there.]

Hmph. No, no one is coming. I'm just fine! Don't bother yourself worrying about old me. Worry about Ken-san.

[Her voice takes on a chiding tone. It's a huge lie, but oh well.]

Like I'm buying that, Megumi-san. Really I don't get why all of you have to try lying to me so much. [Says the girl who is honest to a fault. Shaking her head, she sets her hands on her hips. ]

Where are you? I'm coming to get you!

Near a waterway and a street with many book shops. But I can come on my own, I'm not helpless!

Don't you want to see us? [a blink]
And this way you won't have to worry about Kenshin. He's safe and sound!

Of course I want to see you, you goofy girl! But I have a sense of direction! And I can read these signs. Tell me where to go.

H-hey! [she protests to that, as the tanuki blinks once or twice. tilts her head. ]
Um..okay well you start here--[BRB LISTING DIRECTIONS]

Understood. Well, this looks like I won't have too much trouble. I will see you soon~!

Yeah..great. [she tries not to sound too enthusiastic. she doesn't even know how to talk to Megumi about half of what's happened here.]

[And despite her fussiness, Megumi notices something that kind of... strikes her as odd.]

Hey. You silly girl. What's that long face for? Are you so displeased to see me?

When we were in the river in Kyoto, I told you what I told you for a reason, you know.

[How to even begin. Half of it isn't even her place to tell, it's whether Kenshin will inevitably tell her, or whether she will run into one of the people that impacted Kenshin as she had. That and with her and Kenshin's relationship now..all the battles--

Megumi had always been like a rival--begrudgingly a friend. And yet--she didn't know what to say to her. ]

I'm from before the battles were over, Megumi-san. I just finished defeating one of the Juppongatana with Misao-chan and almost thought I'd lost Yahiko when Shibusen dragged me here.

[and she won't really rest on the subject of Yahiko until she sees him again, even if the future is assured.

and in regards to her possible death.

she scoffs]

Of course I'm glad to see you. But I don't know what you're talking about. A lecture, right?

......Ah. Is that so? Ho strange that we came from a different time, but we are both still here. But, I am glad to see you too. even if you are still silly.

[Megumi drops her eyes to her tabi socks. This territory is extremely painful for her, but she prefers not to show any weaknesses in front of Kaoru. Kaoru is very naive and a bit immature, and Megumi knows very well how she speaks without thinking of others' feelings first-- like she did when she was lying in bed feeling sorry for herself over Kenshin.]

[In Megumi's book, medicine is her new path, to show Kenshin and the others her gratitude. And if she doesn't want to let them down by being weak, any feelings she has about herself, about love, about anything other than medicine need to be denied.]

[Doesn't make it easy though. At the same time, she's happy for her two close friends. Happy that for someone, love happens.]

No, not a lecture. I...

I wanted you to be careful, because Ken-san's body is not invincible, nor superhuman. He can't keep fighting the way he does. The stress on his bones and muscles is far too great, especially on the heart. He needs to be living a peaceful, happy life. And only you can help him have that life.
