♡ Call 001 [audio + video, April 25, afternoon]

Well... at least they're generous about everything, aren't they?

[The voice is accompanied by the steady 'click-click' of heels along the floor- Cupid is obviously making this post as she walks to her temporary 'home' in this new city. If she sounds a little breathless though, it's more because of excitement than anything.]

I mean, I suppose it's the least they can do, all things considered, but you never really expect to find yourself in a situation like this and actually have people be pleasant about it.

--well, actually, I never expected to find myself in a situation like this at all.

[She laughs a little, seemingly entirely unconcerned with her predicament, and there's the sound of keys jingling, and a door unlocking.]

Whoa- okay, so this isn't... great. Not bad at all but- wow, there is no personality in this place. I'm going to have to do a lot of redecorating... [There's a pause, and the dull thud of a purse being set on a coffee table, and then the 'whumph' of fabric of someone sitting on a sofa.] I guess I'll have plenty of time for all that later though, huh?

[And still, she doesn't sound the least bit displeased. The video finally turns on to show a pink-haired girl, bone-like wings a-flutter with amusement, as she leans forward, setting her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands.]

In the meantime, I guess I should introduce myself! [Her tone dips a little from cheery to compassionate, and a little more mature- cultured, even.] My name is kind of scary-long, so most of the time I just go by Cupid. And while normally, I stick to monsters, but I think given the situation, I can be a little more flexible-

--so, tell me Death City- what matters to your heart? After all, it's kind of my area of expertise.

High school, of course! [A pause-] You don't go to school?

No. None of us do. [even if the idea of bunny or pitch in a school setting is kind of hilarious.]

Y'know, spirits. [except the others aren't quite like him. um...] Supernatural beings? The Guardians, and everyone else.

Really? Must be really different where you're from then. Most supernatural beings usually don't just... drift around dealing with normies back home.

I guess you're not from my world, then. [lame.] I mean, I'm the only one that really "drifts around", but we still all deal with humans. That's what we're here for.

Guess not- sorry about that. [And she honestly is.] Really? What do you guys do?

All kinds of stuff. The Guardians protect the children of the world, but we're not all there is, and everyone's still got their own jobs and way of doing things.

Sounds pretty important. [Honestly, protecting kids certainly seemed important.] So... what do you do, in particular?

[like that explains it all. but to be fair, he doesn't need to ask what she does with a name like "cupid".]

[And she parrots back at him with a slight smile-]

Well, you can't blame anyone. Fairy tales don't do most winter spirits justice though. I know a yeti named Abbey, and seriously? Totally gorgeous.

[She huffs a little at that and shrugs.]

Someone who doesn't know what the desert does to anyone with any kind of moisture in their body, clearly. But at least the mornings are still pretty cool this time of year?

A yeti? Seriously? 'Cause I've seen yetis before, and...I mean, nothing against your friend or anything, but...uh...

It's not terrible once the sun goes down! But still not cold, and the AC in the apartments can only be set so low...

Like I said, no justice. But then again, yetis in my world might be different from yours too, right?

And let me guess- you're practically dying in anything that isn't freezing or below?

Uh, sure...

[but he can't get the image of a female Phil out of his head and. ew.]

Kind of? I mean, ok, I'm probably exaggerating a little. But it's really uncomfortable, and back home warmer places weren't so bad because I could just keep myself cold but this place kind of took all that away so it just sucks.

No, I hear you- I'm nowhere near as sturdy as I usually feel, and my wings are pretty much completely useless. At least I don't have to worry about my crossbow getting into anyone's hands...

Yeah, it's kind of lame having to walk everywhere when you're used to flying. [and he misses the wind. it's like his best friend just suddenly stopped talking to him, being able to feel the occasional breeze but being unable to really interact with it.] Tooth would probably be miserable here...

Well, I normally walk, but the option is nice, really.

[Plus, no wings means that nothing else she can do would work, including possibly calling up some of the extended family if she was ever in a serious jam.]

Tooth? That a friend of yours?

Yeah. You know, the Tooth Fairy?

I've heard of her, yeah- didn't know she was actually real. Or at least, never heard of anyone who's met her.

[Score one for Jack's world, she supposes.]

I guess a fairy not being able to fly would be pretty awful.
