So lovely to return to the city and find it in such a state. Between the idiocy of out favorite group of home-grown terrorists and the frivolity and passive aggression of our fellow guests, it is lovely to see things are still being handled with the usual aplomb.

[Fabiola's expression is terribly deadpan. She's done her best to be polite in her stay here, but at the moment, she's not feeling quite that well-mannered.]

Commander, I will be returning to my patrols tomorrow.

If anything of importance has happened, I trust someone will fill me in.

I was wondering if there happens to be anyone here that has experience with constructing or repairing advanced machinery. Specifically robots.

I am not asking because I need any repairs done to me now. It was brought to my attention some time ago when I was speaking to a human Medic that it would be a smart idea to find someone to work on me, should I sustain any minor to serious damage in future battles.

I am aware that it may be necessary to study me as I am now to understand the way that I function. I have no problem with that as long as my partner is allowed to be there.

Last few days were so much fun.

Black Mesa is back in business. For those who don’t know what Black Mesa is, it's a House Call Technician business, and we fix computers, broadcasting and wireless systems, business equipment and security systems. If anyone is interested or just wants a job, call me maybe.

[ PRIVATE TO: BLACK MESA EMPLOYEES ]
We are going put up cameras all over the city. More, at least. Ones that will actually capture when few people are being kidnapped on the streets after being chloroformed.

The Detective Agency will supervise this since it’s for them.

[ PRIVATE TO: DUO ]
I have a proposal. Not marriage, but close.

[ PRIVATE TO: NEAR and MELLO ]
Thanks for breaking into my place, setting off the alarm and starting the program to erase everything I had in my three computers. That was really awesome and completely necessary.

Near, we are also ready to start setting up the cameras. Whenever you are ready.

[ PRIVATE TO: SOLLUX ]
Hey, let’s go on a mission tomorrow or the day after?

[It’s been awhile, but Barricade’s decided to grace the network with his anonymous presence. Kidnappings and rescue missions aren’t all that interesting to him, after all. Let the humans sort out their own.]

I think everyone here is in agreement that BREW is a terrible invention. What really bothers me about it, though, is the fact that it’s obsessed with pulling in more humans than anything else. It’s a disturbing thought if humanity is the common denominator across endless realities, isn’t it?

I suppose it sticks with what it knows, which is consistent for a machine built by humans and not helpful at all. Human conflict solved by human ineptitude isn’t a very good strategy. I’d give it some points for wising up and bringing in superior species every once and awhile, except none of us want to be here. The only comforting part about humanity infesting so many realities is that there’s always something actively trying to wipe it out. That's a universal constant I can live with.

[Once again, the late afternoon finds Fabiola perched on a rooftop, sun setting somewhere off to her side. She shifts slightly, tucking her legs up Indian-style, and waves cheerfully.]

I have discovered that 'paintball' is a fairly popular game in certain places- and here I thought Reborn was simply quite creative in his methods of, ah, 'encouragement'. Regardless, I have been wondering- would anyone care to participate in a game, if one was arranged? It would, of course, take some time, but...

[She tips a little to one side as a bird passes a little too close for comfort, completely nonplussed by how high she is or how precarious her perch is.]

I would be willing to make arrangements, if enough people were interested. What does everyone think?

Here in Death City, we are all mostly soldiers. But I am a bit curious, what was everyone's profession in the world that they came from? I know that some of you may not have had one for various reasons, but you are still free to reply to tell me what it is that you did back on your world.

I will start things off.

Where I am from, I am a soldier. I became one after war broke out upon my home planet. The war has been going on for over a millennia, and I fear that it won't be ending any time soon. But before the war and becoming a soldier, I was a guardian to one of my people's most sacred relic along with another Bot.

Hi again, Death City!

[Have a resident sea troll, giving the video feed a full, sharp-toothed smile.]

I've been really bored lately, so I need you to recommend to me some good human movies. Ones with happy endings!

Or.. if you don't know what to suggest for that.. where can you go in Death City that's really fun, like the carnival was! ...Until it got destroyed and crash-landed, obviously!

Now that things are calmer, I guess it's time to pimp my business.

Hi, I'm Matt and I've opened a business recently called "Black Mesa".
[ whoever gets the name wins ten points in Matt's consideration. Whoever gets the irony of that name, gets 50. ] It's a House Call Technician business, and we fix computers, broadcasting and wireless systems, business equipment and security system. So, we are officially open, so if anyone needs anything, let us know.

I'm also hiring. If you are interested in that, give me a call.
[ he links to his Inbox ]

[ ooc: I won't post top the ooc comm about this, but you can find about Matt's business here. His Inbox is here. ]
malandragem: (Are you sure this will help me grow?)
[personal profile] malandragem
It certainly does warm up quickly here, does it not?

[Fabiola's hair is pulled messily back into a bun far different from her usual one. In front of her there is a baking pan that she is filling with something creamy and chocolatey-looking.]

Might there be anyone here who is capable of teaching sharpshooting? My aim had been improving steadily while Jade was her, but I am afraid I have not been as diligent with my practice in that respect as I could have been. So if there is anyone who is able who would be willing to help, I would appreciate it, thank you.

[She finishes pouring and swipes her fingers through some of the mixture remaining in the bowl, giving a pleased hum.]

