Sometimes I must wonder if BREW truly thinks it so wise to take the powers some of you naturally had and replace them with those we are given here. Considering the events of the invasion and the retrieval mission, I cannot say I fault some of you for wishing your powers were your own, and not reliant on others.

I do wonder why it is things must change so, however. Would it not be simpler to merely adapts people's abilities to fighting Witches than to change them completely?

[There's some quiet tapping, and then a sigh.]

Regardless, it was good to see that we could all manage with the hands we were dealt when things came down to it. A shame that it took us quite as long as it did, however.

Would you perhaps be interested in taking a mission outside of the city soon? I feel as if a bit of time away from everything would do some good.

Certain meister abilities can be accessed without help from a weapon. I quite like mine.

Considering the sort of person you appear to be, I am not surprised that you would prefer an ability which you do not have to actually be able to cooperate with another person to use.

Maybe it's a matter of strength? I'm sure there are some people here who don't know how to fight, or don't have any sort of abilities where they come from. Or the opposite could be the case - some people are so powerful that the city might not last long if they could use the powers that they normally had, or powers that are at that level. [She can think of a few people back home who'd fit that description - like Gildarts. Or Natsu. Or herself. ...Okay, maybe those aren't the best examples - two out of three of those people are already here.]

Though with the way the attack came, I do not think a bit of collateral damage would have been too terrible, all things considered.

It would certainly be helpful with dealing with the witches and ending this mess, yes, but I think that the people who normally live here would prefer that their city remained standing when this is over. Not to mention any evildoers who would rather destroy everything in their path than fight off the witches, or who would prefer to join the witches instead.

I'd been lead to believe that those of us with certain abilities normally had them adjusted slightly to continue to follow this world's system of Meisters and Weapons.

And those of us without are given new ones- but that does not mean the same measures could not simply be applied to powers that some already have.

[It's not like she had any powers to lose, but sometimes she wonders if the people who did aren't right to complain.]

But how many of those brought here have completely altruistic intentions? [While he has lost his magic and was terrified about what the loss meant initially, he was coming to terms with it.] I think this was done to bring in more soldiers and at the same time prevent a worse threat from arising that the people of this world wouldn't be able to handle.

What about those who don't have any powers? If BREW was to take the powers and transform them into "Meister abilities", there would be those that would be in disadvantage during a battle.

Well, I for one did not have any powers before I came here- and I do not believe myself to be at any more a disadvantage than anyone else. Especially considering that some of our meisters and weapons alike are hardly skilled combatants.

But there are many who never fought, not even when they were kids, much less in an actual battle.

I have no powers to miss, but I have seen how frustrated new arrivals become by the fact.

It can be frustrating. Especially when you want to help, but don't know how. [A beat.] And it can be unsettling too at first.

Mm. I trust your partner is all right as well?

It's hard to know just how exactly BREW works. I wonder if that really would be easier...

I believe it might make the transition easier if the powers they had to work with were more familiar... but as you have said, it is difficult to tell just how BREW operates.

I think BREW took away the abilities of everyone so the people of questionable morality wouldn't use their powers to destroy the place. With this, they limit their power and keep them tied to the city. They can't run off and align themselves with Witches for special favors, since they have no use with them as compared to the use they'd have if their abilities were intact.

That and resonance helps fight off madness. Without the system, we might become more prone to going insane. [ Tenten actually just ripped this all off from Azusa. Oops. ]

Who is to say someone would not go ahead and try regardless? After all, there seems to be no shortage of those willing to sell out the city, if the incident with the water was any indication.

The issue with resonance is much simpler to understand though, yes- attempting to fight off madness on one's own can become fairly difficult. [If not outright impossible, in certain situations.]
