[Forgive him for doing this a little late, but he's been busy adjusting to his new surroundings as well as learning about the responsibilities the other Roy had undertaken while he'd been here. He could see how they came about to a degree, and he'd likely be agreeable to possibly continuing them if he was asked to. He'd cross that bridge when he got there, however.

Good afternoon, Death City. Roy Mustang. I've been made aware that this isn't the first time that someone bearing my name has been here.

[The idea of an alternate universe is still something like out of a novel. If he didn't already have physical proof of other more outrageous things happening here, he'd still be somewhat hard-pressed to believe it.]

Unfortunately, I am not the same man who was here previously. From what I've heard about him, he was apparently from a different timeline.

However, while I have no memory of this place, or the people who once knew this man... I am willing to help this city in the same manner as my counterpart did, if those in charge here are all right with that.

All things should be considered when possible.

Up until now, I never thought that different realities, let alone different timelines, actually existed, they were merely an element of fiction to be found within books. Time travel itself is something which rather stretches the imagination. Of course I never had reason to waste my leisure time in considering the concepts beyond their presence in works of fiction.

I suppose that is a decent enough excuse. But for the future, you will clearly be prepared for any eventuality.

It's not an excuse. If you give me a concept from a piece of fiction, I will treat it as fiction, until you can prove to me it can actually come about. You don't assume things can and will happen in a specific manner without proof to back up that belief. You'll more than likely end up getting yourself into trouble that way, more often than not.

If that is the outlook you wish to take, then I can prove whatever is true. I am one of the top alchemists in my field so such a thing is easily done.

It works as it should. It is, inevitably, the conversion of one type of matter into another as long as you have the proper base components.
