[The video shows not the sender's face, but a puppy, most of a black-clad leg, and a bare foot with the remnants of black polish on the toenails. The puppy's growling and tugging at the jagged hem of the leather pants, as if they're a threat that must be neutralized.]

Who the hell does this belong to?

[Mello tries to pull his leg away, but the puppy seems to see this as escalation of the game, and gives a little bark before seizing the leather again.]

Hey! These were expensive, you little fucker!

[The picture goes dark as the communicator lands on the floor.]

He does flip it to back to video, though he still doesn't show his face. The puppy's licking Mello's toes.]

I thought cats were supposed to be the sneaky ones.

[Aaah, that's better. He's just going to sit and watch... and then wonder what kind of pleasure anything could get out of licking toes like that.]

Kakashi's got a bunch of dogs, they're pretty... excitable?

[Mello thinks he'd prefer cats. They have dignity.]

[Which means Mello doesn't hate the little creature as much as he ought to. It decided it was coming home with him, and by god, it did. He can almost approve of that.]

[The puppy gives a playful (chiding?) snap at Mello's toes, and he reaches down and taps its head with his index finger.]

Kinda looks like you ain't makin' him go though, yanno? If you really didn't want him, you'd have chucked him out by now, right?

I had to be able to take a video of him to find his owner.

Why've you still got him though?

Because if I did chuck him out, he'd either destroy the door to my flat, or get lost again and bother someone else, and now I've said he's here, I might as well hang onto him until his owner claims him, right?

[And he's only petting the puppy to keep him from taking another snap at the leather.]
