[greetings, Death City. it’s your wonderful current acting Shinigami gracing the screens of your communicators, and he has a very, very important announcement. seriously, look at that face. in the background, however, some may notice two girls, the taller one of which was just shaking her head.]

	Good morning. I hope that everyone is enjoying their day so far. However, there are two things I’d like to address with everyone. First. [holding up that abomination of a box of chocolates.] Excalibur, if this is your work again, you could at least leave me out of it. As such these are going directly into the trash. [really, what is with that particular chocolate? anyway, setting those aside to be trashed as stated.] Secondly, I could not help but notice how wrong some of these Valentine’s Day hearts have been. [holds up one. to the casual observer, nothing seems amiss, but Kid will be quick to point out the problem.] If you were to fold it like so, you can see that the halves do not evenly match with one another. [demonstrates. see that sliver of heart that goes over the other half? that’s like. barely noticeable? yeah that.] So as your current acting Shinigami, I thought it only proper if I should instruct everyone as to how to create a perfect heart by—

[ WHAM! Suddenly the door is kicked open and in stumbles Black☆Star, dragging Soul tenderly by the hand(?) ]

Kid! Kid! We got an announcement!

[ He almost gets blushy when he looks over at his BFF. ] ....you wanna tell him?

[Let it be known that Soul did not seem to mind this dragging at all. Heaven forbid, he might have even looked... happy. And not just in his usual Soul way. Like. Genuinely happy.

What is going on.

At the question, though, Soul squirms a bit (yep, squirms), fidgets, fails to make eye contact several times, then mumbles:]

No, you tell him.

But, Souuuuul... [ Black☆Star practically pouts, turning in the direction of the deathscythe before setting his hands on his shoulders. He stares deep and lovingly into his eyes. ] ...maybe if we sing it?

[this? this is a look of pure disgust and horror as Kid just stares at them.]

What the hell is wrong with you two? [and what the hell do they want to tell him? does he even want to know?]

[Wow, Black☆Star. Bro.

You’ve got such nice eyes.

BUT WAIT HE MUST NOT GET DISTRACTED.]

Fine! But you have to start!

[ Black☆Star spares a slightly annoyed glance toward Kid when he interrupts their ~*~broment~*~ ] There’s nothing wrong with us! We just finally realized something that’s been there all along.

[ He turns back toward Soul. ] You could say I’ve been SHOT THROUGH THE HEART [ begins the horrible, off key singing and he grabs Soul’s cheek to pinch it with the next lyric. ] And you’re to blame...

[...oh hell no. he could see where this was going. so while those two bro birds were distracted—]

Liz. Patti.

[guns will soon be in this young Shinigami’s hands, though his weapons were cracking up.]

[Of course, in pursuit of TRUE LOVE, Soul can’t be bothered to notice impending doom on their hands, right?

So now, in an equally off-tune voice, and complete with what he thinks is a totally intense Rockstar Stare, a pinch to Black☆Star’s cheek in return, and a grand sweep of his other hand in Death the Kid’s direction:]

...You give looooouuuuuve~ A BAD NAME!

I ….......um....uh.... [ Black☆Star comes to a dumbfounded pause as he tries to remember the rest of the words, looking to Soul as if they could bust out some dramatic and heartfelt duet. ]

[And that look just makes so much sense.

Forget the fact that they’ve both forgotten the lyrics, guys. THIS IS TRUE LOVE. As such, Soul’s giving his bestest bro ever a big smile, a Meaningful Nod, and then, as he turns back to Kid:]

SHOT THROUGH THE HEART--

[BANG BANG.

two shots, perfectly aimed right at their chests. the force behind it was enough to knock them back to the ground, and Kid just stood there with a deadpan look, the smoke still rising from the barrels of his twin demon pistols.]

Satisfied?

[well they did say "Shot through the heart".......]

I have never considered that before. But if someone were to make a heart, even if it were not perfectly symmetrical, the effort should display their feelings quite nicely!

But it was heart-felt, was it not? That itself makes it beautiful!

That effort is meaningless if it's not done absolutely correctly and perfectly. It would still be far less than perfection.

...I highly doubt it was heartfelt and more like some horrible joke.

[Lee considers this with a puzzled look.] Why do you insist on perfection? There is beauty in all things.

Oh. Then that is disappointing. [He frowns.] Jokes should not be played on one's heart.

Perfection, order, balance—these are all things I strive for and believe to be what is best. There is nothing more perfect or beautiful than bilateral symmetry, where everything is equal and balanced. [ah...symmetry. such a beautiful thing.]

I wouldn't think too much about it. I think the joke is less about whatever "feelings" they have and more about their entire presentation.

[Lee can see what Kid means, somewhat. He did pride himself in how neatly he kept his hair trimmed and how, if he aimed just right, he could split a boulder in two with his bare hands.]

Balance is a good thing! But there can be beauty in imperfection as well. If everything were perfect... I do not believe there would be a need to keep existing.

Hmm. Well, if you are not upset, then I suppose it should not be a problem. [Lee still would have been upset if it was himself, however.]

Hm...I suppose imperfections would be part of having a balance. The same with good and evil—they offset and neutralize one another. However, that still must be kept in some balance. One cannot be greater than the other.

Regardless, having a heart with two uneven halves is both imbalanced and imperfect, so it's an unworthy either way. [logic. he has it.]

I always take whatever these idiots do with a grain of salt. The only thing I'm upset about is them barging in here with no real purpose other than to do that. ["that" being that poor excuse of a song and dance routine.]

I believe I can agree with that!

[So harsh, Kid. It's a little worrying to hear someone talking about imperfection with such passionate dislike. He'll start arguing about it for now. It could only lead to grief.]

I am sure they were just doing it all in good fun. [He tries another grin.] Perhaps they were just trying to get you to smile more!

[it's okay Lee. everyone worries about him. just wait until he has one of his breakdowns.

but he just gives him a slight arch of the brow at that.]

Try to get me to smile more?

Yes! Smiling is a very good thing! And it is the best gift anyone could receive from a friend!

If that was their goal, there are far better ways to achieve that.

Then perhaps you should tell them this next time before you punish them!

And do not think harshly of your friends! After all, their intentions were probably quite pure!

I hate to break it to you, but these two are not as...pure as you are hoping them to be. I've known them for quite a long time, so I know how they really are.

[small sigh. but he does relent a little.]

However, I will admit that despite the headaches they tend to give me, they are my good friends. So you have nothing to worry about.

[pause.]

You could say this is our way of expressing our friendship.

[He smiles and nods.]

I see. So they are good friends, but they like to tease you! That is not such a bad thing.

Friends often have special ways of showing affection between one another. This is just their special way towards you! And it is a good thing. [He's very certain of this. You won't change his mind, Kid.]

I don't think I have much of a choice in the matter regardless.

[but even though he will always lineface, deep down he doesn't mind it so bad.]

Persistence is the sign of friends willing to stick by your side through thick and thin!

[Consider that, Kid! Lee knows you love them back~]
