So, is this normal here too? Aside from constant surveillance, ongoing war and random kidnappings in the name of "war effort" they seem so fond of.

Where I'm from, taking another option would have had me killed. Although death and murder are far more fitting for a tale of woe. I suppose I should change the genre.
