I've been thinking, lately, about something I experienced back in the place where I was born..
If you could meet yourself as a child…
Would she/he be proud of you?
What kind of excuse would you say to excuse the things you've done or the person you've become?
text;
And not everyone had awesome dreams they could actually achieve, when they were kids. [ matt's dream is clearly the best ]
text;
That would depend on your definition of 'awesome.'
text;
text;
Hm, as are most things. Which is what makes people so interesting, really.

People... were very uniform, where I was from. This place provides a variety I'm not entirely used to.
text;
Though, their variety can be a huge pain in the ass.
text;
I find it interesting, much different from Romdeau, at any rate. Not that it's.. very difficult to be different from Romdeau.

They're far from 'equal' in the sense of social standing. However in terms of creation, we were all made in the wombsys, and all for a specific purpose that was set out in order for us to be created. Therefore we all have a 'raison d'ĂȘtre' in that manner.
text;
So you are all preset, so to speak. Were you also?
text;
Yes. The regent's granddaughter couldn't be without a specific purpose, you know.
text;
text;
It's... strangely debatable. I wonder if I wasn't created to set in motion the events that caused Romdeau's fall or if... they created me to find another life source for the dome but underestimated what my curiosity might find.
text;
text;
I don't have one. And I don't really mind that, if I'm at all honest.
text;
text;
Free will and not having my grandfather lurking over my shoulder is always well appreciated.
text;
What's a "wombsys"?
text;
Exactly what it sounds like. Womb system.
Humans in my world are barren due to genetic deformities resulting from nuclear fall out. So instead we create humans, and change them down to their personality traits and genomes, in the wombsys.
That way the population is controlled, and people are fitted specifically for their raison d'ĂȘtre when they come in to the world, whether they know it yet as an infant or not.
text;
Is there even any genetic variability in that?
text;
I assume so. I never worked with one nor did I pursue much about the thing. I found it creepy, really.
Genetic variation might not be necessary, though, considering reproduction isn't possible between two people. So it's possible there was very little.
text;
If there is a new virus, everyone's the same genetically and poof, there goes the human kind due to its inability to be genetically stronger than the last generation.
Humans can "inject" some form of variability, but let's be honest, as much humans can be creative, they only come up with ideas when everything's already fucked, and those ideas may even suck a lot.
