I was hesitant about committing to taking part in this war until I had all the facts in front of me, but the recent attacks on civilian targets have certainly dispelled any doubt in my mind. I'm ready to do whatever is needed to shut these Witches down.

I'm told that I'll need a partner, and I must admit that I haven't been looking very hard. Apparently I'm a meister, meaning I'll need a weapon. If there's anyone available and interested, I would appreciate a response.

I don't disagree. However if you leave no room for being lighthearted, you can't return with even a fraction of the person you used to be in tact.

I know, trust me. But I hope you'll understand if I'm not in a particularly cheerful mood at the moment.

I completely understand. I was ripped from the middle of battle to come back here a second time. Even worse, I'm left without my natural abilities here.

[anationisnothing]

I wasn't that unlucky, but I had just discovered that the graves of two old friends had been defiled to send a message to me. I'll never know who did it or bring them to justice now. We all have loose ends we left behind, I suspect.

You will, eventually. Everyone will be sent home in time, if not... before the end of this war. I went home once only to return again.

Well, I suppose that's a bit of a relief. Can't say I'm particularly happy about being left at the whims of an omnipotent alien artifact, but hey. It's not the first time and it probably won't be the last.

Yeah? You aren't alone in that experience, I'm afraid.

They have Cosmic Cubes where you're from, too?

[hexappeal]

Not by that name, but we might. My universe has a lot of things that bring headaches.

[anationisnothing]

Uh, a blue cube about this big [motions with his hands to indicate a box about half a foot on each side] packed with cosmic energies that can grant the holder any wish they want. Of course, the people who seek them out aren't usually up to much good.

[hexappeal]

Lucky us. We just have the usual aliens, ghosts, zombies, monsters, so on and so forth. Not too many wish-granting items and those tend to be in the possession of myself or Doctor Fate for safe-keeping.

I've had all of the above myself. Not to mention vampires, mole men, Nazi vampires, and robots. Our worlds sound somewhat similar.

Ah, those sorts. Got 'em, too. Nazis are few and far between, though. The All-Star Squadron did away with them and the Spear of Destiny ages ago.

They do, yeah.

[Steve doesn't mention that he was basically created to be a Nazi-fighting machine. It might seem like bragging, and he doesn't like to do that.]

There's clear differences, but perhaps we're not too far off on the multiverse timeline. I don't suppose there's a team of heroes called the Avengers in your world?

Maybe not. [I can't remember if the Avengers/JLA is still part of continuity or not, whoops!] No, we've got the Justice League of America, which I'm a member of in addition to leading the Sentinels of Magic.

Perhaps. Assuming it's a group of the best and brightest metahumans that get together to protect the planet against various threats?

Earth's Mightiest Heroes, gathered together to face threats that no one hero could deal with alone? I do believe we have equivalence.
