22nd January | Video - Immediately following the earthquake

[ The video feed flickers on to that same face, more grumpy than usual, poking at an open and still bleeding scratch on the high point of Hiei's cheek bone. The smaller demon looks a little disgruntled, a little sleepy, despite the fact that his arm and face are clearly scratched and scraped as if he's fallen and bleeding.

He doesn't seem to pay it much mind other than persistently wiping away the blood that attempts to run down his face, not so secretly sticking that same finger in his mouth as if everyone here cleans themselves up the demon way. ]

What the hell is going on in this place? I try to take a nap in a tree and wake up in time to barely save my head from the walking path. [ The camera angle changes, moving away from the small demon and panning over to a large crack that has formed in the park's shifting Earth, not too far away from Hiei's feet or where he landed. ]

It appears the city may have a new gorge forming shortly, unless I am mistaken.

[ And then, almost grudging. ] Where is the closest clinic?

I'm coming back to the apartments. [He sounds normal as he ever does, but a bit worried.] You fell from a tree? Are you alright? [He knows how high up Hiei likes to sleep.]

I'm bleeding.. [ Yes, Hiei, that's the right amount of details. But he seems to not need prompting, this time, that he needs to give more information. ]

I caught most of the fall with my arm.. You might not want to go back to the apartment, Kurama.

Where are you?

The park. There's an area where a small gorge has formed from the earthquake - I'm near there.

I'm coming there then.

I'll stay where I am. [ Which is leaned against the tree, staining the life out of his shirt, for future reference. ]

Hiei!

[It doesn't take Kurama long to find his companion (but the fact he can't find him by his ki alone is a bit irritating at times like this. Kurama looks like he was somewhere inopportune, too - he's got scrapes up his arms and there's a hole in his slacks at the knee.

There's a kerchief at hand immediately, and the black-haired teen is promptly checking the wound, lips pursed.] I don't have the herbs to help the wound. You'll have to go to a clinic.

[ The smaller demon turns as he hears his name, standing straighter as Kurama comes closer. His eyes linger a little longer on the torn knee of the other's pants, though he's admittedly a little distracted by Kurama moving in to check him over. It's mainly the split skin on his cheek and the many little scratches on his arm from where he attempted to catch himself.

He'll probably have a black eye in the morning, but that's not his concern, right now. ]

It's not that bad... [ He looks a little put out by even the idea of going to the clinic instead of Kurama just doing it. ] .. You can't just fix it?

[Way to make him feel guilty for not being able to access his plants, Hiei.

Kurama shakes his head slightly.] You may have a concussion, I can't tell like this. [But he's reaching to dab away a bit more of that blood.]

[ He's more used to Kurama's healing sessions than going to clinics or hospitals, it isn't his fault. :C ]

Well how the hell are they supposed to tell?

[Kurama issues a soft sigh. Truthfully, he knows enough to at least diagnose whether or not Hiei has a concussion. And really, he shouldn't be surprised Hiei is going to resist going by all but kicking and screaming (and were it anyone but Kurama, he probably would kick, at least).]

I'll do my best, but if I can't help you like this, will you go?

... If it's my only option. [ But he's frowning anyway, already displeased by even the thought of it. It's usually as simple as taking a few draughts of Kurama's herbs, and that was it besides sleeping it off. So now, to be faced with doctors and actual medicines of the human world... isn't all that pleasing.. ]

Fair enough. [Kurama checks to ensure Hiei's bleeding has stopped, and folds the blood-stained kerchief.] Can you walk?

Yes. [ Like he's had about one too many drinks, but hey, it's walking isn't it? So in all technicality, he can walk, even if he's on a bit of unsure footing. It still isn't too bad, so far as he's concerned. ]

.. Are you sure the apartment is safe to return to?

[Sign number one- unsteadiness/dizziness. This is looking bad already. But, Kurama doesn't say anything for now. Instead he offers an arm to steady his companion.]

It's there or the clinic. The structural damage hasn't been too severe on any of the buildings I've seen so far, despite the facial damage.

[ He gives a dismissive glance to that arm the other offered, brows raising as if to say 'are you serious?' even if his mouth wouldn't. He's determined to walk on his own, damn it, and the only way Kurama is going to stop him is by forcing him to walk with assistance. ]

... The apartment first. We aren't that high up.

[Fine, Hiei. But if you so much as start to fall, Kurama's going to carry you. So mind your step.]

Alright. Don't walk too fast.

Hn. [ Of course he does the opposite of what he's told, determined to prove that he's fine, damn it. Which automatically seems to fail, as his feet seem to mix themselves up, and he ends up pretty much tripping over his own two feet.

Welp. Looks like he's being carried. ]

[Kurama reaches forward without thinking, passively noting his reaction time is slower than he'd like. Still he makes it to Hiei before he reaches the ground, and leans in to catch him. And -- yep.

Kurama moves to hoist Hiei bride-style into his arms. At least it's not too far to the apartments.

No complaining, Hiei.]

[ He doesn't seem to know what to do in the span of time between being caught from his fall and hoisted up, though when he recognizes that he's being carried, he's very unhappy. ]

Kurama!! [ If Kurama wasn't.. Kurama.. he'd be kicking and punching by now. ]

Put me down! Now!

Enough. [Kurama's voice is gentle but firm, and his grip doesn't give.] It's only because it's you that I'm not taking you to the clinic.

And it's only because it's you that I haven't punched your lights out!

Put. Me. Down! [ Nope. It's not that easy to settle him, Kurama.]

Of course I will.

As soon as we get back to the apartments. It will go much faster if you remain still.

Kurama - ! [ He decides to try to struggle to be released before resulting to his more natural reaction which is something between just, you know, lashing out with a punch. ]

[Kurama doesn't have any hands free to block, and being so close, it's hard for Hiei to miss. And Hiei being a seasoned fighter, well...

Kurama is at least careful to set Hiei down upright, rather than unceremoniously dropping him on his rear, and he raises a hand to his mouth gingerly.

That was uncalled for, Hiei. >:c ]
