[video] January 29, evening
[The video comes on to a kimono-clad lady who seems to be mid-tirade, hiding in a back alley. She doesn't know how to aim a camera at her face so you get to see her upside down, mostly a chest shot.]
--if I'm not checking the knitting of the bones and nerves he may lose use of his hand. Ken-san, his body is still recovering from fighting that Shishio Makoto! He nearly died and he needs treatment still! Not to mention, I have patients in Tokyo who are waiting for me to return. Furuhashi-san’s baby won’t deliver itself, and she is a first-time mother. Dr. Gensai will need my help.
Are you even listening? [She smacks the mirror with her hand a few times for good measure, frowning angrily.] I went on your "tour" and I don't care what you want me to do. I've had enough of this. You spoiled little "Death God" boy, and all of you brightly-colored-hair devils, you stop playing around with people’s lives. Human beings are not your pawns to control. Return me to that train right now.
[She huffs imperiously and pushes buttons. She thinks she has turned the mirror off, but has actually simply pressed the wrong button. Now she moves off-camera and is muttering to herself in worry and panic.]
Tch. What am I to do...? This can’t possibly be real--

Re: Video
...
Pardon me, but are you from Japan...?
[It seems pretty obvious, but hey, stranger things have happened here, best not to assume.]
Re: Video
Video
...
Your clothing suggests you may be closer to my own time than most...
[Besides the fact that she's not... wearing the same...]
Re: Video
It does? I have never seen clothing like yours at all.
It is Meiji 11 where I come from.
Video
The clothing I arrived in was ruined beyond repair not long after I arrived. I haven't managed to find any traditional clothing outside of training uniforms. I've made due with what I could find.
Re: Video
Ara, maa, is that so! You poor soul. I have extra kimono. You simply must let me loan things to you.
[Megumi holds the camera to show her basket of clothing.]
Video
is that a little note of hope in her eyes--it just might be. ANY HINT OF FAMILIARITY IS A GOOD, GOOD THING.]The offer is... very appreciated... [soooooooooooo appreciated.] Though normally it should be the veteran offering help to the new arrival, this is a little backward, isn't it?
...
My name is Tomoe, by the way.
[No surname. Definitely no surname with this one...]
Re: Video
[It doesn't occur to Megumi at all as strange that there's no last name. Many people who were of the common or lower class groups before the Meiji reforms had no family name. She leaves her proud high-born family name out on purpose. That's her kindness-- she doesn't care for such things anyway.]
Video
...
I doubt I will really be of much help here, but I will certainly try should you need anything...
[The 19th century women must stick together!]
Re: Video

[She raises her head a bit. And now the... possibly not all that obvious question but--]
Did you choose a room to stay in...?
[Because it's getting dark... and you're in an allyway. :|]
Re: Video
Video
[She nods]
I'm in the Creeping Crypt, 4 B.
...
And I work at the Hikan Tea Shop. I am not the best cook, but if you want a decent Japanese meal it may be the only place you'll find one in this city.
[If there were other Japanese restaurants here, she hadn't run into them yet.
But then again, she would just... cook for herself.]Re: Video
If we can find things for sewing, I can sew them, as well. But for right now, you'll take a set of mine.
Video
I do... really appreciate that, Megumi-san.
There are certainly supplies available. I have thought of making my own as well... [She just... didn't really want to stay in her room long enough to actually do it...]
Re: Video
I wonder if they have fabric that's more breatheable or more easy to clean here. Being as how I'm told this is the future. I hate feeling hot while I am working.
Video
I will admit, while all of the technology is still strange and bizarre, there are some things here that I can greatly appreciate--including machines that eliminate the tub and washboard.