Does anyone like mocha cheesecake? I believe I will have plenty to spare when this is done.

[Six and Holiday were sitting in their new apartment together for this video. However, it's only the doctor that speaks. Six remains quiet next to her, but he's there for moral support and all. Besides, this was his idea in the first place.]

We had heard about the casualties during the city wide invasion and we were thinking that... there should be some sort of memorial for them all. For the residents of Death City and the guests alike. We were just wondering what opinions everyone had about this.
blossomgale: ([in-game] self-sacrifice)

[ A pigtailed girl turns up on the video feed. She's sitting down in a room somewhere in the Casualty Communal. Unlike her first room in Death City that was filled with potted flowers, it's looking pretty empty and lonely right now. ]

So much has happened while I was gone. I don't... even remember leaving Death City.

And, I went to check my old room. All of my things are gone. My flowers, my camera with all the pictures from the pool party, my gloves... I'm going to have to find a pair of gauntlets and an anklet. [ Those are what provided the extra weight behind her punches and kicks after all. ]

Tiger Festival disappeared too. If anyone has seen a brown hamster wandering around anywhere, please let me know. I hope he's okay... [ She lets out a sad sigh. She failed to take care of her baby! ]

Sorry, I couldn't be here to help protect everyone. This time, I hope BREW will let me stick around longer.

[There’s an awful, electronic sound that grates across the network, something like a cross between static, feedback and a dying dial up modem. Barricade's curious if the right people are listening when he connects to the network, and the whole thing lasts all of four seconds before ending. About ten minutes later, an anonymous text message appears.]

Your glorious machine BREW has something of a glitch. In my world we sought to destroy and enslave the pathetic human race. Why would it assume I had any reason to fight for it now? And don’t answer ‘because it’s the only way to get home’, because that’s a load of slag.

[Today finds Fabiola perched somewhere high, and taking a well-deserved day off from her usual activities. She raises the hand holding a thermos- coffee, because she considers herself too mature a girl for something like hot chocolate- to the camera, and then takes a sip of her coffee, preparing herself to speak. She's not as long-winded as usual today, though perhaps it's for the best, considering what she wants to ask.]

I know a lot of people have left lately, and I know some of those here are better at handling it than others. So in the interest of helping those that do not take it as well as others...

[She shifts idly, peering over her hands at the ground below and scooting backward just a little.]

How do you make yourselves feel better, Death City? What do you do in order to keep pushing forward?

[The feed for his device switches on and shows Bumblebee staring out of one of the windows of his warehouse at the sandstorm. He hopes it won't ruin his paint job if he has to go out in it.

He picks up his devices and activates the text function.]

This is my first time experiencing a sandstorm. I hope everyone reached a safe place before it overtook the city. If not, I'm willing to go out and retrieve people. You only have to ask.
malandragem: (That's something I'd like to see~)

Good afternoon, Death City...!

[Fabiola's settled onto one of the swings in the park, and is rocking back and forth as she waves at the screen. It's likely disorienting as all get-out, but she... probably doesn't know that. Damn 90s kids and their lack of webcam etiquette. She stops swinging when she starts to talk though, so that's good, right?]

As it seems to be a month for asking questions, I was wondering- there are plenty of residents here that would be considered Aliens- that is, extraterrestrials, from other planets and the like. Would some of you mind terribly telling me about the places where you are from? I am- [kind of a sci-fi nerd--]- quite interested in learning about what kind of civilizations occur on other planets.

[She rocks back and forth slightly again, and then taps her chin with a gloved finger, thinking.]

And on an unrelated note- does anyone know anything about painting murals? Or taking care of chickens? The two are quite unrelated, but I thought if anything, someone who knows something about either of them might know catch sight of this.

[Seriously, there is a ninja chicken overtaking a corner of her living room, DC. Help.]

[This morning, Shuurei is on her balcony and looking up at the sky. It’s nice that the weather has cleared although she still finds the grinning sun weird.] That thunderstorm a few days ago was unexpected. [Her smile is a bit pained as she recalls that evening.] Do they occur often here this time of year? They were only during the summer in Saiunkoku.

[Agency Filter]

Greetings. [bows] I spoke to Lord Miles some time ago but with everything that has happened recently, there hasn’t been a good opportunity to introduce myself yet. My name is Shuurei and I’ll be helping with investigations when I’m not busy with my clerk duties at the Watch in the evenings.

I worked for the Censorate back home and was a bookkeeper before becoming a government official so I’m used to searching through old records and ledgers. [She had helped discover embezzlers and art forgers that way.] I would be happy to assist with any research needed for cases and look forward to working with you. [smiles]
malandragem: (I don't see anyone else here so...)
[personal profile] malandragem
Sometimes I must wonder if BREW truly thinks it so wise to take the powers some of you naturally had and replace them with those we are given here. Considering the events of the invasion and the retrieval mission, I cannot say I fault some of you for wishing your powers were your own, and not reliant on others.

I do wonder why it is things must change so, however. Would it not be simpler to merely adapts people's abilities to fighting Witches than to change them completely?

[There's some quiet tapping, and then a sigh.]

Regardless, it was good to see that we could all manage with the hands we were dealt when things came down to it. A shame that it took us quite as long as it did, however.

[Without saying anything else, she switches to text and then puts up a filter.]
