Recently I was introduced to a practice that does not exist in my home world.

Said practice is 'marriage' and I became rather curious about it. Someone suggested to me that I read some wedding planning books or romance novels to learn more about it. I asked one of the sales person at the nearby bookstore for their most popular romance novels.

[At this point there is a very long pause in Disciple's reading as she tries to find a way to put this politely. She was pretty certain what she had been reading in these books was exaggerated, or some weird fetish fulfillment but what if it wasn't and she just ended up insulting a bunch of people?]

am confused. By a lot of things I have read in these books and would like clarification on some things so I do not go off with the wrong ideas of the romantic practices of humans. I'd rather not go into detail about what I have read in some of these books since I understand we have some young ones with access to this network, so if someone could just tell me about marriage and the human quadrant system I would be much obliged.

Ah, the 'norm' in relationships. Well, it seems as though males here are dominate in the relationship instead of the female though she can be. I don't understand how it came to be that way since males tend to be too troublesome to lead anything, but I think it's best if the couple in the relationship to decide. Whoever takes the lead courts their prospective partner.

When the relationship is formed, it depends on the couple again. If a pair wishes to be together, it doesn't matter what they do or how they express themselves to the other. At least, it shouldn't matter. I often see couples exchanging gifts or going on 'dates'.

[There is something Disciple has been noticing through her reading and various conversations, and it's Ammy's explanation that finally makes her decide this pattern can't possibly be coincidental]

Do humans only pair by male and female?

Now that you've mentioned it, that's the majority I've seen here. Humans seem to frown upon two of the same gender to come together. How strange. Personally, I would love to be able to bury my nose into a large bosom or two should I feel like it.

I had noticed this pattern before but it struck me as so strange that I felt a bit silly about bringing it up, certain it was just coincidence. Yet you say it is frowned upon. I suppose you can't venture a guess as to why that is?

Ah, I getting off again. I have noticed males teasing other males for being in a relationship with someone of the same gender. For some reason, not much is said to females in the same sense. It must be part of this masculine order and their gaze upon the other gender. It could have something to do with human beliefs.

That is a bit troubling to hear. It is something I will have to look into for certain.

Now that we have broached the subject, however, I am equally curious about you and where you come from, Ammy. If you do not mind, could you tell me more about it?

Thank you, and yes, it is. Still, that picture is only a small piece of it. My family and I do what we can to maintain its luster with the other beings who live there. One or two demons here and there, but order over all.

Demons?

Think of them like... Kishin eggs. However, they are spirits of misfortune and darkness who plague those who attract their attention without the need to consume souls. They enjoy cursing and poisoning the land, but there are a few who aren't too terrible.

It must have b33n a difficult job, having to protect so many. How did you and yours manage?

Well, humans and animals can handle themselves unless the demons are older (they power with age you see). Besides that, spirits are capable of proving protection and I have fourteen children.

[That....sounds like a lot. Disicple knew how hard it was for Dolorosa to take care of one wiggler, but fourteen?]

By now yes. If they could be kids again, they would be so adorable. The afternoon naps we use to take in the garden the triplets would grow and the mochi we would make during the full moons. Of course, I don't miss the small scraps they had between each other during disagreements.

With so many it is not surprise there were disagr33ments. Are any of them here with you?

No, they're not. They would be easy to recognize though what with all of us having white fur and red markings.

No I'm not! I love to meet new people and exploring. It might take a while to go home, but I've been separated for longer from home before.
